Seal of Orichalcos[edit]

Although this card didn't nessecarily belong to Yugi/Yami they both used it in the Doma arc so should this card be added to the decklist for Yugi/Yami?

Well the one that Pharoh used was just given to him by the effect of Exchange, thus no that one shouldn't count. But I guess the one Yugi used should be noted, even if the duel was likely an illusion.

I'm also removing several cards that Pharoh and Yugi gained as the result of card effects in a duel, and thus were not actually their cards.

  • Blue-Eyes Ultimate Dragon: I think he used Monster Reborn to get her Virtual arc, but can't remember to well. In the Dartz Saga he did not actually control the card, he just tributed her (as was allowed because it was his Tag Team partners) to summon Dragon Master Knight.
  • Guardian Eatos: Gained control of her by the effect of Monster Reborn.

Movie Deck[edit]

Since the Japanese novelisation actually lists the decks used by Yugi, Seto and Pegasus, is it worth listing them as seperate decks to the simple Second Series Deck we have here? Vagrant Lustoid 02:47, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

Other Language Names[edit]

Wouldn't it be cool to add a "Name in Other Languages" feature to the Anime/Manga characters, or at least the important ones such as Yugi? -- Melik el-Al'ab 10:02, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Okay. Copy the following, put it below the }} from the ExtendedName part and work your magic from there.
{{Infobox/Character/Yu-Gi-Oh!/Names
	| arabic =
}}
It works for a couple of other languages too. You can use it for as many characters that have official names, in the selected language. I'm not sure about adding unofficial ones, just yet. --Deltaneos (talk) 10:38, 24 July 2008 (UTC)
Thanks Deltaneos, I'll add as many Official Names as I know! (Arabic, at least) -- Melik el-Al'ab 15:16, 24 July 2008 (UTC)

Forgotten Cards[edit]

There are some characters not listened in Yugi's deck. Although those only appeared in his hand, never played, they should be also be listed. At least, that is my assumption. I apologize if this is a waste of space.MezzoDragon 23:05, 25 November 2008 (UTC)

Does Yugi have two Red Gadgets in his deck?[edit]

In Yu-Gi-Oh! Episode 221 Yugi Muto plays Ties of the Brethren summoning Red Gadget and Yellow Gadget from his Deck, but in the previous turn he searched his Deck for another Red Gadget thanks to the effect of Green Gadget. Now, or Ties of the Brethren has a different effect (maybe it Special Summons a Monster from the Deck and another from the Hand) or Yugi has two Red Gadgets in his deck.Gilbert Gosseyn III 21:34, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Either the creators made a mistake or our effect for "Ties of the Brethren" isn't accurate. We can see Yugi has 3 cards in his hand when the "Gadgets" attack themselves to "Stronghold the Moving Fortress". If the "Red Gadget" Summoned was not the one Yugi added to his hand with "Green Gadget", Yugi should have 4 cards in his hand. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:56, 15 June 2009 (UTC)

Missing cards in Battle City Tournament arc[edit]

Although Yugi never uses the following cards in the Battle City Tournament, they are all showed in some exhibitions: Premature Burial, Cyber Jar (as a Spell Card), Silver Fang and Lady of Faith. Do we have to include them in the deck Yugi used in the Battle City arc of the anime? Gilbert Gosseyn III 20:37, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Not sure... If he was building his Deck in that scene, we don't know if included all of them in it. If he was just looking at his Deck, then we know they were in there and we should include them. If we were to include them, "Cyber Jar" would still be considered an Effect Monster, as that's what it was in the Japanese anime. They erroneously changed it to a Spell Card in the English anime. In that same scene they also changed "Graceful Charity" to "Lady of Faith", "Magic Jammer" to "Black Illusion Ritual" and "Gamma The Magnet Warrior" to an Effect Monster. It also shows he has 2 "Giant Soldier of Stones" and a "Change of Heart". (both English and Japanese versions.)
"Black Illusion Ritual" would make no sense, as, if I recall correctly, Pegasus didn't release "Relinquished" to the public. He made it for himself to use in Duelist Kingdom. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:13, 26 June 2009 (UTC)

Yugi/Atem vs Jaden outcome[edit]

Neos attacking Slifer seems to be the stupidest move to me personally, if it went through then he definately lost. --62.3.238.10 14:56, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

There is no proof that it was an actual attack. If it wasn't Yugi's field would be Empty with Jaden simply declaring the end of his turn. We're going with "It wasn't shown, so it's still 'unknown' because it wasn't explicitly stated." That's the general consensus. Burnpsy 20:27, October 16, 2009 (UTC)

Lets not forget Jaden still had Shining Flare Wingman on the field, suiciding Neos would've served as a pump (assuming he still had lifepoints after the attack). But yes, the end wasn't shown, therefore no one can be declared the winner. (Shadowfox337)174.17.133.210 (talk) 10:33, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

yeh but Jadens promise to try harder and duel yugi again kinda hints he didnt win but in the mean time he realised the fun in dueling again ! i think that was the point of the match :)

Seperate biography pages[edit]

With the three seperate biographies (manga, first series anime, secodn series anime) the page was getting very long. To handle that and hopefully improve layout, I've tried a new format. His manga biography is now at Yugi Mutou in the manga. His first series anime biography is now at Yugi Mutou in the first series anime and the second series anime one is left as his "main" biography on this page. There's also a Template:Yugi Muto pages to navigate through these pages and give links to other related stuff, like the Decks page.

Some people would probably say the manga biography is the original so it should be listed as the main one. My reason for choosing the second series anime (NAS) one is because it's most consistant with all other Yu-Gi-Oh! media. Most video games and other anime spin-offs seem to be based on it. The GX anime is set in the same universe.

The format has been tried out on this page and the Seto Kaiba one. If anyone has any other comments, suggestions or reasons why we should or shouldn't do this, could you please post them here. Thanks. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:05, October 21, 2009 (UTC)

Character Depiction[edit]

I don't think we should be using somebody's fanart for the character picture of Yugi. Could somebody replace it please?--RyuuseiSoul 02:30, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

...That picture was drawn by Kazuki Takahashi, the creator of Yu-Gi-Oh!, in the bunkoban re-release of the manga. Cheesedude 02:35, May 28, 2010 (UTC)

R Manga[edit]

the english in that section is very poor, it feels like it was written by a young grade schooler, no offense to the writer, but it is really bad. (shadowfox337) 174.17.133.210 (talk) 10:28, August 11, 2010 (UTC)

age[edit]

does anyone know how old yugi is at the beginning and end of the anime? —This unsigned comment was made by 141.154.216.44 (talkcontribs) 00:15, 12 August 2010 (UTC)

can any one tell me how old yugi is in 1 season and gx —This unsigned comment was made by 69.171.163.191 (talkcontribs) 23:58, 16 October 2010 (UTC)

In the manga, Jonouchi (Joey) is 16 near the start, as said in "Get the Million!!". Yugi should be about the same age, since they were in the same class. Yu-Gi-Oh! is said to start in 1996. That's the year the series was first printed. I'm not sure what evidence there is that that's also the year it was set. "Judai Revived!? A Brand New Journey" says that Judai (Jaden) enrolled in Duel Academy in 2004. Assuming 1996 is correct and manga dates coincide with anime dates, Yugi is approximately 24 at the start of Yu-Gi-Oh! GX. -- Deltaneos (talk) 20:43, October 17, 2010 (UTC)
your wrong you see the gx series takes place ten years after the events started so it would make him twenty six the difference in the dates dont matter but its only two years off ah well :D —This unsigned comment was made by 83.71.75.127 (talkcontribs) 00:51, 9 January 2011 (UTC)
I've often heard people say that Yu-Gi-Oh! GX takes place 10 years after the original Yu-Gi-Oh!, but I've never heard where they're getting that information from. Episode 156 of GX says that Judai/Jaden enrolled in 2004. That would mean it's either stated somewhere in the original that it takes place in 1994 or stated outright in GX that there's a 10 year gap. I'm unaware of evidence of either. Plus I think the ten year thing before GX Episode 156 aired. -- Deltaneos (talk) 01:27, January 9, 2011 (UTC)

According to 4kids.com Yugi and his friends are all freshman making them between 14 and 15---Brooke Echegaray (talkcontribs) 14:48, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

When the manga/anime begins, Yugi and his friends are in the 10th grade, so we can predict that they are between 15 and 16. This means, according to the Japanese education structure, that they were 1st years in high school. --Ghaleonh41 (talkcontribs) 15:23, December 11, 2011 (UTC)

Time for 10th Anniversary[edit]

Something I've been thinking about for a bit. Yugi definatly doesn't know who Judai is during the movie, yet we have it as being after the final episode of GX. While he seems not to know him then, he never outright says, "Hey, who're you?" like he did in the movie. Battle City would probably be talked about for a while, so seeing the flyer in GX could mean it happened up to a few months after the tournament itself, giving room for the movie. Thoughts? --DARK 02:57, June 29, 2011 (UTC)

The next indent is long and probably confusing. If you want to tl;dr, skip to where I've outdented.
These years aren't necessarily accurate. It's just to make my point. If in 2007, Jaden goes back to 1997 and meets Yugi and in 22XX, Paradox goes back a few times and stops in 1996. There are three timelines we're interested in:
  1. Nothing gets altered.
  2. 1996 isn't altered. 1997 is altered and Yugi meets Jaden.
  3. 1996 is altered and Yugi meets Jaden. 1997 may or may not get altered later on.
At the end of GX, we see timeline 2, so Yugi and Jaden meet for the first time in this timeline. In the film, we see timeline 3, so Yugi and Jaden meet for the first time in this timeline. That does indeed put the Duel with Paradox earlier in history than Yugi's Duel against Jaden.
If we instead said Jaden went to 1996 and Paradox went to 1997, Yugi should know Jaden in the Duel with Paradox, which you've said he doesn't, so that version doesn't make sense.
However the film implies that independent timelines aren't created. e.g. Yusei in timeline 2, finding events from timeline 2.5 (Paradox going back to Jaden's time) in history archives. So Paradox going to Jaden's time may have prevented Jaden from going back to 1996 later, so before Paradox went back to 1997, Yugi and Jaden's encounter in 1996 was erased from history, meaning Yugi shouldn't recognise Jaden in 1997. So "Meeting Jaden" happening before the film is possible this way. But this type of time travel creates loads of inconsistencies, so you can't really apply logic to it.
Maybe we should just put an ===Alternate timelines=== section at the end of the biography and put ====Meeting Jaden==== and ====Yu-Gi-Oh! 3D Bonds Beyond Time==== as subections of it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 15:09, July 5, 2011 (UTC)
Not a bad idea. --109.93.8.188 (talk) 09:21, July 7, 2011 (UTC)
Shouldn't we make the same thing for Yami Yugi? --The Goblin (talkcontribs) 23:01, August 5, 2011 (UTC)
I think we should. -- Deltaneos (talk) 10:41, August 6, 2011 (UTC)

Father-son/brotherly relationship[edit]

It keeps getting added that Yugi and Yami Yugi share a father-son or brotherly relationship. I strongly disagree with the father-son one. They have helped each other, but neither has done any fatherly duties for the other. Brotherly is more plausible, but I still disagree. They haven't been through much sibling stuff that friends don't go through. I suppose you could say that they at least live together, which is something brothers do moreso than friends, but that part of their lives is rarely explored and I'm sure Yugi is just in control of his body most of the time their at home anyway. Even if there are a few points that could be thrown in in favour of father-son/brotherly, I still think it's much more of an opinion than a fact. -- Deltaneos (talk) 15:08, August 7, 2011 (UTC)

Year of birth[edit]

Yugi and the rest of the cast were born in the year of the metal monkey, which is 1980, except for jounouchi who is born in 1981, but he is still a monkey because chinese new year doesn't start until feb 4 1981 when it changes from metal monkey to metal rooster. —This unsigned comment was made by 38.111.99.136 (talkcontribs) 03:55, 25 November 2011 (UTC)

Was it stated somewhere that all the characters were born in this year? It does seem plausible though:
  • The year 1997 is printed on yo-yos in Duel 048.
  • Jonouchi is said to be 16 in Duel 042.
  • It's reasonable to assume Duel 42 is set after his birthday, since Duels 45, 46 and 47 take place not too long afterwards and it's definitely summer in those chapters.
  • Being 16 after his birthday in 1997 → he was born in 1981.
But I thought it was presumptuous to assume the year on the yo-yo is definitely the year the chapter is set. If you have proof that the characters were born in the year of the metal monkey that should clench it. -- Deltaneos (talk) 13:13, November 25, 2011 (UTC)
Unfortunately we can never get the actual "proof" that they were born in those years because Takahashi merely stated their birth DAYS not the YEAR. So its unfortunate that we cannot get proof from any sources but I had to point this out because someone before me edited the year of Yugi, Joey, Tea, Kaiba to all be different birth years like 1979 and 1977. I just wanted to make it clear to them that even though we have no official proof about the years they were born but if we had to speculate the best guess would be 1980, or 1981 in Jounouchi's case. — This unsigned comment was made by 38.111.99.136 (talkcontribs) 00:58, November 26, 2011

Yugi being a reincarnation of Atem[edit]

Why does it say that Yugi is absolutely NOT a reincarnation of Atem. It was directly said by Ishizu during the Ceremonial Battle. Scheepybird (talkcontribs) 14:40, September 13, 2015 (UTC)
