Talk:Raiza Lockdown

You could Synchro Summon for Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier earlier, then use its effect in tandem with Forced Requisition to set up limited opportunities for your opponent. They'd be forced to discard each time you activated the Dragon's effect, so they'd have 1 card returning to hand and lose one.

Yea, I understand that you can Synchro earlier, but it still seems hard to have the ability of summoning Brionac and Raiza on the field. If you have Brionac on the field to begin with, you probably won't need Raiza out there at that point.

I see your point, but there is always the option of tributing the Synchro for Raiza the Storm Monarch once the opponent destroys Forced Requisition, as your Treeborn Frog will be locked in your grave until that point, anyway. Of course, I am assuming that they will make destroying your back row card a priority, given how much destruction is in the current format.

You could also use Level Eater as discard fodder for Brionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier, so that you could Special Summon it for Raiza, meaning that you could really stack negative effects. If Brionac is there first, you can get Level Eater, and then you can maintain Forced Requisition without worrying about the need for Treeborn. And I think Level Eater may be better in a Monarch/Synchro deck. I am guessing you have a few Level 2 Tuners to follow through after the Monarchs come out?

Or you could ignore most of that and put Raiza out first, then use Level Eater and/or Treeborn to modify/reach appropriate Synchro Levels.

That sounds a lot better than the Raiza Lock that was originally stated. Well, at least the part about Level Eater used for Brionac, and then used to get out Raiza.

Thanks a lot. Glad you think it was useful. I don't have any Monarchs, really, but this sounds like an interesting mechanic to me.

No problem. I don't like Synchros. I used to play back in the Chaos times. I came back and now everyone runs nothing but Synchros. So, I have the monarchs. But not the Brionac. haha

Oh, I started playing at the release of TDGS, so find that the Synchro mechanic works better, as there is a lot more recycling when compared to Chaos and Macro styles. The Monarchs are good, but they only have one-off effects, unlike may Synchros. Well, except for Kuraz, who I do love to abuse with De-Synchro.

Man, I came back in right before TDGS. And then I got a hold of the Six Samurai, and tried pulling a Hand. To this day, I haven't pulled one Hand of the Six Samurai... I just don't like a lot of the modern decks. Synchros, Lightsworn, Twilight, and Blackwings are just decks I refuse to play.

I have to agree with a lot of that. I play Warrior/Synchro, mostly, but Blackwings and other things are just ridiculous. Too fast, no real skill or thought involved. Just 1-2 turn grave-dumping and/or field swarming. I pulled a Hand 2 weeks before I left home, but left all of my English cards there. Had to start from scratch in Japan, and most Synchros are cheap. That and I can run all Level 3 and under and still do creative things.

Yeah, I wish I had a Hand of the Six. lol I wish I had 3. hahaha I found a competitive build of a Six Samurai deck, but I don't have all the cards, and they r too expensive for me to just go out and buy because I want to. But yeah, all the recent decks just involve shoving everything into the graveyard, and the cards do all the work because they all basically just have one effect. Some are just stronger than other. Point in case: Lightsworns. I try making interesting and fun decks rather than build thinking, "I WANNA WIN! I WANNA WIN! I WANNA WIN!" In the last tournament I played in, everyone had Blackwings and ran the same Fusion/Synchro monsters, I forgot the name of one I kept seeing abused, though. I find it boring when every duel turns out to be the same as the one before it, because everyone just runs the same cards...

Absolutely. I just built a new deck tonight, based on cards I got in the last week. Nothing like my previous ones, so will try testing it tonight. Some cool Ally Genex love with the new Synchro monster at its core. Hopefully the system holds together and I can publish the decklist somewhere.

Yeah, I've been wanting to build some X-Saber or Gravekeeper's, especially with their new support in Absolute Powerforce, but I think everyone will run Gravekeeper's because they all want to counter the decks that exist right now.

So, in other words, the anti-meta becomes the meta? I like my SD robots, so I'll stick with them. I don't even need a graveyard for them.
