MobiusxXx 17:45, January 7, 2010 (UTC)People told me that Royal Oppression cant be used against blackwing - blizzard the far north if Blackwirldwind is chain to blizzard. So my question is: 1)If I activate any card that special summons a monster, can I make a chain with any other card like book of moon to make Royal Oppression lose it timing?

2)If I summon Marauding Captain that allows me to special summon a level 4 or lower monster, and my opponent use Royal Oppression and I use Book of Moon, Marauding Captain is destroy anyway? and it's effect is negated?

From the thing that those other people have said to you, I don't understand how Black Whirlwind can be chained to a special summoned monster, since it's effect only activates when a monster is normal summoned. — This unsigned comment was made by MobiusxXx (talkcontribs) 17:47, January 7, 2010

1) The rulings of Royal Oppression list this:

*There are basically 2 ways to Special Summon a monster. The first way is with a Spell Card like "Monster Reborn", a Trap Card like "Call of the Haunted", or an Effect Monster like "Magical Scientist". The second way is built in to the monster, and Special Summons it without activating an effect, such as "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" or "Dark Necrofear". "Royal Oppression" can negate both of these types of Special Summon. In the first case, you chain the activation of "Royal Oppression"'s effect to the activation of the Spell, Trap, or Monster Card's effect, and negate the effect. In the second case, right before the monster is Special Summoned, you can activate the effect of "Royal Oppression" to negate the Special Summon (the same procedure that you use for "Horn of Heaven" or "Solemn Judgment").

Also, A card can only 'miss the timing' when it's effect states: When... you can.... Since this card states Pay 800 Life Points to negate a Special Summon of a monster and/or the effect of a card that Special Summons a monster and destroy it. I don't think this effect can miss the timing. However, if it is negated in a chain, its effect won't activate of course.

By flipping face down the special-summoned status of the monster doesn't dissappear, so the effect will still activate.

2)Yes, Capitan is destroyed, no monster is summoned nor searched from the deck, and you could chain Book of Moon, but that doesn't negate the activation of Capitan's effect and therefore doesn't make an 'missed the timing' scenario.

0) "Royal Oppression" must be directly Chained to the effect that you want to negate. If you want to negate an effect on Chain Link 1, then you have to activate "Royal Oppression" as Chain Link 2.
When the opponent Summons "Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North", its effect and the effect of "Black Whirlwind" both activate simultaneously and form a Chain, according to SEGOC. If the opponent places "Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North" as Chain Link 1 and "Black Whirlwind" as Chain Link 2, then you can't use "Royal Oppression" to negate "Blackwing - Blizzard the Far North". This is because of the above paragraph.
Also, the first two Chain Links happen automatically, so "Royal Oppression" can't come in between the two Links. You can only activate "Royal Oppression" after those two effects activate.
1) No. After you activate a card, your opponent gets the first chance to Chain to the effect. You can't activate "Book of Moon" until your opponent either activates something or passes.
2) You can activate "Book of Moon", but it should not do anything. The effect will still be negated, and "Marauding Captain" will still be destroyed.
Also, remember to sign your posts with four tildes ~~~~, since that automatically creates a signature for you.
