Rename[edit]

I'm against the rename. There's no way they'll keep this card name anyway, given what its a reference to. Aside from that, in this case, just using the phonetic sounds better than the translation. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:14, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Yes, but we cannot leave it untranslated. How the TCG will render it is their choice. Also, it should be just "Senjojiki." And what reference are you talking about? Also, Pulling the Rug's trivia: "This is most likely a reference to "Tatami Gaeshi", a "trick" which is believed to have been used by ninjas. It involves carefully timing and flipping a tatami vertically to block incoming projectiles." So, something like, "Pulling a Thousand Rugs" for the unofficial English name and "Thousand-Tatami Flip" for the translated name. 195.211.153.15 (talk) 22:30, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
It also a reference to the size of a Tanuki's private parts. =/ --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 22:34, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
Well, pulling a thousand rugs isn't a reference to that. Also, "senjou" is a homonym for "battlefield," and as you can see from the artwork, it's literally flipping the ground. 195.211.153.15 (talk) 22:36, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
"You cannot leave it untranslated". Why? We did so with the "Bujin" archetype. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:44, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
Well, that's different. "Bujin" is less-cluttered than "Senjojiki", and it was done to give it a more Japanese feel. It doesn't really work for this card. "Flipping the Battlefield" sounds good. And it isn't really productive if we leave every card name with a pun untranslated. 195.211.153.15 (talk) 22:48, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
Of course it wouldn't be productive to do so. I'm not suggesting we should. I'm suggesting we should in specific cases. I believe this is one of those cases. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:50, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
Well, either way, it should be just "senjojiki." Nobody even renders じょ as "jyou" anymore. I still think "Flipping the Battlefield" just about covers it, though. 195.211.153.15 (talk) 22:56, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
Yeah, you're right that the "u" shouldn't be there. Its a side effect of most other sites not having buttons that allow easy access to the accented letters. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 22:58, June 9, 2013 (UTC)
I was more talking about the "y." It's kind of an outdated way of rendering romaji. It should be "Senjojiki," not "Senjyojiki." 195.211.153.15 (talk) 23:03, June 9, 2013 (UTC)

Why won't the card be called "Thousand Flips" or, since the reason was based on "Flipping the Table" why not call it "Table Flip Technique", "Table Flipping Technique", or "Flipping Table Technique" Brubio1010 (talkcontribs) 06:03, June 16, 2013 (UTC)Brubio1010

Apparently, it misses the sexual reference in the card's name (I don't know how the reference is obtained, but I trust the translator who stated as such). See my earlier post on this page for the "reference." --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:31, June 17, 2013 (UTC)
