Asian Tournament Promos: 2000[edit]

Hello Jump Enemy. I'd just want to welcome you to the wiki and say that you're doing a great job with documenting all the very old Yu-Gi-Oh! stuff. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:29, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Thank you... i saw there was little information about some things, so i decided to add what i knew. untill i will have new stuff to upload i will continue to do it... my sources are quite reliable, however as soon as i find out something new and more reliable i will post it, good job. \\\||||//// Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 23:30, October 23, 2010 (UTC)

Where are you getting all this old stuff, may I ask? And any chance you could find one of Fungi of the Musk? Flame Deity (talkcontribs) 03:20, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

i get that from all the web... i search for japanese sites, official and private blogs about Yugioh and other sources... e-commerce sites... after i have found all the data i'm searching for, i do a compare among all the files and data... obviusly i discard the thing that are not sure.

some interesting sites are ocg-card.com, rakuten.co.jp or geocities. \\\||||//// Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 12:57, October 29, 2010 (UTC)

Since you're checking Japanese sites, can I assume you can speak Japanese? Would it be okay if I occasionally asked you for help with translating stuff? -- Deltaneos (talk) 00:32, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

no....i can't speak japanese, maybe some words, but i always use a translator, the important thing is to understand the real sense. however if i could help with a translation i'd do it. \\\\||||//// Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 14:06, November 2, 2010 (UTC)

Say, I'm concerned that some of your pictures may not be actual scans of a card. Note that several of them have no number. Flame Deity (talkcontribs) 02:30, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

you are right, but these images are exactly like the real ones despite they lack the number and eye of anubis. i take this type of images from Gaccha.jp just because there are no other scans on the net. i don't know if this site modifies the images or these type of card really exists: i will try to find out it. \\\\||||//// Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 20:57, December 29, 2010 (UTC)

I asked for the card images and discovered that the scans are all taken from the Valuable Book, so in japan they are official. Maybe, when they can't get the real scan for the VB, they simply take the image from konami, which give them the printing plates. however from now i will upload only real scans. \\\\||||//// Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 20:42, January 17, 2011 (UTC)

DM video game[edit]

hi, already done! that's how i get these screenshots and informations about this game for the article. Super Liar Exodia already spotted as a liar! {{SUBST:SCaps|Yamimillenium}} - {{SUBST:SCaps|Me Contacter}} 13:10, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

yes, i suspected it, but i wonder if the other cheats (cards from 351 to 365) are lies too... cheat mode exists but cheats don't work... or maybe it is a "trick" just to change player's name (you choose it at the very beginning of the game)... however i will try again to find some information /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 21:17, April 21, 2011 (UTC)

Need your advice[edit]

Hi mate. Since you're into old stuff from yugioh like I am, i would like your oppinion on that subject. Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 21:12, May 2, 2011 (UTC)

Buch 10[edit]

I've replied to your comment on Talk:Buch 10 Promo. Just letting you know, in case you're not keeping an eye on that page after nearly three months. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:28, June 4, 2011 (UTC)

    • I did indeed use ygo-card.de as the source for it. Nearest thing to anything reliable on it at the time.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 10:23, June 5, 2011 (UTC)
      • Although it wasn't the page you mentioned. At least it didn't have that info on it at the time. The page merely said "Buch 10 Promo", nothing else on it at the time.--TwoTailedFox (My Talk Page) 10:56, June 5, 2011 (UTC)

do you really have that dark magician girl? i heard only about 400 was printed and its worth about a 1000 dollars??

Dark Magician Girl[edit]

Yep, beautiful pic! When i'll be rich, I'll buy all this old cool stuff haha I only got the 1st edition MFC american secret rare and all the french editions too (Tin box, RP, DB2 etc...) Wilimut TalkMail Paris, 19:42, June 9, 2011 (UTC)

Keep up the good works.[edit]

It is great to see some high quality pics of Japanese cards being uploaded.

Jump Festa 1999/2000[edit]

Are you sure about this rename? Konami seem to be calling it "1999" in their database. -- Deltaneos (talk) 21:23, July 28, 2012 (UTC)

yes, i am sure, i don't know why some sites call it JF 99... maybe just because it was released in that year. here it is ****. this is an official poster of the event, it reports date, year and event name. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 15:48, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
Are you sure that's the same event? Konami lists 1999-10-21 as the release date on their database. That poster says 1999-12-18 to 1999-12-19. Could Jump Festa and V Jump Festa be two different events, the latter of which had the promotional card? -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:32, July 29, 2012 (UTC)
i haven't found any reference to another event, but if you check all Jump Festa's dates of release, you will find out that they are always held on 15th-30th period of december; so the latter event must be the JF...on the net i can't find any reference to a V Jump Card Festa held in 1999, morover the VJCF always takes place on summer. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 22:49, July 30, 2012 (UTC)

Starter Box preorder 2 → Meeting experience[edit]

I've (finally) deleted the Starter Box: Preorder Promo 2 page. Could you take a look at Duel Monster II tournament meeting experience promotional card, the promo it was confused with, and see if there's anything wrong with it? Thanks. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:11, August 8, 2012 (UTC)

"黒魔導士", "B・M" and "Be・W・D"[edit]

Could you add information about these three cards to Weekly Shōnen Jump promotional cards and/or Set Card Galleries:Weekly Shōnen Jump promotional cards (OCG-JP) please? Where they come from seems like something readers would definitely want to know. Thanks. -- Deltaneos (talk) 18:31, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

  • i'm sorry i don't really have the time to do a deep research now, all i know about these cards is that there are 1000 copies each, they were subscription bonuses distributed at random. their value goes from 600 to 1500 $ each... that's all. i made some research about the 2 asian-english cards but i can't figure out from which issue they came. the chinese Dark Magician (like the Vjmp chinese bewd) comes from the 1st issue of 2000, but the asian-english ones are rumoured to come from the 27th issue of 2001; that's strange however because they have the very first layout and that number of wjmp seems not to have any kind of content about yugioh franchise at all..... /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 21:08, January 20, 2013 (UTC)
Oh, that's okay. I'd rather not inconvenience you. Thanks for the info you were able to give. I might dig around myself later and see what else I can find. -- Deltaneos (talk) 22:27, January 20, 2013 (UTC)

Images[edit]

Hi Jump Enemy. Any chance you could track down un-watermarked images of the cards in this gallery? --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 18:57, January 21, 2013 (UTC)

  • sorry i don't know when i'll have the time to do that, when i find something i usually upload it at once, but on the net it is rare to find good images of the R1 booster... i can find all them but they will be like 300x200 so they are useless.. as soon as i find big and clear images i will upload them. be sure that in a few time ALL card images on wikia will be quite perfect. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 23:40, January 22, 2013 (UTC)

Cover cards[edit]

Are those new ones you've been adding to Structure Deck pages on the back of the boxes? -- Deltaneos (talk) 17:04, June 26, 2013 (UTC)

no, i saw this: http://www.jakarade.com/index.php?page=search11&search=Original%20Structure%20Deck%201 but i didn't add that those are alternative "first" cards of the deck, i also deleted the cover cards on the box because they could be confused with the ones in the box, i'd better specify this and maybe add the box cover cards as "box cover cards" or something like that.
PS
recently i bought some books like the Master Guide and some game strategy guides, so i was thinking of scanning and uploading all the pages, would it be a problem for copyright in your opinion? remember that they have at least 10 years and are discontinued
/////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 23:01, June 26, 2013 (UTC)
I see. So there are various cards visible through the window on the box. Although, I think the term "cover card" more specifically refers to the cards printed on the packaging. Maybe a separate "window card" parameter might suffice?
Unfortunately, even in those circumstances it would still technically be copyright violation. The copyright of anything published after 1977 won't be considered expired in the United States, until whichever is shortest; 90 years after the death of the author, 95 years after its publication, 120 years after its creation or the time it expires in its country of origin. Copyright in Japan expires whichever is shortest; 50 years after the death of the author, 50 years after its publication or 50 years after its creation, if unpublished. So the first Master Guide is probably protected until 2054. -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:11, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
While it makes no difference in this case, it's probably worth pointing out that books such as the Master Guide books, written under corporate authorship, use date of publication to determine whether (and when) they fall into the public domain (unless they're unpublished, in which case they fall back to date of creation). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 16:56, June 27, 2013 (UTC)
But ummm... taking good high-quality scans/pictures of pages in the Master Guide would be appreciated, especially the card storylines. We need them especially from the Duel Terminal Master Guide and Master Guides 1 and 2. Feel free to upload them on another site and then provide a link on your talk page. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 03:27, June 28, 2013 (UTC)
i understand, my hope was that, even if the books are still affected by copyright, no one would have actually took care of contesting something like this, since these books aren't bringing money to Konami or anyone else for years.... as for the books currently i have only the Master Guide 1, Yugioh! DM1 (gameboy) guides 1 & 2, Japanese DM2 DDS guides 1 & 2, the JP DM3 guides 1 & 2 and last but not least the Valuable Book 1. i think i'll buy the master guide 2 and 3 but the Duel Terminal one is very expensive right now, i'm going to upload all to another site sooner or later, it will take some time. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 15:32, June 28, 2013 (UTC)
Ooh, I'm particularly interested in the old game guides. If you don't mind a request, could you also keep an eye out for the MCBB guide? (I'd give you a full list of requests, but it would end up just being a complete run-down of YGO-related books, though I am also interested in the other Valuable Books... =D ) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 06:26, June 29, 2013 (UTC)

Glory of the King's Hand[edit]

Do you happen to remember where you got this image from? Thanks, Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 05:38, January 10, 2014 (UTC)

  • i think [here], but now it's not very difficult to find real pictures of the card. this one was from yugioh online i guess /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 21:51, January 14, 2014 (UTC)

Konami's Duel Monsters Seiyaryu[edit]

Hey Jump Enemy, are you aware of any information about Seiyaryu (DM)? Based on what I could glean from a Google Translate of its auction page, it seems to have been a meeting experience card associated with Duel Monsters 1, but I don't even have a tentative release date for it. Thanks! ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:21, August 9, 2014 (UTC)

  • sorry no, never heard of this card before, i only know there was another "old konami format card" but i never searched for it. however i think the info given in the auction is quite complete. this meeting couldn't be a tournament because the cards didn't exist, i guess it was the pre-order promo for DM1 or maybe the invitation promo for who wanted to subscribe to the DM1 tournament of 1999. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 22:47, August 13, 2014 (UTC)
So you think this is the other card you were aware of, right? And are you able to provide a better translation of the auction's description? ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 00:13, August 14, 2014 (UTC)
yes, this is the only old layout promo by konami and, for what i found out today, this event was the very same type of event of Aqua Madoor UScR for DM2:DDS. for the translation (using google, babylon and making some adjustments):"a very small number of this item was distributed at a meeting experience held before the release of the first DM software for GamBoy. the copies of these item are very few because it was distributed in only six stores though the nation before YuGiOh exploded in popularity." then he\she states to have attended the event and received personally the card. also on the JP Wiki (forth point under the 2nd paragraph) it is stated that it "was released as a collector's card in a meeting experience prior to the release of YGO DM1" and then i'm not able to figure out what the rest means but seems to be like "the YGO OCG appeared as this collector's card attached to the game." also states "it was distributed later as a lottery present through the Red Circle Jump, but only five pieces were distributed by this method.". this is all i got, it is a mysterious event like the one before DM2 like i said before, i would assume that this "meeting experience (体験会)" is a specific compound of words to target a specific type of game-related event. the problem is that i have no idea of what it means in the japanese game culture. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 00:02, August 15, 2014 (UTC)
Aah, thanks. I actually asked because I didn't know for sure if you spoke Japanese, since if you did, you'd be able (hopefully) to provide a better translation than I'd have gotten from Google Translate or other automatic translation services. As it is, though, your translation work here looks to be better than what I would have managed, and the yugioh-wiki.net link will help too when I get around to creating a set article for the promo. =) ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 02:33, August 15, 2014 (UTC)

Early Asian-English and Chinese magazine promos[edit]

Hey Jump Enemy, can you offer any insight into the correct release dates for the Asian English and Chinese Dark Magicians and Blue-Eyes White Dragons released with issues of V Jump and Weekly Shonen Jump in 1999, as well as which was released where? None of these four promos appear in the official database, and as far as I can tell, the information we have on them here is incomplete and contradictory. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 13:40, March 12, 2015 (UTC)

this is one of the big mysteries... i think this site is very reliable WJ - VJ and it states that the 2 AsianEnglish promos were released with Weekly Shonen Jump N°27 of 2001, i guess around june or july 2001. the chinese ones were distributed using the well-known method of the lottery, like all the Limited Editions and the V-Jump Editions later, they publicise this lottery on tv and on the back of some Booster pack or Structure Deck, you simply have to send an e-mail or a letter with the proof you bought that product and you will participate to the extraction (in this case the lottery was limited to 1000 pieces). keep in mind that i'm only assuming this because of the high probability, i found no clue about all this. so the chinese ones were given on december 1999 for the N°1 issue of 2000 (both Wj and VJ), for the VJUMP the date should be the same every month, i dont remember now. the strange thing is about the Asian-English ones, i found an image of the N°27 WJ of 2001, and there was no info on the cover nor on the back about the promos... this is strange; moreover why would you release two promos in 2001 with a card format used before march 2000? i have no idea. then about where they were released, i don't know it either, but i would say in japan only. china, korea and thailand also could sell japanese boosters i guess, but couldn't get promos and such limited things.
PS
do you remember some time ago i said i would have uploaded some scans of old books? i think i'm going to do it these days. would it still be of any help? /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 15:25, March 12, 2015 (UTC)
Aah, that should help some then. Thanks! I'll have a look through an archive of WSJ covers and see if I find anything relevant there.
Yeah, I remember that. I'm not sure it'd be immediately helpful, since we'll still need someone to transcribe or just directly translate them, but having them around and available to look at shouldn't hurt. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:07, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
A quick look turned up https://www.flickr.com/photos/akito_h/9338051197/in/set-72157634743430182, though unfortunately it's not high enough resolution for me to be sure of whether the cards are Asian-English/Chinese or just Japanese. But we don't have any records of other Series 1 magazine promos, so I'm willing to call this what we're looking for. ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:46, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
After looking through all the WSJ covers from 1998 to 2001, I didn't spot any others that looked relevant, though I might've just overlooked one; for example, I managed to miss the cover for the issue that Archfiend of Gilfer was released in, and I almost missed the one for Amazoness Chain Master. Unfortunately, I don't know of a similar archive for V Jump covers (there's this, but unfortunately it skips straight from 1997 to 2005). ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:59, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
mmmhh... i see. from what i can understand on the cover N°12 1999: ""YU-GI-OH! Official Duel Monsters Starter Box... (kanji writings)"". i think this isn't the info we were searching for... these two cards, Dark Magician and Hitotsu-Me Giant, were released a month earlier in the Volume 1. or maybe that is our Dark Magician (chinese?), but what about Hitostu-me giant? and why there's a reference to the immininent release of the starter box (march 18th)? the mystery deepens... /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 13:33, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
I thought that second card didn't look like BEWD... Dark Magician and Hitotsu-Me Giant were also released in EX Starter Box (actually, funnily enough, comparing their database pages shows they were in the same sets for their first four releases documented there), but that wasn't until December; Konami wouldn't have been promoting its release a half-year in advance, would they?
Also, while I've got your ear, you wouldn't happen to have a comment for Talk:Jump Festa 2000, would you? ディノ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 13:44, March 13, 2015 (UTC)
i let you know i did answer on the JF 1999 talk page. when that WSJ N°12 was released (march 1), the first starter box was to be released in two weeks, so they couldnt already advertise the EX starter box of december. maybe it is only an advertise for the starter box... would be useful someone who can translate that kanji after "starter box...." on the cover, it would solve the puzzle. /////||||||\\\\\ Jump Enemy (talkcontribs) 14:34, March 13, 2015 (UTC)

Looking for a source for an old card[edit]

Hi Jump! I know you haven't been around for a while, but I'm hoping you'll still get this message and be able to help me out. About six years ago you uploaded this image. I don't expect you'd remember the source off the top of your head, but is there a chance you have a list of bookmarks for sites with JP images, so that I could try to find where you got it from? It appears to be a Normal Parallel Rare, but the JP database doesn't list that monster as having been printed in that rarity. I'm trying to figure out if it was a misprint, or if there is a database error, or if it might just be in a sleeve that mimics the NPR look. If you can help it would be amazing, but if not I understand.

Kind regards. --Golden Key (talkcontribs) 14:46, December 17, 2017 (UTC)
