  • The effect "You can Special Summon this card from your hand in Defense Position" cannot be activated when a face-up monster in your Monster Zone is changed to face-down Defense Position by an effect activated as Chain 2 or higher.[1]
  • The effect "Once per turn: You can change this card to face-down Defense Position" is an Ignition Effect. (It does not target.)[1]
  • The effect "FLIP: You can target 1 Set monster your opponent controls; take control of it until your next End Phase" is a Trigger Effect that can optionally be activated when "Subterror Behemoth Voltelluric" itself is flipped face-up. (It targets 1 face-down Defense Position monster in your opponent's Monster Zone.)[1]

Q&A Rulings

  • Q: During my End Phase, if I activate "Desert Sunlight" and flip my "Subterror Behemoth Voltelluric" face-up, and then activate its effect that takes control of my opponent's Set monster, how long do I gain control of that monster?
A: The effect of "Subterror Behemoth Voltelluric" takes control of the targeted monster until your next End Phase. In this scenario, if the effect was activated during your End Phase, you gain control of the targeted monster until the End Phase of your following turn.[2]
A: In this scenario, even if a monster you took control of with the effect of "Subterror Behemoth Ultramafus" is flipped face-up and/or flipped face-down, the effect continues to be applied normally. Therefore, control of "Subterror Behemoth Ultramafus" still returns to your opponent during your next End Phase.[3]
