Yugipedia:Requests for rollback

From Yugipedia
Jump to: navigation, search

This page can be used to request permission to use the rollback feature. Rollback enables users to quickly revert edits. Users with this feature should ideally have a history of reverting spam/vandalism, understand the difference between good and bad faith edits and know when to use explanations when reverting edits.

Shardsilver[edit]

I'd like to have it so I can revert vandalism faster (especialy the obvious kind like "Replaced content with" "Removing all content from page", etc, that doesn't need to even be checked first. Tends to annoy me a lot when I have to click the "Compare selected revisions" then undo, type reason, then do it all over again because that same vandal changed the page, in which case I just wasted my time. I revert vandalism often, and It'd be good to have something to help me remove it even quicker. Shardsilver (talkcontribs) 00:20, March 28, 2012 (UTC)

Golden Key[edit]

Requesting this tool to be better able to undo vandalism by spammers and whatnot. Will be a real time-saver in those cases. I do reverts often, and I believe my history shows that I know the difference between good and bad faith edits and comment appropriately. Golden Key (talkcontribs) 18:55, March 29, 2012 (UTC)

Aged Goblin[edit]

I would like to request rollback status as I reported vandalism once and occasionally undo spams and edits with insulting content. It's bothersome when a vandal makes few edits in a row, so I have to save the last good revision. However, that can result in edit conflict if the vandal or someone else edits the page before I can save the corresponding revision. I think such situations can be avoided by using the 'revert' option, which is also a faster way to undo a vandalism. -- The Goblin  I'm feelin' the flow  01:50, March 31, 2012 (UTC)

Seems okay for the most part. Not too major a problem, but how come you didn't use summaries for the following undos: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6? -- Deltaneos (talk) 10:01, March 31, 2012 (UTC)
I thought it wasn't necessary to write summaries at that time. Here are the reasons why I undid these edits, if I may explain:
No. 1: Owners were changed before airing of the episode where Yuma obtained those cards. That would be kind of speculation, which isn't allowed. I posted an explanation to the user after I undid their edit. [1]
No. 2: A powerful card used only in one duel was added as someone's ace. If no special connection is evidenced or the card is used only once, it shouldn't be listed.
No. 3 & 4: Jaden's profile picture with his most recent look was replaced with an earlier look for X time. All such previous edits were undone.
No. 5: A needless "trivia" section was added instead of adding the info to the corresponding existing "appearance" section. I think I should have moved that info rather than undoing the edit.
No. 6: Anime name of a card was changed to its TCG name. I posted an explanation to the user after I undid their edit. [2]

Spongebob456[edit]

I feel this right would very useful to me as I have reverted many edits in the past, most of them being due to vandalism. I try my very best to use edit summaries after every edit, explaining what the problem is each time. As you my have noticed, my userpage was vandalised repeatedly in the space of a few minutes, and that is where Rollback rights would have been useful. I am aware of how to use the rights as I am granted them automatically due to my Adminship on the SpongeBob SquarePants wiki Thank you. --Spongebob456 (Talk) 18:49, January 8, 2013 (UTC)

UltimateKuriboh[edit]

Doesn't happen often, but sometimes I unable to revert an edit with 1 click of the undo button (as what happened today with my talk page). It would help facilitate any extreme vandals I see in the future. Why not me? (And yeah, I'll rollback/undo at least 2 times before reporting for an admin. DreadKaiser[edit]

Requesting the right so that I may revert Vandalism and bad edits faster. Reverting a load of minor edits 1 by 1 is tedious and I see the need for it more often then I would like. Especially for that one guy that keeps altering the Exodia VS Mind Drain ruling I answered, he's done it like 4 times. Reverting vandalism and answering ruling queries are all I really do here now, so being able to do it more efficiently would be nice Dread (talkcontribs) 23:53, October 4, 2015 (UTC)

Becasita[edit]

I never needed this, but now I found out that I couldn't revert an edit because there was another edit in the middle that consisted in a * . So I think this might be useful for me in the future. I am aware of how this works, and I don't intend to use this to solve disputes nor engage on edit wars with this. I'm just requesting this feature to fight vandalism/nonsense. Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 21:12, March 27, 2016 (UTC)

I presume you're referring to these edits. It is possible to use "undo" to revert multiple consecutive edits if you view a diff showing them all. That example doesn't appear to be vandalism, so it's probably better to use an edit summary (which you did) than rollback. Overall, you've been making appropriate use of edit summaries and no history of edit wars, so rollback has been granted. -- Deltaneos (talk) 19:03, April 9, 2016 (UTC)
Yes, it was in that example that I found that rollback could be more useful than I first thought. I know in that particular case I wouldn't need rollback. But suppose a situation where a user just starts making multiple quick edits with small things. Like what happened a while ago. I wouldn't have the chance to revert all of those, since that user kept making small edits. So I just copied the last non-vandalized version of the page. But loading the History and "diff"/"oldid" pages takes a bit.
Thanks a lot, I'll try to make good use of it. Becasita Pendulum (talkcontribs) 19:34, April 9, 2016 (UTC)
