Forum:Aegis of Gaia / Spell of Pain

I went to view the card Aegis of Gaia. There is a new errata'd version of the card stating that you take 3000 points of damage. Does this mean that card effects like Spell of Pain will work in a chain against Aegis of Gaia's effect?

Exactly! You must always follow the new errata'd text of a card. ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 05:01, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for your insight. I also had another question. The OCG ruling says the effect of Aegis of Gaia does not create a Chain Link. Does that mean I can't chain Spell of Pain to Aegis of Gaia's effect? Metisou (talkcontribs) 05:03, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

1. Spell of Pain and Barrel Behind the Door can only be activated in chain to an effect which inflicts damage. Since Aegis of Gaia does not start a chain, you can't activate them.

2. The OCG text specifies that "Spell of Pain" can only be activated when an opponent's effect inflicts damage.-- HHTurtle  (Talk) 06:50, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Does the OCG ruling apply to all cards in official tournaments even if they have conflicting descriptions on the card? Metisou (talkcontribs) 07:03, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

The OCG rulings are used in all OCG tournaments. TCG follow their own rulings but they rarely stray far from the OCG rulings.-- HHTurtle  (Talk) 07:05, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

When playing against players in local tournaments that don't specify TCG or OCG which one takes precedence over the other? Thanks for the help. :)Metisou (talkcontribs) 07:08, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

The TCG is played worldwide, but mostly in North America, Europe and Australia. The OCG is played mainly in Japan and parts of Asia.-- HHTurtle  (Talk) 07:13, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Thanks for all your help, HHTurtle. This will make things clearer for me when viewing future Specific Rulings. Metisou (talkcontribs) 07:23, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

I have one last question, just to confirm I got this right. Aegis of Gaia's OCG ruling that says, "When "Aegis of Gaia" is removed from the field, its effect which has you take damage does not start a Chain Link." Would this be true for the TCG Rulings as well? Metisou (talkcontribs) 07:35, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Even with the new errata, the effect that inflicts damage does not start a chain in the TCG and OCG.-- HHTurtle  (Talk) 07:37, July 9, 2010 (UTC)

Yes, the same applies for the TCG, thus you can't chain effects to it like Spell of Pain. (Forgot to mention that above!) ATEMVEGETA (Talk) 07:40, July 9, 2010 (UTC)
