Card Tips:Koa'ki Meiru Drago
- This card can be searched by "Diamond Core of Koa'ki Meiru", "Koa'ki Meiru Urnight", "Koa'ki Meiru Supplier", "Hieratic Seal of the Heavenly Spheres", "Tempest, Dragon Ruler of Storms", "Koa'ki Meiru Boulder", "Iron Core Specimen Lab", "Hieratic Dragon King of Atum", "Dragunity Knight - Gae Dearg", "Starliege Seyfert", "Bystial Magnamhut", "Armed Dragon, the Armored Dragon", "Draconnection", "Ninjitsu Art of Super-Transformation", "Dragonic Guard", "Divine Wind of Mist Valley", "Crystal Clear Wing Synchro Dragon", "Kujakujaku", "Summoner Monk", "Primathmech Alembertian", "Battle Royal Mode - Joining", "Vampire Dragon", "Resonator Engine", "Soul Rope", "Rescue Ferret", and other generic searchers.
- "Divine Dragon Apocralyph" can help return "Koa'ki Meiru Drago" to your hand. Also, it can be revealed in your hand to preserve "Drago".
- This card is outstanding in Dragon-based Decks (especially "Disaster Dragon" and its variants), as you can prevent the Special Summon of many popular LIGHT and DARK monsters such as "High Priestess of Prophecy", "Evilswarm Ophion", "Grapha, Dragon Lord of Dark World", "Number 16: Shock Master" and "Number 11: Big Eye" but keep in mind that it can block "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" as well.
- However, "Disaster Dragon" Deck rarely having LIGHT or DARK Dragon-Type monster other than "Darkness Metal Dragon" anyway, so it is always better to keep this card on the field, even if it just as a beatstick.
- With the "Chaos Dragon" and "Hieratic" Decks rising in popularity, this card can be very useful against them, since this card can block "Red-Eyes"/"Lightpulsar" combo, as well as preventing Special Summon of their other Chaos-based monster such as "Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginning" and "Chaos Sorcerer".
- If possible, protect this card with "Queen Dragun Djinn" (make sure you Summon it first), so that even "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" and "Card Trooper" cannot destroy it.
- If you utilizing a "Dragon-Koa'ki Meiru" hybrid Deck, you can choose to Summon "Koa'ki Meiru Maximus" instead (although its maintenance is rather troublesome at times).
- "Maximus" can also used in conjunction with, OR replacement for "Scrap Dragon", as their effects similar, and you can easily revive them both with "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon", while "Drago" can fulfill "Maximus'" maintenance cost or provide target for the effects of "Scrap Dragon".
- If you search out "Blue-Eyes White Dragon" with the effect of"The White Stone of Legend", you can use that same "Blue-Eyes" as the card you reveal to your opponent for this cards effect since your opponent already knows you have it in your hand.
- If you already have Light and Dark monsters on your field, control a "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon", and have nothing better to play with its effect, you can Special Summon "Drago" without worrying about it affecting your ability to Special Summon too much. You still need to keep Dragons in your hand for this card's maintenance, though.
- It's best to summon this card when you're ready to finish your opponent off, to block any "Gorz the Emissary of Darkness", "Tragoedia" and "Battle Fader" from ruining your game-finishing move.
- If this card is on your field but you want to get rid of it, you can Tribute it for the effect of "Tyrant Dragon" when its played from the Graveyard. In addition, "Tyrant Dragon" makes an easy replacement for other Light and Dark Attribute Dragons while this card is on the field.
- You can banish this card with "Interdimensional Matter Transporter" during your turn so that you can Summon all the LIGHTs and DARKs you want, then it will return in your End Phase and your opponent will be unable to play their LIGHTs and DARKs (just be aware that you will still need a monster to reveal/an "Iron Core" to discard).
- "Wind-Up Zenmaister" can also be used in this situation.
- In an "Armed Dragon" Deck, (or any deck that has Nomi-Dragons), you can use a dead draw to your advantage while you have this card on the field. For example, if you draw "Armed Dragon LV7" early in the game, then you can simply reveal this card every time as it serves no purpose until you are able to Special Summon it.
- With "Alector, Sovereign of Birds" on your side of the field you can Special Summon LIGHT and DARK monsters during your turn.
- Keep in mind that this card can potentially stop most Level 5 or lower Synchro Monster combo plays, since it blocks "Formula Synchron", "Armory Arm", "Ally of Justice Catastor", "Magical Android" and "T.G. Hyper Librarian".
- With this in mind, it also useful for preventing the appearance of "T.G. Blade Blaster" or "T.G. Halberd Cannon" (assuming that the Deck does not use "Life Stream Dragon").
- If you have this card and "Future Fusion" in your hand, make sure you activate "Future Fusion" first before Summoning this card, since "Five-Headed Dragon" is a DARK monster.
