The Master of Magicians, Part 2, known as Black Magic of the Soul in the Japanese version, is the sixty-first episode of Yu-Gi-Oh!. It aired in Japan on June 26, 2001, and in the US on February 8, 2003.

Turn 4: Arkana
Arkana draws. He then Normal Summons "Mystic Tomato" in Defense Position (1400 ATK / 1100 DEF). Arkana then Sets 1 card. (NOTE: In the anime, "Mystic Tomato" is a Normal Monster but in the real game, "Mystic Tomato" is an Effect Monster).
Turn 5: Yami
Yami draws. He then Normal Summons "Beta The Magnet Warrior" in Attack Position (1700 ATK / 1600 DEF). Because Yami summoned a monster, Arkana activates Set Trap Card "Dark Renewal", sending both "Beta The Magnet Warrior" and "Mystic Tomato" to the Graveyard in order to Special Summon his "Dark Magician" from the Graveyard in Attack Position (2500 ATK / 2100 DEF). Yami Sets 2 cards.
Turn 6: Arkana
Arkana draws. He then Sets 2 cards.
Turn 7: Yami
Yami draws. He then Sets 1 card.
Turn 8: Arkana
Arkana draws. He then Sets 1 card.
Turn 9: Yami
Yami draws. He then Sets 1 card.
Turn 10: Arkana
Arkana draws. He then Sets 1 card. Next Arkana activates Set Magic Card "Mystic Guillotine" to destroy Yami's "Dark Magician". Yami activates Set Quick-Play Magic Card "Magical Hats" to create four Hats, hide his "Dark Magician in one of them and shuffle the hats up. "Mystical Guillotine" destroys a "Hat", but it turns out to be empty. Arkana activates Set Magic Card "Thousand Knives" to automatically destroy the hat that contains Yami's "Dark Magician, but Yami activates Set Quick-Play Magic Card "Cursebreaker"; to negate and destroy both "Thousand Knives" and "Magical Hats". Arkana's "Dark Magician" attacks Yami's "Dark Magician". Since both monsters have the same ATK, they are destroyed in a Double KO. Both Arkana and Yugi then activate their Set Magic Card "Monster Reborn" to Special Summon their respective "Dark Magician" from the Graveyard to the field in Attack Position (2500 ATK / 2100 DEF for both "Dark Magicians").
Turn 11: Yami
Yami Draws. He then passes his turn.
Turn 12: Arkana
Arkana draws. He then Sets 1 card.
Turn 13: Yami
Yami draws. He then Sets 2 cards.
Turn 14: Arkana
Arkana activates Magic Card "Beckon to Darkness" to send Yami's "Dark Magician" to the Graveyard, but Yami activates Trap Card "Mystical Refpanel" to negate the effect of "Beckon to Darkness" and use the effect of "Beckon to Darkness" on Arkana's "Dark Magician" instead. (NOTE: In the Anime, "Beckon to Darkness" is called "Beckon to the Dark"). Arkana replies by activating "Nightmare Chains", negating "Mystical Refpanel's" effect and destroying it. The secondary effect of "Nightmare Chains" also forbids Yami "Dark Magician" from attacking or changing its battle position. Since Yami's "Dark Magician" is the only monster he controls, the third effect of "Nightmare Chains" allows Arkana's monsters to attack Yami directly. Arkana's "Dark Magician" then attacks Yami directly (Yami 4000 → 1500 Life Points).
Turn 15: Yami
Yami draws. He then Normal Summons "Big Shield Gardna" in Defense Position (100 ATK / 2600 DEF).
Turn 16: Arkana
Arkana draws. He then Normal Summons "Doll of Demise" in Attack Position (1600 ATK / 1700 DEF). Next he activates Magic Card "Ectoplasmer". On Arkana's End Phase, he tributes "Doll of Demise to inflict damage to Yami equal to half of "Doll of Demise's" ATK (Yami 1500 → 700 Life Points).
Turn 17: Yami
Yami passes.
Turn 18: Arkana
On Arkana's End Phase, he tributes his "Dark Magician" to inflict damage to Yami equal to half the ATK of "Dark Magician", but since both players control a "Dark Magician" when this occurred, both "Dark Magician" are sent to the Graveyard, and all damage that Yami would have taken is negated.
Changes to the English Version
- "Dark Renewal's" star is given five more points in the dub.
- "Mystic Guillotine's" blade is glowy in the dub.
- A bit showing Pandora/Arkana running from the flames was cut from the US version.
- In the Japanese version, "Dark Magician" is chained to a cross. In the dub it's a slab.
- "Doll of Demise's" axe and knives are obscured in the dub.
