- The effect "If there are no monsters on the field, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) as a Level 3 monster" is not an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect. (Special Summoning this way does not start a Chain Link.)[1]
- The effect "If your opponent controls a monster and you control no cards, you can Special Summon this card (from your hand) as a Level 4 monster" is not an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect. (Special Summoning this way does not start a Chain Link.)[1]
- The effect "If this face-up card would leave the field, banish it instead" is not an Ignition Effect, Trigger Effect, Quick Effect, or Continuous Effect.[1]
Q&A Rulings
- Q: My opponent controls a face-up "Stygian Dirge". In this situation, if I Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" as a Level 3 or 4 monster by its own effect, what happens to its Level?
- A: If you Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" by its 1st effect, it is Special Summoned as a Level 3 monster, but its Level is reduced by 1 due to the effect of "Stygian Dirge", and it becomes a Level 2 monster. If you Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" by its 2nd effect, it is Special Summoned as a Level 4 monster, but its Level is reduced by 1 due to the effect of "Stygian Dirge", and it becomes a Level 3 monster.[2]
- Q: My opponent controls an "Evilswarm Ophion" that has Xyz Materials. In this situation, can I Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" as a Level 3 or 4 monster by its own effect?
- A: Even if the Continuous Effect of "Evilswarm Ophion" that prevents Special Summoning Level 5 or higher monsters is being applied, you can Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" by its own effect.[3]
- Q: I activated "Worm Bait" during my turn and I cannot Special Summon Level 3 or 4 monsters. In this situation, can I Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" as a Level 3 or 4 monster by its own effect?
- A: If the effect of "Worm Bait" was applied, you cannot Special Summon "Cockadoodledoo" as a Level 3 or 4 monster by its own effect.[4]
- Q: "Cockadoodledoo" is treated as an Equip Card by the effect of "Relinquished". In this situation, if "Cockadoodledoo" is destroyed by "Mystical Space Typhoon", is it sent to the Graveyard or banished?
- A: Even in this case, the effect "If this face-up card would leave the field, banish it instead" is applied, and "Cockadoodledoo" is banished.[5]
