There are 6 types of icons that represent special properties a Spell or Trap Card may have. Spell and Trap Cards without an icon are called Normal Spell Cards or Normal Trap Cards.

Properties, represented on cards by effect icons (こうアイコン kōka aikon), are similar to Types for Spell and Trap Cards. The additional manga- and anime-only card types Virus and Trap Spell also feature properties.
