A '''monster effect''' is a [[card effect]] produced by a [[Monster Card]]. Under normal circumstances, only [[Effect Monster]]s can produce monster effects.
*[[Ignition Effect]]: [[Optional]] [[Spell Speed 1]] effect that can be activated in any open [[game state]] during the [[Main Phase]] (some cards have Ignition Effects that can be activated during other [[Phase]]s).
*[[Trigger Effect]]: [[Spell Speed 1]] effect that has a specific activation timing. Can be either [[optional]] or [[mandatory effect|mandatory]].
**[[Flip effect]]: Kind Special type of Trigger Effect that activates when the monster is [[flip]]ped [[face-up]] (even in the [[Damage Step]]). Can be either optional or mandatory. It was previously an independent Was formerly its own effect type.*[[Quick Effect]]: Special type of Trigger or Ignition Effect that is [[Spell Speed 2]] effectand can be activated on the opponent's turn.
