Deletion of Category:Miscellaneous redirects and Template:Unsorted r[edit]

Why did you delete Category:Miscellaneous Redirects and Template:Unsorted r? I'm not necessarily contesting the deletions, but a heads-up or a good reason would have been nice... --Dinoguy1000 What?I did it! 18:57, 13 November 2007 (UTC)

Was there any use for it? Was it being used? -- Huajun Chen 20:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC) Copied from User talk:Dinoguy1000#Deletion
--Dinoguy1000 What?I did it! 17:14, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
Well, they weren't being used ATM, but they were based off of Wikipedia's own redirect sorting system (unless I'm sadly mistaken, of which there's actually a pretty good chance). In any case, why not just put {{delete}} on them first, instead of just deleting them? --Dinoguy1000 What?I did it! 17:14, 14 November 2007 (UTC)
It's what I do, lulz. -- Huajun Chen 22:08, 14 November 2007 (UTC)Copied from User talk:Dinoguy1000#Deletion (again) (please, read my talk page policy next time...)

Meh, whateverz... At least, give me a heads up next time, though... --Dinoguy1000 What?I did it! 18:19, 15 November 2007 (UTC)
We'll see. Also: there's no need to copy-and-paste what I wrote on your User Talk back onto my talk page. If you want to, sure go ahead, but it's not required or anything. -- Huajun Chen 01:28, 16 November 2007 (UTC) Copied from User talk:Dinoguy1000#Deletion

I'm aware that there's no need or requirement to; however, I prefer for the entire discussion to be saved uninterrupted in at least one location, to make it easier to reference it for whatever reason in the future should that need arise. --Dinoguy1000 What?I did it! 17:28, 16 November 2007 (UTC)

Unneeded OCG rulings[edit]

Can we drop these OCG rulings since the English text seems to clarify them?:

You're gonna say no because you'll think it's stupid, but can I put my made up cards as articles on this? I'm curious just because they're there and they're not doing much, sitting around in my folders like they're of no use. So, give an answer ASAP please. It would be nice to show my cards to other people. ¬_¬ Please say yes! Sean da king 13:52, 18 November 2007

4KIDS DUB NAMES[edit]

Why do we use the 4kids dub names of the characters? Don't you know 4kids ruined Yu-Gi-Oh and they are ruining Yu-Gi-Oh GX, so vengefully WE should not acknowledge 4kids. I know you might not care but information about Sailor Moon uses the Japanese names for the protagonists and the antagonists and they don't acknowledge DiC the company that ruined Sailor Moon and the Sailor Moon Wikia does not acknowledge DiC. So may you please stop giving 4kids credit. Thanks

99% and Teardrop[edit]

Can we merge the two 99% with 99% (2nd) and similarly for the two Teardrop pages? All that's seperating them is different videos right? -- Deltaneos 11:25, 23 November 2007 (UTC)

right, ok. and if the card does not exist in the real game, we add a "2" after the "navigation" in the template, right? AnnaV 22:51, 5 December 2007 (UTC)

Untitled.jpg[edit]

Sorry for messing this up on you -- I was working on stuff in the imagelist and wondered what "Untitled.jpg" was. So, I clicked on the link to see, and then when I went to look at what the different versions were, I accidentally hit "rev" instead of the date. I think I've got it back to where it was now -- but again, my apologies!

Burstinatrix[edit]

By my edit about "-inatrix", I meant that it is more likely that Konami translated the name as "Burstinator" since it sounds more "heroic" (much like Wildheart and Bladedge), and then applied the "-atrix" ending since that would be the proper feminine form.

I'm sure we can agree that it is more likely that Konami's translations follow proper grammar than it is for Konami to purposefully include a reference to dominatrices. --Deus Ex Machina 19:02, 18 December 2007 (UTC)

Shadow of Eyes[edit]

  • "Shadow of Eyes" is only female-related in the anime (where it didn't work on female monsters). There is no trace of that element in the card itself. Danny Lilithborne 09:08, 23 December 2007 (UTC)

Injection Fairy Lily vs. Negate Attack[edit]

You can only use "Injection Fairy Lily's" effect during the Damage Step. If you attack with Lily and your opponent plays "Negate Attack", the attack is cancelled before the Damage Step occurs, so the player doesn't get the chance to choose if they want to use her effect or not. So in short no Life Points are paid. -- 13:51, 24 December 2007 (UTC)

Regarding naming and the manga[edit]

Are you aware of the fact that in the English-language manga, the characters generally use Japanese names?

If so, why are you using the 4Kids names in relation to the manga chapters? WhisperToMe 23:41, 21 February 2008 (UTC)

The reply does not address the concern about the official English-language manga. If you are in a bookstore in North America, you will find Yu-Gi-Oh! graphic novels. Notice the names VIZ uses. Why talk about the manga in English with 4Kids names when the manga released in English uses Japanese names? On the other hand, ALL versions of the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX series, manga and anime, use 4Kids names.

Now, if this was a Portuguese website, I would use 4Kids names for everything (the Brazilian Portuguese release of Yu-Gi-Oh! manga uses 4Kids names for the characters) WhisperToMe 02:43, 23 February 2008 (UTC)

I run a deck that revolves around the Black Ptera OTK, and it is very successful (more so than an Exodia Deck). I used the proper format, grammar, and emphasized my points on the deck. I don't see how it is NOT a real OTK if it is one, and can be pulled off as easily as most other OTKs in the advanced format.

Re: Hey Hey You You[edit]

Hello there. Great to see you around again. I think it's been about 2 years. Yeah, a long time. How's life been?

I can't think of much repetitive tasks, unless you're able to get images of or Decklists for Tag Force original characters? That would be a meaningful repetitiveish task. If you need a meaningless one, there's copying and pasting "X uses this card in whatever video game" into Card Appearances pages (Anime and Manga Appearances got changed to Card Appearances).

If you ever decide to come back to irc, the channel is now at #wikia-yugioh -- Deltaneos (talk) 16:31, January 16, 2010 (UTC)

Yeah, quite a lot of people hang out in the IRC channel nowadays. More people actually visit the duels channel than the main one. Familiar people who still go there are Rod, Trygon, Dantman and me and sometimes Danny Lilithborne. TwoTailedFox has been away for like a year now. Adminny things[edit]

Hello again, Huajun Chen! I never realized you were a girl before... huh, the more you know. =) Anyways, I just saw the bit you've written on your userpage about you presiding over double redirects, card appearances, and deleting articles, and I figured it would, then, only be polite that I let you know I've been doing some work on double redirects since becoming an administrator myself (well, I was doing some before, but picked up the pace quite a bit after getting my bit), although most of it has been focusing on cleaning up the fallout left from the creation of the "Set Card ..." namespaces. Female card list[edit]

I've known for a while now that you've had List of female cards declared as your domain for some time, so I've been somewhat concerned that you might be at least a bit miffed at how I kinda stepped in and started doing a lot of work on it (from renaming it all the way to helping make the whole thing automated via SMW) without actually seeing you comment on any of the changes. I suppose it is rather a bit late to ask now, but I'd still be interested in hearing if you have any thoughts on the changes I've instigated on it. =) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 01:47, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

I AM SUPPOSED TO REPLY HERE, RIGHT? Last time I checked, you were supposed to reply on the other guy's page, not on your own page... but things have changed a lot since I was really active. *cough*fouryearsago*cough* Anyway... am I miffed that you ripped apart the bare infrastructure of the whole page and did some funky mumbo-jumbo automatic script thing to it? No, I'm not mad. I readily acknowledge the fact that you have loads more experience with semantic data than I do and that it also cuts down a lot of the manual workload. Am I HAPPY about it? Nooooo... I still can't figure out the workings of certain categories such as why TCG cards are in the anime/manga card section. But am I angry? Not at all. Feel free to do whatever you wish with the page just as long as it doesn't include deletion.
... internet people don't believe I'm a girl sometimes. They can't wrap their heads around the idea of a GIRL in YGO who also may be kinda ATTRACTIVE. I swear, you don't know how many guys think I'm some kind of fugly glass-wearing girl-nerd or something. O_o; Huajun Chen (talkcontribs) 03:00, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
That's just Dinoguy's thing. He prefers to keep the conversation on one talk page and has managed to "convert" several other users into practicing it as well. It has the side effect of others jumping into the conversation as well. Like right now, for instance. Delt's talk page may as well be an extension of the forum at this point. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:08, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
... goddammit, Dinosaurman. Huajun Chen (talkcontribs) 03:14, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
LOL, either place would be fine. It's actually worse than just changing over the years; there is no wiki-wide policy (as Cheesedude said, it started with me, and I've managed to convince several other users to practice my way of thinking =D ), so many people still expect replies on their own talk page. If you're more comfortable replying on my talk page, feel free to, just don't complain that I copy your replies back here before posting my own replies. ;)
That would be a combination of poor design choices on the part of the authors of SMW, and inconsistent application of the various properties in {{CardTable2}} (and this is in turn because no one has ever taken the time to sit down and work out a proper guideline for what properties should be assigned when). I am aware of the particular problem of OCG/TCG cards appearing in the anime/manga/VG-only section as well, but fixing it will first require cleaning up the whole "Class X" property system... It's definitely something I'm planning on doing one of these days. =)
To be sure, I have no intentions whatsoever of pursuing deletion for the page; I don't think anyone here wants to do that any more.
Some people are just closed-minded, I suppose. One of the people I worked most closely with on Wikipedia was a female; we've both retired but still occasionally chat, mostly on Facebook. I also don't see the problem some guys have with girls with glasses; I personally think glasses on a girl are cute (on the other hand, I can't really rule out that I'm the weird one =D ). At any rate, while I certainly find the fact that a given editor is female to be interesting, I don't let it color my interactions with them - I value editors far more for their personality and the value of their contributions than I do for their real-life or declared gender. ;) ダイノガイ千?!? · ☎ Dinoguy1000 03:16, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

Heh, I think that's the first time I've been called a sweetheart on the internet. Monster Reborn[edit]

File:MonsterReborn-JP-Anime-DM.png and File:MonsterReborn-JP-Anime-GX.png appear to be the same image. Unless the GX image is from a flashback to DM sequence. If not, which series is this image from? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:19, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

Nevermind. However, if you wish to remember what episode images are from for future uploads, add fair use rationale when you upload. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:24, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
... yo, man. Have you seen how many pictures I upload in a day? (When I actually decide to exist on this website, that is.) There is no way in hell I'm tagging every last one of those images, TBH. Sorry, but, I don't love YGO THAT much. Huajun Chen (talkcontribs) 02:52, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
It's really not that difficult to copy and paste a template into each one and change the card name and episode number. I can't imagine it would eat up that much more time, to be honest. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:54, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
I'm just gonna be a bitch here: I really don't want to do it. ._. There's also the fact I'm just re-uploading a lot of images from 4 years ago and it's not like the previous uploaders actually put the episode name on the files. I'll keep in mind what you said for the future if I happen to upload any new images. Huajun Chen (talkcontribs) 03:04, August 30, 2011 (UTC)
Fair enough, XD. Thanks for keeping it in mind. It's an issue for me because I do occasionally go through anime card images and attempt to add rationale if I can figure out the episode number. Having said that, I'd certainly rather have the images without the rationale than not there at all. Carry on. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 03:06, August 30, 2011 (UTC)

I didn't upload that one, it was someone else. He/she change my version of Monster Reborn, so I copy his/her image and change it to .png. Re:This shit[edit]

BLS is from GX episode 19 from Misawa's explanation of how it's summoned. Given that CED also appeared there, I'm fairly sure that's also from GX. It could be from DM, but I doubt it. "Magic Cylinder" has to be from GX. It had only one "in-Duel" appearance in DM despite how many times it actually appeared. That doesn't look like Yami Yugi's hand. The pic with the stars is the anime version of "Level Down!?". Its anime effect was essentially a LV version of "Cost Down". That's from GX episode 70. Giant orange thing is "Amphibian Angel - Frog-Hael", from GX episode 74. Bakura's token is either a "Doppelganger Token" or a "Necro Wall Token". I highly doubt it's the latter simply due to the name. From what I remember, the dub of DM usually blurred the X on "Premature Burial" to cover the face. So I think that's a GX image too. For other three images, I'm not sure. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 19:30, September 3, 2011 (UTC)

Non-card images[edit]

Last I checked, non-card images (direct images of monsters) (-NC) could be added to the galleries next to the card images, and should be kept. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 03:56, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

Funny that you mention that because I was just about to go back and undelete a handful of non-card images. I generally delete non-card images that already have... well, card images, unless there is a major edit in the dubbed version or the card image itself is just too blurry to even get a good estimate of what the artwork is supposed to be in the first place. Huajun Chen (talkcontribs) 03:59, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
Ok. I was just checking since a few interesting ones (e.g. File:MorphingJar-JP-Anime-DM-NC.png didn't know he could do that) seemed to be deleted as well. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 04:03, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

If you don't mind, that would be nice.
Just to clarify something I didn't really mention above; I'm not sure if we intend to keep NC images that do not show anything more than the card version; but NC images that do show addition stuff that isn't seen on the card would be worth keeping. -Falzar FZ- (talk page|useful stuff) 13:26, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
... goddammit, well, I'm not going to undo all the changes I did yesterday. But I'll keep that in mind for future pictures. Huajun Chen (talkcontribs) 15:16, September 7, 2011 (UTC)
I don't see why we wouldn't keep them. Even if we didn't use them in card galleries, they would make decent images to use in the summary section of episode articles. Personally, I think they're fine in the card galleries too, but whatever. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 15:21, September 7, 2011 (UTC)

Because such changes are accompanied by a huge amount of work (renaming thousands of files, and updating thousands of pages), we want to make as few of them as possible. Therefore, your input is requested on the proposed change, as well as any comments on other possible changes you have in mind. If you have any questions about the image policy, now is also a good time to ask. Thanks!

Updates[edit]

Hey, welcome back. A few things about your recent edits. Please don't add support categories for something just because it is mentioned in the card text. A card that turns other monsters into DARK monsters does not support DARK monsters. In addition, we'd prefer not to list out every other Type and Attribute when a card specifies "non-X" monster. With Types it gets very lengthy, to the point that CardTable isn't even able to display them all without alteration. If we begin doing this and apply it to other things like ATK values, imagine what would happen for a card that specifies "monsters with less than 2500 ATK". I'd like to direct your attention to what I posted above. I would appreciate a response if you're going to continue to make edits like this. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 01:29, February 22, 2014 (UTC)
The overarching thing here is that "mentioned in card text" does not always equal support. A card that turns another monster into an EARTH monster isn't EARTH support. A card that increases the ATK of EARTH monsters is. A card that changes the Attribute of an EARTH mosnter to something else (and is worded that way in the card text) is support. I'll admit that putting an exact definition on it is rather difficult, given that anything that can be listed as support can technically also be antisupport under the right circumstances.
Card search categories have always been messy. I guess the best way I could put it is to use your better judgment, and please do not revert if it gets reverted. Thanks, Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:16, February 22, 2014 (UTC)
Yeah. I've been removing stuff like the "Ivy Shackle" example as I go along. And you could consider it support due to interaction with other cards, but then there is no where to draw the line and any card could technically be support for something if the situation is right. Anyway, thanks. Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:33, February 22, 2014 (UTC)
That's true, but if you look hard enough, you can find a case like that for nearly every ambiguous uses of support. I don't think we should make the call based on "is this actually something a player would do" either. The Tips and archetype/series pages should outline that sort of thing enough.
The "Mystical Elf" page looks fine to me. What was wrong? Cheesedude (talkcontribs) 02:51, February 22, 2014 (UTC)

Quattro in ZEXAL[edit]

What do you mean? User:Cheesedude would be offended =o --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:37, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

Ohhhhh, I thought you were presenting "Quattro" as an example of why ZEXAL was dumb. Cheesedude's a fan of IV too. --UltimateKuriboh (talkcontribs) 02:46, March 26, 2014 (UTC)

Re: aporia's lover[edit]

Oh, cool, she has a name. Well, if it's okay with Maruyama, himself, I can't say I disagree. No objections to the rename. -- Deltaneos (talk) 23:07, March 31, 2014 (UTC)
