Forum:The Korea-Exclusive Archetype "Gods"

Korea has gotten some pretty cool exclusives lately, especially the "God" Archetype/Series. I especially love the Artworks of these cards and the influence of the Cthulhu Mythos is a nice idea. I have noticed that the ones that are released at the moment cover every Extra Deck monster:

I was wondering if there might be the possibility of a Ritual "God" card. So far, the monsters of this Series are great (except Nyarla IMO), so maybe they will release a good Level 4 Ritual monster as well. It would make sense to me to cover the last summoning mechanic in the game (well, Pendulums are still missing but they might release one later on). Maybe this will lead to Sophia being finally playable.

I couldn't help but notice that the ones released so far have the Attributes EARTH, WATER and FIRE, so it wouldn't be a stretch to assume that my hypothetical Ritual "God" will be WIND.

Also, when will we get them in the TCG? I don't think there is any official release date yet, but maybe we will get them in a booster as the formerly OCG exclusive cards. What do you think? --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 09:53, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

Or just in a dedicated product like the OCG gets for ours. PhotonLegion95 (talkcontribs) 15:09, July 17, 2014 (UTC)
sounds like pretty sound logic, and maybe they could make a level 4 DARK or LIGHT pendulum "god", but I personally wouldnt mind getting chthugha to replace balmung in my variety deckDjt08031996 (talkcontribs) 14:38, July 17, 2014 (UTC)
I was just thinking of a pair of LIGHT and DARK Pendulum Gods. The lack of Level 4 Synchros makes me wish for a soon release date for Chtugah too but sadly, it is rather unlikely. --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 15:07, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

First Japan probably has to get the Korean exclusives, then the TCG will probably get them. However, some cards will never come to the U.S. do to cultural issues. Magi Magi Magician Gal will probably never come to the U.S. as her art needs to be changed, and the card creator refused any changes to the artwork. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 15:47, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

^ I believe he only said that for his "Dark Magician Girl", but yeah, same thing. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 15:54, July 17, 2014 (UTC)

Now I wanna see Cthulhu as a WIND Ritual Monster, with the Ritual Spell Card being "The Call of the Cthulhu" :) --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 04:16, July 18, 2014 (UTC)

Now THAT would be a fitting name for a Ritual Spell! --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 15:49, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
As cool as that would be, if/when we get these cards theres a very real chance that they wont have the exact name of the Cthulhu mythos, mainly for copyright reasons. PhotonLegion95 (talkcontribs) 15:52, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
I thought Lovecraft's mythos was public domain? I mean Noden and Chtugha's names are taken directly from his works and Nyarla's name is simply a shortened version of its literary counterpart. --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 16:39, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
There's debate as to whether or not his post-1923 works are in the public domain, but due to mishandling of his work after his death, the copyrights shifted from him to other people and now it appears to be almost impossible to determine who, if anyone, still has a claim to the copyrighted work(s). So, even if his work is copyrighted, you're probably not going to get sued for using it, because it's hard to prove you actually have a copyright, and the people who did own copyrights seemed to not have renewed them under U.S. copyright law. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 16:45, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
At least that's what it appeared to me when I googled his name and his copyrights. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 16:46, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
From what I can under stand go this : http://neoarkcradle.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=3745&start=960#p222817 : Konami could use the names, but that could also lead to legal action, which would seem like something they would want to avoid. PhotonLegion95 (talkcontribs) 17:07, July 18, 2014 (UTC)
This is not the first time Konami may have problems with that. In Castlevania: Symphony of the Night, Cthulhu is one of the castle monsters, however its name was traded with another creature, the Malachi (see Malachi and Cthulhu). --Missign0 (talkcontribs) 03:36, July 19, 2014 (UTC)
If Konami did it before, then they'll do it again. Do you know if they got sued the first time? (Doubt they did, but might as well ask.) --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 03:51, July 19, 2014 (UTC)
Wow... The Copyright issue in this case is far more complicated than I thought. Maybe Konami will rename them when releasing these cards in the TCG or they might just hope that noone will sue a company over a children's cardgame. --BronzeJohnson (talkcontribs) 09:32, July 19, 2014 (UTC)
