Forum:Unicore should join Nekroz of Brionac as Semi-Limited

To put it simply, Nekroz of Unicore is too damn versatile to be at 3. First off, the fact that you can bring it out by using Nekroz Kaleidoscope and sending Herald of the Arc Light to the Graveyard is unbelievably convenient. In my opinion, that play itself is reason enough to hit at least one of those three cards. In addition, being able to discard it to bring ANY Nekroz card in your Graveyard back to your hand is completely ridiculous. The ability to search out any cards from the deck on a whim with Brionac and Clausolas is more than enough. Notice how I haven't even gotten to what happens when it hits the field.

In Yugioh, most monsters have a fairly balanced and consistent relationship between their ATK/DEF, and the "tier" of their effects, barring the necessary exception of Boss Monsters. For example, Malefic monsters have enormous ATK, but their effects do a good job of restricting their viability. Now, I fully understand that as the game ages, more and more powerful cards must be released, in order to make people buy them. However, that does not excuse Nekroz of Unicore. For a monster that can hit the field at any time, essentially cost-free, 2300 ATK on top of THAT effect is quite simply too much. Out of the three big Boss Cards of the current Metagame, Dante, Shaddoll Construct, and Apoqliphort Towers, Unicore can shut two of them down in an instant. Absolutely preposterous.

Summing Up: -Way too versatile -Too strong for its effect -An excellent card in a deck already full of excellent cards

Thoughts? Agree? Disagree? Whatever the case, let's talk about it.Arc8dion (talkcontribs) 03:04, May 6, 2015 (UTC)

Totally agree, but the fact is that Nekroz have Brionac and Unicorn as well as Nekroz Cycle Limited in the OCG and Manju Semi-Limited, but they still top. Granted Nekroz Kaleidoscope probably needs to be hit along with Unicorn to do anything meaningful. About Unicorn's effect, it's powerful for sure, but 2300 ATK actually isn't a lot. Unicorn can be run over by most Extra Deck Monsters even without their effects, the issue is Nekroz of Valkyrus getting in the way. I think some serious hits are going to be needed to keep Nekroz playable and fair when the next list rolls around, but what those hits will be is fair game. Maybe Manju and Senju to 1 along with Kaleidoscope to 1? --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 03:36, May 6, 2015 (UTC)
I'd much rather see the hits be as In-house as possible, so a future Ritual archetype doesn't have to suffer limited Manju's because some other series had to be BS
Unfortunately I don't fully understand how the deck runs myself, so I don't know what in-house hits would do the job and be fair. Cycle and Keliedo need a hit IMO.

If you want to keep the hits as in-house as possible, then Kaleidoscope and Mirror have to be hit, as well as Nekroz of Brionac, Nekroz of Clausolas (Depends on how you hit the Spells), and Nekroz of Unicore all have to be hit. --Dark Ace SP (TalkPage) 00:34, May 7, 2015 (UTC)
