Featured Duel #1: Rebecca Hawkins vs. Leon Wilson - Part 2

Duel continues from previous episode.

Turn 9: Rebecca Hawkins
Rebecca draws "Pot of Greed", and subsequently activates it, drawing 2 cards. She then Normal Summons "Witch of the Black Forest" (1100/1200) in Attack Position. "Witch of the Black Forest" attacks and destroys "Pumpkin Carriage".

Turn 10: Leon Wilson
Leon draws. "Cinderella" attacks and destroys "Witch of the Black Forest" (Rebecca 1300 → 1100). Since it was destroyed, the effect of "Witch of the Black Forest" activates, allowing Rebecca to add 1 monster with 1500 or less DEF from her Deck to her hand. She chooses "Ruby Dragon". During his Main Phase 2, Leon Normal Summons "Tom Thumb" (1300/1500) in Defense Position. He then Sets a card.

Turn 11: Rebecca Hawkins
Rebecca draws. She Normal Summons "Ruby Dragon" (1600/1200) in Attack Position. She then activates "Dragon's Fire", choosing to activate its second effect that destroys a monster with a maximum of 800 DEF.[Notes 1] The only suitable monster is "Cinderella", so it is destroyed. "Ruby Dragon" attacks "Tom Thumb", but Leon activates "Negate Attack" to negate the attack and end the Battle Phase.[Notes 2] During her Main Phase 2, Rebecca Sets 2 cards.

Turn 12: Leon Wilson
Leon draws. He activates "Giant's Training", Tributing "Tom Thumb" to Special Summon "Globerman" (2600/2000) from his Deck in Attack Position. "Globerman" attacks and destroys "Ruby Dragon" (Rebecca 1100 → 100). Rebecca activates "Rope of Life" in response, allowing her to discard her entire hand to Special Summon her destroyed "Ruby Dragon" from her Graveyard with 800 extra ATK. Rebecca has no cards in her hand at this point, so she just revives "Ruby Dragon" (1600/1200) in Attack Position. It then gains 800 ATK ("Ruby Dragon": 1600 → 2400/1200).[Notes 3] Rebecca then activates her face-down "Adamantine Sword Revival", Tributing "Ruby Dragon" to Special Summon "Diamond Head Dragon" (?/2800) from her Deck in Attack Position. The ATK of "Diamond Head Dragon" is equal to the ATK of "Ruby Dragon" (when it was Tributed) plus 1000 ("Diamond Head Dragon": ? → 3400/2800).

Turn 13: Rebecca Hawkins
Rebecca draws "Dragon's Rage". "Diamond Head Dragon" attacks and destroys "Globerman" (Leon 1700 → 900). During her Main Phase 2, Rebecca Sets "Dragon's Rage".

Turn 14: Leon Wilson
Leon draws "Gold Moon Coin" and subsequently activates it. Leon gives Rebecca his entire hand (he has only 1 card: "Spinning Wheel Spindle") and draws the same number of cards he just gave, so he draws 1 card. The card he draws is "One Hundred Year Awakening", and Leon activates it, sending "Curse of Thorns" from his side of the field to the Graveyard to Special Summon "Thorn Princess" (400/1200) from his Deck in Attack Position. The effect of "Thorn Princess" activates when it is Summoned, allowing Leon to take control of 1 monster Rebecca controls. He takes control of "Diamond Head Dragon". "Diamond Head Dragon" attacks Rebecca directly (Rebecca 100 → 0). Leon wins.

Featured Duel #2: Vivian Wong vs. Yami Yugi

(Duel already in progress) Vivian Wong Yami Yugi
2100 LP 3500 LP
"Master Kyonshee" and "Kung-Fu Nyan Nyan" "Dark Magician"
no face-down cards no face-down cards

Vivian's Turn
Vivian draws "Luminous Cloud" and subsequently activates it, Tributing "Master Kyonshee" and "Kung-Fu Nyan Nyan" to Special Summon "Dragon Lady" (2500/2100) in Attack Position. She then activates "Lightning Saber", equipping it to her "Dragon Lady", increasing the equipped monster's ATK by 300 ("Dragon Lady": 2500 → 2800/2100). "Dragon Lady" attacks and destroys "Dark Magician" (Yami 3500 → 3200). Because the equipped monster destroyed an opponent's monster by battle, Vivian activates the effect of "Lightning Saber", halving the ATK of the equipped "Dragon Lady" ("Dragon Lady": 2800 → 1400/2100) until the end of the Battle Phase in order to allow it to attack again. "Dragon Lady" attacks Yami directly (Yami: 3200 → 1800 Life Points). At the end of the Battle Phase, the effect of "Lightning Saber" wears off, returning the ATK of "Dragon Lady" to its original boosted amount ("Dragon Lady": 1400 → 2800/2100).

Yami Yugi's Turn
Yami draws. He Normal Summons "Big Shield Gardna" (100/2600) in Defense Position. Yami then Sets a card.

Vivian's Turn
Vivian draws. "Dragon Lady" attacks "Big Shield Gardna", but Yami activates "Mirror Force" to destroy all Attack Position monsters Vivian controls. Vivian Chains "Snowfall Sword", negating the activation of "Mirror Force" and destroying it. The attack of "Dragon Lady" continues, destroying "Big Shield Gardna". Before "Dragon Lady" attacks though, Vivian activates "Flying Dragon Whirl", selecting her "Dragon Lady". She sends 4 Dragon-Type monsters ("Pitch-Dark Dragon", "Blackland Fire Dragon", "Kiryu" and "Sky Dragon") from her Deck to the Graveyard to have "Dragon Lady" gain 300 ATK for each monster sent, until the End Phase. With four sent, "Dragon Lady" gains 1200 ATK ("Dragon Lady": 1400 → 2600/2100). "Dragon Lady" attacks Yami directly, but Yami discards "Kuriboh" to reduce the Battle Damage to 0. At the end of the Battle Phase, the effect of "Lightning Saber" wears off, but since Vivian ends her turn, the effect of "FLying Dragon Whirl" also wears off during the End Phase, returning the ATK of "Dragon Lady" to its original boosted amount ("Dragon Lady": 2600 → 4000 → 2800/2100).

Yami Yugi's Turn
Yami draws "Skilled Dark Magician" and subsequently Normal Summons it (1900/1700) in Attack Position. Each time a Spell Card is activated, the effect of "Skilled Dark Magician" will place 1 Spell Counter on itself, for a maximum of 3. Yami then activates "Pot of Greed", drawing 2 cards (Spell Counters of "Skilled Dark Magician": 0 → 1). He then activates "Emblem of Dragon Destroyer", adding 1 "Buster Blader" from his Graveyard to his hand (Spell Counters of "Skilled Dark Magician": 1 → 2). Yami also activates "Monster Reincarnation", returning 1 monster from his Graveyard to the Deck.[Notes 4] He chooses "Dark Magician" (Spell Counters of "Skilled Dark Magician": 2 → 3).[Notes 5] Since there are now 3 Spell Counters on "Skilled Dark Magician", Yami Tributes "Skilled Dark Magician" to activate its effect, Special Summoning 1 "Dark Magician" from his Deck (2500/2100) in Attack Position. Yami now activates "Polymerization", fusing "Dark Magician" on the field with "Buster Blader" in his hand to Fusion Summon "Dark Paladin" (2900/2400) in Attack Position. The effect of "Dark Paladin" increases its own ATK by 500 for each Dragon-Type monster on the field and in both players' Graveyards; since there are no Dragon-Type monsters on the field, but 4 of them in Vivian's Graveyard, "Dark Paladin" gains 2000 ATK ("Dark Paladin": 2900 → 4900/2400). "Dark Paladin" attacks and destroys "Dragon Lady" (Vivian 2100 → 0). Yami Yugi wins.

Differences in adaptations

  • When the gang enters the restaurant where Vivian is, an additional shot of the restaurant's tables and the food sparkling is cut.
  • When Solomon explains what happened to him, a sequence of Vivian's fingers going across Solomon's back, then pressing down into his back is removed.
  • Removed from the dub is a shot of a scroll unrolling from a mouth of a dragon statue.
  • The cleavage of "Thorn Princess" is obscured in the English version.

Featured cards

The following cards appeared in this episode. Cards in italics debuted here.

Notes

  1. "Dragon's Fire" is erroneously named in the English dub. It is actually called "Dragon's Gunfire" in the TCG/OCG.
  2. a b Negate Attack" was played as a Quick-Play Spell Card in the Japanese version of this episode. It is a Counter Trap Card in the TCG/OCG.
  3. In the TCG/OCG, you must pay the cost to activate "Rope of Life"; you cannot forgo the cost if you have no cards in your hand, as you must discard at least 1 card to activate it.
  4. In the TCG/OCG, "Monster Reincarnation" instead makes you discard 1 card to target and add 1 monster from your Graveyard to your hand.
  5. Yami Yugi doesn't seem to shuffle "Dark Magician" into his Deck, though this is irrelevant after he uses the effect of "Skilled Dark Magician", which essentially allows him to Special Summon the "Dark Magician" from anywhere.
  6. a b c d This card is sent from her Deck to the Graveyard via the effect of "Flying Dragon Whirl".
  7. This card is sent from her Deck to the Graveyard to activate "Flying Dragon Whirl", only in the Dub. It replaces the "Kiryu" that appeared in the Japanese version.
