Most of these cards are pretty standard for a rock deck, but then again rock decks arent very standard. Therefore, I'll try to explain the purpose and hopefully you all can suggest a few cards that'll fit in with the strategy. Golem Sentry and Guardian Sphinx are the main bouncers, and the various traps that stall for either 1 turn or several (Ordeal of a Traveler, Compulsory Evacuation Device, Scrap-Iron Scarecrow, Magic Cylinder, Draining Shield, Mirror Force, Astral Barrier, Swords of Revealing Light) are used to get me a field presence. Once there are at least 2 Golem Sentrys or 1 Guardian Sphinx on the field, I can return monsters even if they attack to flip the cards faceup, or, if they don't, I'll be returning more monsters than they summon. Moai Interceptor Cannons and Wandering Mummy can attack then flip into defense mode, and Wandering Mummys effect forces the opponent to guess who he's attacking (More useful when they can't do over 2000dmg and Moai is on the field). Throw in Creature Swap, Exchange, and Spring of Rebirth as side cards that help me keep an advantage at my opponent's expense.

Thus ends the main purpose of the deck. The rest of the cards are mainly for obscure support.

Spirit Barrier and Clock Tower Prison, combined with Astral Barrier, allow flip summons to go uninterrupted. Sand Moth is my defense against field-clearers and I have the option of killing him myself with Torrential Tribute. Koa'ki Meiru Guardian is a strong attacker with an awesome negation effect. Castle Gate never dies. Big Piece Golem is a rock Cyber Dragon, though he can't be special summoned. Megarock Dragon is a great lategame sweeper (Which is why none of my other monsters remove cards from play). Inaba White Rabbit hides behind my defenses and deals damage while abusing Spring of Rebirth and Mage Power can turn any monster into a terrifying attacker. So, like I said at the beginning before I decided I had too much free time and could just explain my reasoning for each and every card, any and all help is appreciated. To those who take the time to reply, thank you. It means a lot. 68.98.163.61 03:55, June 19, 2010 (UTC)

I Love It!

I have a similar deck that I have used in the past. The following is my most current version of my deck:

This deck is actually set up to be a Megarock Dragon OTK (One Turn Kill) deck in the late game.
It also focuses highly on bounce effect to keep my opponent busy while I set up for my One Big Attack!
Please, allow me to explain a few odd choices...
Treeborn Frog is in the deck to give me "free" tribute fodder for the Guardian Sphinx.
So, I also have Foolish Burial in the deck to dump the Frog in to the graveyard!
The three Des Lacoodas provide the deck with a source of draw power and are supported with a wide variety of stall cards.

I suppose if I didn't use Treeborn Frog, I would take it out along with Foolish Burial also.
I'd replace both cards with: Scrap-Iron Scarecrow and maybe a Hand Destruction.

Please do not think that I am suggesting that your deck is flawed...
In fact, I think you have a wonderful deck going on there.
As you point out: "...but then again rock decks arent very standard."
So, there is not a standard Rock Deck build.
I am just presenting my Rock Deck to give you different ideas as you requested.
So please, simply consider my deck as "feedback" for your consideration.

Try Castle Gate! It, and Ordeal of a Traveler, are probably the two best cards I'd suggest you try. Castle Gate is invincible in battle (And with your Frog, you get a free tribute summon each turn). It's second effect is perhaps even more deadly. Tribute any monster to deal damage equal to the monsters original attack. Even if, for some reason, you cant get an attack in with Megarock, you can tribute him and deal it as effect damage. (I think I'm assuming correctly. Even though it's 'original atk' is ?, you treat the removed from play monsters as it's new original atk. If I'm wrong and it's assumed 0, blah.) Otherwise, it can count as a 'second attack' for all your monsters which could net you the win. Ordeal can turn any attack into only a 33% chance of success. If you get 3 on the field, it can lower to a 4% chance of success. You'll need to keep cards in your hand though, and it's not perfect. But it is continuous.

I know you didn't ask for feedback on your own deck. I hope I'm not out of place. I never knew there were so many 'Do not attack this turn' cards. Do you think they work better than cards like Magical Cylinder, Draining Shield, etc? 68.98.163.61 06:41, June 21, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks

Feedback is always welcome, it also lets me know that someone actually reads what I post.
I have: Ordeal of a Traveler. I might even run it, if I was not using Treeborn Frog.
Castle Gate sounds pretty good! I wish I had one. Maybe when I get more money?

The "do not attack this turn" cards, really do work well. If you can protect your rocks
from getting crushed in battle, then you will still have nice bouncers to work with
next turn! Of course... if your monsters get nailed by a card effect, then you only
save your life points and nothing else. Monarch decks made me mad to no end! Bouncing a
monarch was a very bad idea... making rock bouncers useless.

Between: Magic Cylinder and Draining Shield... I prefer Magic Cylinder.
It is only good at stopping one attack. But, it is a fun way to knock around life points!
Anything that can keep a bouncer alive, is a good card for a rock deck.

Anyway...it was great to exchange ideas with you. I hope I was of some help.

An update, I suppose

I entered in my first tournament and... Did pretty well. I lost because 5 people made it to the top 4, so instead of extending it they just randomly eliminated someone. Bleh. Faced Blackwings and Gladiator Beasts in what was supposed to be non-top tier, so I'm proud.

A friend lend me Gorz the Emissary of Darkness and it saved me. A lot. I have nothing to protect myself from effect destructions, usually leaving my field empty. Gorz the Emissary of Darkness stopped insane attacks and gave me a footing in the game again. Damage Condenser is... Untested as is Gaia Plate the Earth Giant. But hopefully Damage Condenser will help with searching the deck and Gaia Plate the Earth Giant will work better as a beatstick than Megarock, who usually just ended up as a way to quickly summon Castle Gate and Guardian Sphinx.

Was told that Rock decks are lower than Tier 3. Must... Prove... Friend... Wrong. 68.98.163.61 (talk) 04:28, June 26, 2010 (UTC)
