OCG Rulings
- You cannot use Fusion Substitute Monsters like "Goddess with the Third Eye" with "Future Fusion", since Fusion Substitute Monsters have no effect while in the deck.[1]
- You cannot use Fusion Substitute Monsters like "Goddess with the Third Eye" when Fusion Summoning "Elemental Hero Absolute Zero". However, "Beastking of the Swamps" and "King of the Swamp" are WATER-Attribute Monsters, so they can be used as normal.[2]
- When Fusion Summoning a monster like "Dark Balter the Terrible" or "Cyber End Dragon" or "Destiny End Dragoon", you must use the Fusion Material Monsters that are specifically listed on the card. You cannot use a Fusion Substitute Monster like "Goddess with the Third Eye" or "King of the Swamp" as a Fusion Material Monster.[3]
- When Special Summoning "Gem-Knight Ruby" from the Extra Deck, you can only use the Fusion Materials which are written on the card. You cannot use "Goddess with the Third Eye" as a Fusion Material.[4]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[6] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise.
