First Released[edit]

Uh, hi. I don't play anymore, but I still have this page on my watchlist, so I'm here for a sec.

The page currently says that SSMs were released in Deck Custom Pack 01, but the first SSM released was Flame Swordsman (Starter Box, March '99), followed by Harpie Lady Sisters (Vol.4, July '99). Either (a) the page needs correcting or (b) I'm misunderstanding something. I've been out of the game for a while, so I'd say that both are likely, which is why I'm letting someone else fix this.

The reason why I stated it was first released in Deck Custom Pack 01 is because of the Japanese reprint of "Photon Thrasher". If you see the Japanese errata of "Photon Thrasher", you would see Special Summon (特殊召喚) in between the monster type and effect like this 【戦士族/特殊召喚/効果】. "Flame Swordsman" and "Cyber Harpie Lady" didn't have at the time and this just started in the new rule system. Basically, I just stated that they are starting to make this a card type instead of monster that fit this condition. So far in the Japanese database, only four have this card type printed which are "Photon Thrasher", "Guardian Dreadscythe", "Legendary Knight Timaeus" and "XX-Saber Faultroll". While the other three will be reprinted with this new card type, "Silent Swordsman LV7", "Silent Magician LV8" and "Valkyrion the Magna Warrior". This just begin in OCG and I unsure whether the TCG will adopt this new card type. And yes there need to be a correction to explain the sudden change. The Japanese Database has been updated and now lists 185 Special Summon Monsters. Should we add to the category all listed monsters? --XBrain130™エックスブレーン130」 13:20, April 27, 2015 (UTC)
