Forum:Ruling Questions

We have several questions that we come across on our past duels.

1. On Mist Valley Falcon, can I activate his affect during main phase to be able to attack during battle phase or only when I declare an attack?

2. Dark Smog vs Spellbook of Fate. If my opponent's Spellbook of Fate targets my set Dark Smog and I chain Dark Smog to the Spellbook. Does Dark Smog go back to my hand or it resolve normally?

3. My opponent summons Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En and I chained with Torrential Tribute to the summon. Can my opponent can activate Shi En's effect to negate Torrential Tribute?

4. Forbidden Lance vs Dragunity Legionnaire. My opponent summons Dragunity Legionnarie and targets Dragunity Aklys from his grave and I chained with Forbidden Lance to target Dragunity Legionnaire. So what happens to Dragunity Aklys? 206.209.102.63 (talk) 23:15, January 24, 2013 (UTC)

1) It's a Continuous Effect. This means that when you declare an attack with "Mist Valley Falcon", you must Tribute 1 monster (other than itself).
2) "Spellbook of Fate" doesn't target, as the player chooses which Set card to return when it resolves. If you Chain "Dark Smog" to "Spellbook of Fate" after your opponent banished the card(s) for the cost, your opponent will not be able to return it to the hand (obviously).
3) You cannot "Chain" to a Summon, you can only "respond" to a Summon. In any case, your opponent will be able to Chain the negation effect of "Legendary Six Samurai - Shi En" since it is a Quick Effect.
4) As derived from the ruling for "Inzektor Hornet", your opponent will still able to equip "Dragunity Aklys" to their monster. If the "Dragunity" monster equipped to that monster had an effect that would affect the equipped monster however, the equipped monster would be unaffected. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 23:52, January 24, 2013 (UTC)
You don't Tribute monsters for Falcon, though; you're thinking of Panther Warrior. MadRest 12:33, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Like Senior D said, "Mist Valley Falcon" bounced the monster to activating his attack pattern, not tribute. --iFredCat 13:44, January 25, 2013 (UTC)
Hahaha, yes I was thinking of "Panther Warrior" at the time. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 14:14, January 25, 2013 (UTC)

when is next turn the next turn

there has been a lot of debate on the last line of shock master were i play at. (untill the end of your opponants next turn) the word next is vaig in its discription . is it refering to the following turn after i activate the effect or is it refering to both me and my opponant miss a turn if activated on my turn? ex ..i activate shock master and say spellcards, now i end my turn can my opponant now use spell cards not already active on the field at this time? or must he wait untill the beiginning of his following turn to play spell cards?68.201.43.240 (talk) 16:26, January 26, 2013 (UTC)

Until the end of your opponent's turn. Shock Master can only be activated during your turn, so its effect stops applying when your opponent ends his turn, not you. In other words, he must go through a turn without using Spell Cards. MadRest 16:43, January 26, 2013 (UTC)
