Forum:What kind of starter/structure deck would you like to see?

For the sake of staring a conversation, I was wondering what kind of starter decks you think they should come out with.

I wouldn't say something that already has a ton of support, like Crystal Beasts which had their own duelist pack, but something that isn't too popular right now or something that needs to come back. I was thinking a deck based on Ritual Monsters would be cool now that there's a ton of support comming out, or a deck based on Insects since they aren't really in widespread use.Dios mio! 06:50, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

Rituals like the other guy said would be pretty cool a structure deck on a strategy like milling or what not would be pretty cool, sure they made the felgrand dragon thing but that wasn't very good. OjaOwnage 14:20, March 29, 2010 (UTC)

A BES Structure would be great, especially if they included the anime cards B.E.S. Armored Core and Shield Recovery. Those would make it pro - it's already a surprisingly good control deck. Oh, and some way to search out Boss Rush. Runer5h 19:27, March 29, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

    • Agreed; maybe a deck to improve the old Phantom Beast archetype, or a brand new archetype that would finally bridge the gap between Beasts and Beast-Warriors that they started with Manticore of Darkness and Wild Nature's Release, but never finished. 66.228.109.2 20:27, March 30, 2010 (UTC)

Look no further. But IMHO, B.E.S. would be even more amazing. It's already fun to beat the crap out of your opponent with the constantly-being-recycled Machines. Especially B.E.S. Big Core MK-2 and B.E.S. Crystal Core, which are the two best cards. Runer5h 19:37, March 30, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Plant structure deck definitely! Also a Different Dimension/Return from/remove-from-play deck, or an Alternate Win Condition structure deck. A psychic structure deckwould be cool too. Or another/different water based deck. Thorn of RosenYubel 01:31, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

Milling. Not the self-milling which many Decks do nowadays, but a Deck that aims to win through Deck Out. Please. --Gadjiltron 12:54, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

The Starter Decks that I anticipate are...

  • Plant Deck - It is a decent deck type, and also a competitively viable deck. Some good cards to have are Dandylion and Gigaplant.
  • Elemental Hero Deck - It's funny to say that, mainly because it's a deck type that is infamous by even the best players, but this deck could be an anti-Synchro and Fusion toolbox type combined.
  • New WATER Deck - There was a WATER-based structure deck before, but I would like to see one that focuses on the Fishes and some swarming, and also have other WATER monsters to help the deck out like Catapult Turtle to take advantage of the Fish that are summoned (by Coelacanth). Basically a deck that differs from the old one's pure attacking and (sometimes) field clearing ability. Sound a bit too specific, but you get the idea.
  • Normal Monsters Deck - Just like what it says, a deck that makes full use of cards that benefit Normal Monsters, and some Gemini Monster can be added to make the deck more functional. Obviously this deck could tell players that Normal Monsters aren't all that bad.
  • Deck-Out Deck - This deck would take advantage of restricting the options the opponent would be able to do, by removing the cards from their deck. It could have Flip Effect support (since Needle Worms, a Morphing Jar and Hiro Shadow Scouts are the main millers) to make them more usable. 115.134.92.82 15:27, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

I really like the idea of B.E.S. monsters, but I think I'd reather like to see a functional Gradius deck, especially since they would have to throw in a new cover card. however, they just relesed a machine deck, so we wont see another machine deck for a while. I really like the Fairy deck idea. However, i fear plants are getting really powerfull and a structure deck would make them broken (overpowered) in the same was that zombies are broken. I think it would be really cool to make a toon deck, but with new cards like Field Barrier and Terraforming that would make them reliable. Dios mio! 19:32, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

I would like to see a Defensive Play Structure Deck featuring some of the Gardna used by different characters plus a new level 7 Defense monster with Gardnas' powerforce, and Defender's Mind would be a great excuse to damage your opponent while doubling Gardnas' DEF. Also, Total Defense Shogun and Kuriboh along with Multiply should be in this kind of deck, and extra defense increase cards.

Yeah, maybe we could get some Defender Burn... like, if all monsters you control are in DEF position, burn your opponent for half the combined original DEF. Runer5h 21:03, April 1, 2010 (UTC)Runer5h

Yep, that will be neat, Gardna, Defender Burn, and Manipulating DEF strength. I mean, Here's a decklist for just a idea.

I do like the idea, but Defender's Mind is seriously broken. And Kuriboh + Multiply? You must be joking. All in all though, the Defender structure deck would be a pretty good idea, although it would need a few ways to get rid of, umm...--Akiza Izayoi 23:01, April 1, 2010 (UTC)

I would disagree, Defender's Mind and power up DEF, doubling the chance of burn. Kuriboh + Multiply was used in a Kaiba vs. Yugi episode in Duelist Kingdom arc. Plus New Cards:

  • Ultimate Hardcore Gardna, it can only be summoned with at least 5 Gardnas in the graveyard and/or on the field and it can destroy a attacking monster when in defense position.
  • Defense Supplier, can increase DEF by 1500 for futher burn damage.
  • Fortress Shield, can prevent destruction of monster on your side with DEF of 1900 or higher and double any battle damage after with your defense monster's battle.
  • Garrison Potion, can increase your LP for each defense monsters.
  • Agression Power Down, a powerful card can lockdown all beatdown effects involving defense monsters.

But I agree that it is a good deck.

Wow, Plants are quite a popular type here aren't they? Anyway I guess one starter deck I would want would be one based on the Spider-archetype. They have potential, and maybe the deck could come up with something for them to do after they switch the opponents cards to Defence. Another I would like to see are the Arcana Force, and they could also include the missing ones. And I'm not talking about Strength and Hanged Man, I mean what about the Tower, The Heriophet, the Sun. I think Plants would be interesting, but what I'd really like to see is Insects. Think about it: A hybrid of Beatdown and Mill, with stuff like Insect Knight, Chainsaw Insect and Needle Worm. It could even have the DNA Surgery + Insect Barrier combo. The ace monster? Doom Dozer. I think that an Insect Structure deck could end up really cool. Lappyzard 04:05, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

I agree with the idea of a Psychic structure deck. Regarding an Infernity SD, I think that won't be a good idea as it's already in the meta. Structure decks shouldn't implement what's already common; they should add new ideas and strategies to the game. --HybridDragoness 08:08, June 25, 2010 (UTC)

Hi i'm new!

I like the idea of having a ritual monster starter deck but really i think they need to make a simple starter deck containing basic cards and how to power them up so maybe include a marauding captain or celtic guardian. then add a powerful rare card to spice things up. perhaps they could also includ two simple fusion material monsters and the fusion and polymerization. this would be a perfect starter deck for a beginer.

LV oriented structure deck

Spirit Structure Deck

Based on the actual Spirit cards, the ones that return to your hand. The current ones have really devestating effects but theres not enough of them. EternalSlumba

Dark Synchro Structure Deck

I think a Dark Synchro Deck can become the next generation of structure decks:

  • all Dark Synchro versions of existing cards, including Stardust Dragon's Dark Synchro.
  • Debris Dragon's Dark Tuner and other Dark Tuner cards
  • All new and existing Dark Synchro/Tuner Supports

That would be neat, huh.

What about Aliens??? Aliens need a bit of a boost...not too many support cards and too many monsters. Also maybe a little something for the Earthbound Immortals? They got good support but I'm still a little worried...especially with Wiraqocha Rasca.

I think we have enough Warrior structure starter decks. How about a plant? not once have i seen a plant structure deck, yet there are two of every other type, except pychic. (Can't spell.) Maybe a funny deck no one ever thought of, a token spam deck. Spammng the field with tokens for a new monster that can be summoned by tokens, evven if they cant be tributed for a tribute sumon, such as lamb tokens. that would be cool.
