Card Rulings:Astral Barrier
OCG Rulings
- The activation of only the card "Astral Barrier" can be performed at any time, except during the Damage Step.[1]
- The effect "If your opponent's monster attacks a monster you control: You can make the attack a direct attack instead" makes a Chain Link. (It does not target.)[1]
- The effect "You can make the attack a direct attack instead" is an effect that can be activated whenever the opponent declares an attack targeting a monster in the player's Monster Zone. (When that attack is declared, the card "Astral Barrier" and its effect can be activated in the same Chain Link.)[1]
- If multiple monsters on the opponent's field each declare an attack targeting a monster(s) in the player's Monster Zones, the effect of "Astral Barrier" can be activated at each attack declaration.[1]

- If a Fusion Monster is Special Summoned with "Magical Scientist", and attacks, you cannot choose to make the attack a direct attack on your Life Points, because the effect of "Magical Scientist" prohibiting this is mandatory, but the effect of "Astral Barrier" is optional.
- The effect of Astral Barrier does not target the attacking monster.

- Call of the Earthbound: If "Earthbound Spirit's Invitation" [sic] is chained to "Astral Barrier", "Astral Barrier" is applied. If "Astral Barrier" is chained to "Earthbound Spirit's Invitation" [sic], "Earthbound Spirit's Invitation" [sic] is applied.
- Mirage Dragon: The effect of this monster makes your opponent unable to activate Set Trap Cards. However, your opponent can still activate the effects of face-up Trap Cards such as..."Astral Barrier".
