Forum:Special Summon vs. Effect

Say you have a monster card whose effect says "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by removing an EARTH attribute monster from play" or something like that. If I activate a Special Summoning card like "Monster Reborn" and target that card for a Special Summon, does that mean I still have to remove an EARTH attribute monster?

There are 2 possible answers depending on the card (from my understanding). It is either a Semi-Nomi card, in which case you can Monster Reborn it with no other costs, provided you have special summoned it properly (as the card text states) firs, or it is a plain Nomi card, in which case you cannot summon it in any other way than that stated in the card text. I do not now how to differentiate them, but each wiki page has a link to a list in that category. harryrings 05:27, 27 February 2009 (UTC)

semi nomi

You can recognize a Semi-Nomi monster because it will have, "This card cannot be Normal Summoned or Set. This card can only be Special Summoned by..." befor it can be special summoned any other way D.M.Sorcerer 06:05, 27 February 2009 (UTC)
