"Spirit Reaper" is destroyed by its own effect after a card that targets it resolves. If a Spell Card targets it, and the activation of that Spell Card is negated (such as with "Magic Jammer"), then "Spirit Reaper" is not destroyed. However, if the effect of the Spell Card was negated, such as if "Imperial Order" is active, then "Spirit Reaper" is destroyed because the Spell Card resolves (even though its effect is negated). Even if "Imperial Order" is already active on the field, you can activate a card such as "Tribute to the Doomed" designating "Spirit Reaper", and "Spirit Reaper" will be destroyed by its own effect.

I don't get how a card effect is resolved if another card is negating it. Imperial Order negates a spell card, so surely if Player A activated a spell card and selected Player B's Spirit Reaper as a target to use the effect on, Imperial Order would negate the effect and Spirit Reaper will not be destroyed? Another thing then, as the card is not destroyed by Imperial Order and still remains on the field then is that the reason Spirit Reaper is destroyed because the card selecting Spirit Reaper as a target is still on the field. Magic Jammer Negates and destroys a spell card so that would make sense no?

Correct. If the card is negated and destroyed, it does not resolve. However, if it's simply negated, it resolves without effect. Jet-Black Nova (talkcontribs) 15:12, August 10, 2013 (UTC)

There are 2 different negations. "Negate activation of the card" and "negate effect of the card". If activation of the card itself is negated, it is treated it never be played, never hit the field, never target, never resolve. If the card is not negated but its effect, the card still hit the field, resolve, but don't do anything on the resolution.-- (talkcontribs) 04:12, August 11, 2013 (UTC)

In this case would the Player whose card effect has been negated but remains on the field need to use a card that would remove/destroy the negated card as technically its not affecting the game but its still on the field taking up 1 of 5 zones? Or can the Player simply pick the card up and place it in their grave zone?

Depends on the type of spell card. Any spell card that would remain on the field after activation (Equip, Field, Continuous) or that says in it's card effect it remains face-up (Swords of Revealing Light, Nightmare Steel Cage, etc.) stays on the field permanently if simply negated. However, it it's a card like Smashing Ground, then if it resolves without effect, it goes to the graveyard. Jet-Black Nova (talkcontribs) 18:03, August 11, 2013 (UTC)
