Forum:Wyvern and totem multiple chaining

My opponent has 2 Red-Eyes Wyverns in the graveyard and 2 Totem Dragons in the graveyard and I have a Thunder King Rai-Oh on the field. It is my opponent's turn. He declares it is his end phase. If he wants to activate both Wyverns effects and special summon 2 Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragons to his side of the field does it happen simultaneously or does the first one start a chain in which I could activate Rai-Ohs quick effect to negate it. My main question is can Rai-Oh negate both summons if they occur simultaneously or do I chain the effect to one summon and then after one summon is completed/negated then the next one would occur.

Totem dragon is brought up because if there are 2 in the graveyard and there are no monsters on the field can both special summon simultaneously or does one have to special summon first thereby negating the second one from coming out because the condition would not be met when the second one tries to come out since there is now a monster on the field. 137.104.83.220 16:40, September 8, 2009 (UTC)

1: The effects are activated separate. First you activate and resolve the first effect, and then you activate and resolve the second.
By the way, Thunder King Rai-Oh cannot negate a special summon through a card's effect!
2: As with Red-Eyes Wyverns situation, Totem Dragons will also activate separate their effect. When you activate and resolve the first, then you control a monster, so you cannot special summon the second.

Where does it say Thunder King Rai-Oh can't negate special summons from a card effect? 137.104.233.168 00:24, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

Thunder King Rai-Oh cannot negate any special summon that uses a chain because the summon happens during resolution of the effect and you cannot activate Thunder King Rai-Oh's effect during the resolution of a chain.Skavinger 05:53, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

so in that case what CAN he negate...give some examples plz....and what makes royal oppression any different??

He can negate Cyber Dragon, Gigantes, things that say "This card can only be Special Summoned by" or "This card cannot be Special Summoned except by" except the except cards that need a Spell card or another effect. This line is what makes Royal Oppression different "and the effect of a card that Special Summons a monster and destroy it.", as well as the four pages of rulings attached to it.--Axgamad 20:54, September 9, 2009 (UTC)
  • Simply it can negate all Special Summons that are not performed by a card's effect that starts a chain. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 21:07, September 9, 2009 (UTC)

So basically the only cards that Royal Oppression cannot negate is Gorz and Green Baboon but only if they both activate in the damage step instead of the other times where you could activate them. 137.104.82.239 16:16, September 10, 2009 (UTC)

Royal Oppression cannot negate a card's effect that special summons a monster during the Damage Step. That includes, Gorz, Mystic Tomato, Giant Rat, ect. It isn't possible to special summon Green Baboon, Defender of the Forest by his effect during the Damage Step anyway! ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 17:40, September 10, 2009 (UTC)
