Forum:Gadget Machin...a?

I have NO idea why they changed the name of Machiners to Machina... do you think they were worried about it being sexually suggestive? This new version sounds more like a doll (kachina) than anything resembling industrial awesomeness... Anyways, I think I should stop ranting and start telling you about the deck. It's a fusion of Gadgets and Machin...a... to get massive card advantage!

OK, the lineup is as follows. The Gadget part of the deck consists of 2 of each Gadget. After that comes the 6 Machinea monsters I used. There's 3 Machina Gearframe because it's got the ATK and effect of E-Hero Stratos, and searches the same way Gadgets do. Also, its effect can protect my machines. Peacekeeper's effect is somewhat the reverse; it searches a Union monster when destroyed while face-up. Note that while this does not work if Peacekeeper is set, it does work if it destroys itself while equipped to save the equipped monster, or if it gets destroyed via MST, or if the equipped monster is flipped face-down or returned to the hand, etc etc... or at least I'm pretty sure it does. Finally, there's the new structure deck's cover card, Machina Fortress. (Again, much more intimidating as a Machiner.) It has a variety of cool effects - graveyard revival with a discard, and various tricks to get rid of your opponent's field and hand. With Gadgets and Machiners alike filling the hand, it should be relatively easy to use.

Next up is the powerful Scrap Recycler. Its first effect can mill Machiners Fortress for later use, but the other one is also a lot of fun. I can shuffle back 2 level 4 EARTH Machines from my graveyard to draw a card, which is great. I can use it to recycle Gadgets and Gearframes. Giant Rat searches a variety of monsters, including every Gadget, Peacekeeper, Scrap Recycler... and also Oilmen. Oilmen is a nice source of draw power and protection for my Machines, and can be searched by Gearframe. Next, Koa'ki Meiru Powerhand is in because of its amazing synergy and high ATK. It's a level 4 EARTH Machine, so it works with Scrap Recycler, the Unions, and other cards in the deck - its effect can also disarm lots of monsters, like Tragoedia, Fortune Lady Dark, Ryko, Lightsworn Hunter, and others. Finally, Shretsudder is like a Machine version of the Armed Dragon series. I can discard Machina Fortress to destroy a Blackwing Armor Master, and Fortress will be more usable later... I can also discard a level 4 Machine to destroy my opponent's level 4 monster.

For spells, Shrink is of course first. The Gadget staple is even better here because the deck has more and weaker monsters than Gadgets even usually have - for instance, Scrap Recycler. Frontline Base allows for quick unions, and thanks to the variety of +1s in the deck I should be able to use it without losing card advantage. Book of Moon is another way to protect my monsters. Heavy Storm and Mystical Space Typhoon are mandatory staples in a deck like this. Machina Frontline is an amazing card for maintaining the all-important card advantage, as I can use it to summon a Gadget and search another. Its effect also works when monsters are destroyed by card effects. Finally, there's the powerful Machine Developer, which boosts attack power and allows for graveyard recursion.

For traps, there's another Gadget staple - Dimensional Prison, which coincidentally is also coming out in the new structure. Bottomless is all-important in Gadgets but even better in this meld. Torrential Tribute is a good card already, but it works particularly well with Machina Peacekeeper, Machina Frontline, and Machine Developer. Last of all, Solemn Judgment and Dark Bribe are included to protect my continuous spells.

Tell me what you think of this concept deck. Runer5h 23:35, November 19, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

I like it. I do think you went a little overboard on the monster protection though. Maybe drop a single Shrink or Dimensional Prison? Oh, and if you ever want another Union to search, how about one of the first Unions ever made, Heavy Mech Support Platform?--Black Rose 00:17, November 20, 2009 (UTC)
I considered HMSP, but it got scrapped in favor of Oilmen. Being DARK, Mech Support Platform doesn't have the same synergy with the deck that Oilmen does, so I'm not going to use it. As for less protection, I don't think I can afford to lose them with the even larger amount of weak monsters than one usually finds in Gadgets. Runer5h 01:14, November 20, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Even if your monsters start out weak, maybe you could fit in a Limiter Removal for that unexpected OTK?--Black Rose 01:31, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Hmm... I think I'd rather side-deck that. Speaking of which, here's my ideas for a side-deck thus far.

Any other ideas? Runer5h 03:07, November 20, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

Spiritual Earth Art - Kurogane could help a little. (I'm liking your deck so far)--Helix-king 11:59, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

What about Roll Out!?--Black Rose 12:43, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

Its perfect, but I would like you to main deck Limiter Removal instead of side decking it. Play 2 Shrinks instead? Flushy 13:57, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

machina

is bulgarian for machine--Sartorias 13:58, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

With all due respect to Bulgarians, I doubt that they renamed the Machiners archetype for that. I guess I will main-deck Limiter Removal, but I'm not so sure about Roll Out and Kurogane. Runer5h 20:34, November 20, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

What about Pot of Avarice? It helps recycle, which is what Gadgets love to do.--Black Rose 22:45, November 20, 2009 (UTC)

I had it in an earlier version, but I removed it for Machine Developer. Developer can also recycle cards. Runer5h 02:29, November 21, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h

EDITS: Removed Frontline Base and a copy of Shrink for 2 Phoenix Wing Wind Blast and a Tragoedia. This comes after getting owned by a Fortune Lady/Lightsworn/Secret Village deck. (It was a very fun duel, but he won.) Runer5h 05:25, November 21, 2009 (UTC)Runer5h
