  • "Thunderclap Monk" can Special Summon this card from your hand after it tributes itself for its effect.
  • "Give and Take" can Special Summon this card from your Graveyard to your opponent's side of the field during their turn, regardless of whether their Link Monsters point to your field. Though Voltester's presence in your GY will likely make this predictable, that in turn can be a useful bluff. Since this card also has very low DEF, it is quite easy to remove from the field if it remains on their side in Defense Position as well.
  • You can use easily-Summoned Link 2s with upward pointing arrows, such as "Reprodocus" or "Pentestag", to destroy monsters on your opponent's field even if none of their monsters point to your field. Unfortunately, because "Voltester" is a "then" card, you cannot take advantage of the destruction protection of cards like "Doublebyte Dragon" or "Steelswarm Origin" as they will prevent the effect from continuing onwards. You can, however, use the effect of "Unchained Soul of Rage" that triggers when it is destroyed.
  • Because this card's effect is only good under special circumstances, it is probably best used as a side deck choice in a Thunder deck like "Thunder Dragons". This gives it additional value after activating its effect just by virtue of being a Thunder Effect monster that can be banished to summon "Thunder Dragon Titan" or "Thunder Dragonlord". "Thunder Dragon" decks have several options for Thunder searchers, so including a single copy in the side deck is more usable as a "silver bullet" strategy than in many other decks.
  • Although this card's effect does not work when Tribute Summoned, it can still be used in "Monarch" Deck because it is a Monster with 1000 DEF and more than 2400 ATK. In addition to the previously mentioned ability to Special Summon it with "Ehther the Heavenly Monarch", it enables the use of "Frost Blast of the Monarchs" and is a legal target for "Dark Advance",
