Card Rulings:Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca
Contents
TCG Rulings
- If you control your opponent's card, you can target it with this effect. The card will return to your opponent's Deck and will count towards the number of cards your opponent must discard at random and the ATK gain for this card.[1]
- If you target a Fusion or Synchro Monster with this effect, it returns to the appropriate Extra Deck and still count towards the number of cards your opponent must discard and the ATK gain for this card.[1]
- If you use "Shrink" on "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" its original ATK becomes 50 but it retains any ATK gained for this effect.[1]
- If you choose to return a Field Spell Card you control to your Deck with the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" you will return the card to your Deck, your opponent will discard as appropriate, this card will gain the appropriate amount of ATK, and then it will destroy itself by its own effect.[1]
- If "Skill Drain" is activated, this card loses any ATK gained from its effect and will not regain it even if "Skill Drain" later leaves the field.[1]
- If this card is turned face-down by a card that is chained to its effect, cards will still be returned to the Deck and your opponent will still discard, but this card will not gain any ATK.[1]
- If your opponent has fewer cards in hand than the number of cards you return to the Deck when this effect resolves, all of their remaining cards are discarded and this card will gain ATK only for each card discarded.[1]
- If your opponent has no cards in hand when you Normal Summon this card, you cannot activate its effect.[1]
OCG Rulings
- When "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" is successfully Normal Summoned, its effect which increases its ATK targets one to three cards on your side of the field.[2]
- When resolving the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", if the opponent has less cards in his hand than the number of targeted cards, then the opponent discards his hand and "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" gains 1000 ATK for each card discarded.[3]
- If "Shrink" affects "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" after it increases its own ATK by its effect, then the ATK of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" increases after its Original ATK is halved.[4]
- Example: "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" has 3100 ATK because of its own effect. When it is affected by "Shrink", its Original ATK of 100 is halved to 50, and then you re-apply the +3000 from the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", for a total of 3050 ATK.[4]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" targets a Quick-Play Spell Card or Normal Trap Card and the card is Chained to the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", then the card will not be returned to the Deck by the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca". However, if "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" targets a Continuous Trap Card and the card is Chained to the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca", then the Continuous Trap Card will be returned to the Deck.[5]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" returns a Field Spell Card to the Deck, then "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" is destroyed after the rest of the effect resolves.[6]
- The effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" may target a Synchro or Fusion monster, or a card owned by your opponent which you control, even though these will not be returned to your Deck. The effect will return them to the Extra Deck or your opponent's Deck, respectively. Also, these returned cards will count towards the number of cards which your opponent must randomly discard from his hand.[7]
- You may select a Token Monster as a target of the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca". However, when resolving the effect, the Token Monster disappears instead of being sent to the Deck, so it is not included in the number of cards which your opponent must randomly discard from his hand.[8]
- When the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Wiraqocha Rasca" activates, you may not target more cards than the number of cards that your opponent has in his hand. Thus, if your opponent has two cards in his hand, then you may only target one or two cards. If your opponent has no cards in his hand, then you cannot target any cards on your side of the field, so the effect is not applied.[9]
Earthbound Immortal Monster Rulings
OCG Rulings
- Even if this card is the only card on your side of the field, your opponent cannot attack you directly.[10][11][12][2][13][14]
- While you control "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc, you can activate the effect of "Phantom of Chaos"/"Neo-Spacian Dark Panther"/etc and target a "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu". After the effect of "Phantom of Chaos"/etc resolves, it is destroyed.[15]
- When a face-down "Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu" is attacked and destroyed by battle, then it is not destroyed and sent to the Graveyard by its own effect after Damage Calculation. Instead, it is sent to the Graveyard at the end of the Damage Step.[16]
- While you control "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc and a Field Spell Card, if you activate a new Field Spell Card, then the old Field Spell Card must be destroyed. "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/etc is also destroyed at the same time that the old Field Spell Card is destroyed.[17]
- While you control "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc and a Field Spell Card, if your opponent activates a new Field Spell Card, then there is always an active Field Spell Card, so "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/etc is not destroyed.[17]
- The effect of "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/"Earthbound Immortal Aslla piscu"/etc prevents your opponent's monsters from selecting it as an attack target. Thus, when the only monster you control is "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu"/etc, your opponent can neither attack your monster nor attack directly. However, your opponent can still attack you directly with monsters like "Jinzo #7" which can attack directly.[18]
- If the effect of "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua" is negated by "Skill Drain", then you still cannot Normal Summon a second "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua". This is because the effect "There can only be 1 face-up "Earthbound Immortal" monster on the field" of the second "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua" is still applied while the second "Earthbound Immortal Chacu Challhua" is in the hand.[19]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" is face-up on the field, then you cannot Normal Summon another "Earthbound Immortal" monster from your hand. However, you can Set another "Earthbound Immortal" monster from your hand in face-down Defense Position. If you do, then you cannot Flip Summon that "Earthbound Immortal" monster.[20]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" is face-up on the field, then you cannot choose to Special Summon an "Earthbound Immortal" monster.[20]
- If "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" is face-up on the field and another "Earthbound Immortal" monster is face-down, then if the face-down monster is flipped face-up by an effect like "Swords of Revealing Light", then the "Earthbound Immortal" monster is destroyed after it is flipped face-up. Or, if multiple "Earthbound Immortal" monsters all simultaneously become face-up on the field, then the player selects one of the "Earthbound Immortal" monsters, and all the others are destroyed.[20]
- "Staunch Defender" can be activated by targeting "Earthbound Immortal Cusillu". In that case, all monsters your opponent controls must attack "Earthbound Immortal Cusillu" during this Battle Phase.[21]
TCG Rulings
Konami Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Konami before the introduction of Problem-Solving Card Text. Since the introduction of the new text structure, individual card rulings for the TCG are no longer issued or actively maintained.[24] They have never been formally overturned as a whole and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules and do not contradict card text. |
- If you control an Earthbound Immortal and no other monsters, your opponent cannot attack you, because they cannot select the Earthbound Immortal as an attack target. (Exception: they can attack with monsters that can attack directly, such as “Submarineroid.”)[22][23]
- If the only Earthbound Immortal on the field is an Equip Spell Card, it is not treated as a monster so you can Summon an Earthbound Immortal.[22][23]
If you replace your opponent’s Field Spell Card by activating one of your own[Out of Date 1], there is a face-up Field Spell Card continuously on the field, so any Earthbound Immortal on the field would not be destroyed. If you activate a new Field Spell Card, replacing your own Field Spell Card, there is a gap when no Field Spell Card is on the field, so any Earthbound Immortal would be destroyed.[22][23]
- If you Special Summon an Earthbound Immortal by chaining “Call of the Haunted” or “Revival of the Immortals” to the activation of a Field Spell Card, even though the Field Spell Card has not resolved when the Earthbound Immortal is Special Summoned as Chain Link 2, the Earthbound Immortal will remain on the field, undestroyed.[22][23]
Mentions in Other Rulings
- Battle Fader: You can activate the effect of "Battle Fader" when your opponent attacks directly with a monster like "Earthbound Immortal Ccapac Apu" even if you control monsters.
- Pixie Ring: If all monsters you control have the same ATK while “Pixie Ring” is active, your opponent cannot declare an attack (except with monsters that can attack directly such as Earthbound Immortals, “Jinzo #7” etc.)
