i activated the royal decree, and my opponent asked if he can still activate the dust tornado to destroy royal decree. will it destroy my royal decree? or will its effect be negated first? where at a loss since both cards are spell speed 2 cards. 125.60.241.172 03:21, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Royal Decree's activation is spell speed 2, but its effect is continuous. You can only destroy it with a card that actually negates its activation and effect, such as "Solemn Judgment". Danny Lilithborne 03:57, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
If you activate Royal Decree and your opponent chains Dust Tornado then Royal Decree is destroyed, Whereas if you try to activate Dust Tornado after Royal Decree has already been activated then Dust Tornado is negated.Skavinger 04:16, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
- Oh, you're right. My bad. Danny Lilithborne 04:26, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Huh ! I really wonder why Royal decree isn't negete dust tornado effect as it state in it text?
So, If in case
Player A activated: Torential Tribute. And' Italic text''Italic text'''Bold text''Italic text
[Headline text]
''''Player B activated Royal decree. two card is also spell speed 2. Does it mean torrential tribute would work or negeted by Royal decree?? Thank you
- In this case, Royal Decree resolves before Torrential and the latter is negated. If something is chained to Royal Decree itself, it still goes off. Danny Lilithborne 10:37, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
It helps if you remember how a chain works. Players activate effects, and then resolve them in reverse order. Also, "Royal Decree" has to resolve before it does anything. Before that, it has no effect, so Trap Cards still work:
Example 1:
- Chain Link 1: "Royal Decree"
- Chain Link 2: "Dust Tornado", targetting "Royal Decree"
- Resolve
- Chain Link 2: "Dust Tornado" resolves. "Royal Decree" hasn't resolved yet, so you don't apply its effect. "Dust Tornado" destroys "Royal Decree".
- Chain Link 1: "Royal Decree" resolves. However, it's not face-up on the field, so it doesn't do anything.
Example 2:
- Chain Link 1: "Dust Tornado"
- Chain Link 2: "Royal Decree"
- Resolve
- Chain Link 2: "Royal Decree" resolves, and it begins negating Traps.
- Chain Link 1: "Dust Tornado" tries to resolve, but "Royal Decree" has already resolved and is negating Traps. "Dust Tornado" is negated.
Example 3:
- Chain Link 1: "Torrential Tribute"
- Chain Link 2: "Royal Decree"
- Resolve
- Chain Link 2: "Royal Decree" resolves, and begins negating Traps.
- Chain Link 1: "Torrential Tribute" tries to destroy everyone, but "Royal Decree" has already resolved, so it's negated.
Example 4:
- Chain Link 1: "Torrential Tribute"
- Chain Link 2: "Royal Decree"
- Chain Link 3: "Bottomless Trap Hole"
- Resolve
- Chain Link 3: "Bottomless Trap Hole" resolves. Since "Royal Decree" hasn't resolved yet, so you don't apply "Royal Decree"'s effect. "Bottomless Trap Hole" resolves and destroys/removes from play the monster.
- Chain Link 2: "Royal Decree" resolves, and begins negating Traps.
- Chain Link 1: "Torrential Tribute" tries to destroy everyone, but "Royal Decree" has already resolved, so it's negated.

Missing one very important example:
Example 5
- Player A activates Torrential Tribute
- Player B chains Royal Decree
- Player A chains Dust Tornado targeting Royal Decree
Effects Resolve
- Dust Tornado Destroys Royal Decree
- Royal Decree is no longer on the field
- Torrential Tribute is no longer negated by Royal Decree and destroys all monsters
The important part of this example is that Royal Decree has to remain on the field to negate things.Skavinger 16:27, 10 August 2008 (UTC)
Oh I am cleared
Thank you all guy very much for the explaination and giving me the many examples. I am now understand that the last chain will be resolve before the previous one.
Wait I Have One More Question
One time I was playing the Nightmare Troubadour video game and I had a continuous spell card on the field. Eventually my opponent activates Dust Tornado and I chained it with Mystical Space Typhoon. MST destroyed Dust Tornado but its effe'Bold text'ct still worked and my continuous spell card was destroyed. Can someone explain this? Is it because MST would have to say "negate" on the card in order to cancel the effect? Answers please. Thank you. --EgyptianGods 03:57, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Ok,
Mystical Space typhoon only destroy dust tornado but the effect still there, it doesn't negate, so no matter what you do the effect will stay. Dust tornado, mystical Space Typhoon, etc, are use mainly to destroy continous cards. Since continous cards effect only when it's on the field, so those effect will be negate.
