VRAINS Episode 45 section: Few more bits.
"Transcode Talker" reappears on Varis's field in a burst of lightning, and Varis states that since it is on his field now, "Excode Talker" loses the 500 ATK that it gained, falling back to 2300 ATK. Then the effect of "Transcode Talker" re-activates since it is now co-linked with "Topologic Bomber Dragon", increasing their ATK by 500, to 2800 and 3500 respectively. Varis orders "Topologic Bomber Dragon" to attack "Excode Talker" with "Malicious Mayhem", and "Topologic Bomber" blasts its magenta beam at "Excode Talker", destroying it and reducing Playmaker to 1800 LP. Since "Excode Talker" left the field, its effect ends and "Powercode Talker" loses another 500 ATK, falling to 1800. Next, "Transcode Talker" attacks "Powercode Talker", destroying it with one swift blast from its cannon, sending Playmaker skidding backwards with a cry as his LP falls to 800. He falls to one knee, and Kolter cries Yusaku's name. Pigeon cries Playmaker's name, and Frog admits that Varis is strong. As Playmaker gets to his feet, Ai can't believe that all of their monsters were destroyed. Varis calls Playmaker's name, telling him that there's no new path left for them; they are prisoners of destiny, chained by the past of a decade ago. Therefore, he will server everything now.

Ai comments that it's a bold statement, and Varis activates the effect of "Miniborrel Dragon" from his Graveyard since he controls a "Borrel" Link Monster, Tributing a Link-3 monster to Special Summon it. He Tributes "Transcode Talker" and "Miniborrel" appears alongside "Borreload". Since "Transcode Talker" left the field, its effect ends and the ATK of "Topologic Bomber Dragon" returns to its original 3000. Then Varis activates the effect of the Continuous Trap Card, "Link Turret" since it is now his Main Phase 2; by removing a Rokket Counter from "Link Turret", he can Special Summon a "Rokket" monster from his Graveyard in Defense Position with its effects negated. Ai notes that Varis has five Rokket Counters, and asks if this means he'll be able to Special Summon five "Rokkets", and Playmaker confirms that he will. Ai then taunts Varis over his claim of an extreme Duel, but he's only preparing for the next turn.
Playmaker weakly replies that he knows, but he collapses to the ground in a hunch, and Ai asks desperately if he's okay. Playmaker struggles to reply that's he's fine; nothing's wrong, but then he falls again in a heap. Ai screams his name, and Kolter whispers Yusaku's name, noting that this is the power of the Extra Link. Ai begs Playmaker not to lose now, protesting that he doesn't want to vanish. He has a homeworld and friends, he doesn't want all of that to be gone. "Friends?" Playmaker asks. Ai states that they're all waiting for him to come back home, and Playmaker asks him what kind of place the Cyberse is. Ai happily states that it's a good place - it's their paradise. He remembers a hexagonal land divided into six different sections around a central hub in the center with a golden tower. Each zone - an ocean, a jagged mountain range, a forest, a volcano, a city of golden buildings, and a dark pit - had a small tower and town at the edge of the hub and was created by a single Ignis. A stream of Data material connected the towers, and Ai states that the Ignis created the world, and lots of Cyberse monsters too. They divided up their responsibilities and lived as they liked. Ai remembers lazing on the back of "Linkuriboh" and admits that he was lazy and didn't work much, so they thought he was a nuisance. He remembers being approached by the blue Ignis, and hopping away from her on "Linkuriboh", much to her exasperation. He states that they aren't thinking of doing bad things to humans like Varis has suggested; they just want to live there quietly. Ai admits that he did use Playmaker, but only because he wanted to return home, because he wanted to return to his friends. He begs Playmaker to stand up, and in Café Nom, Kolter begs Yusaku to stand up as well. Ai states that Playmaker also has friends to protect, and Playmaker looks up at Varis, whose figure is hazy behind the gel of "Drop Frame Wedge". He comments that it must be nice. As data begins to finish solidifying into the Tower of Hanoi's sixth ring, Playmaker states that he also has things he wants to do, and he struggles to his feet. Ai cheers his name happily, and Kolter sighs in relief, congratulating Yusaku on standing up.
Varis scoffs that Playmaker is stubborn, noting that his LP is already like a candle in the wind and his hand is at zero. Now that the Extra Link has been completed, there's nothing that Playmaker can do. Ai asks what Varis is talking about; due to the effect of "Drop Frame Wedge", they both can't attack, so Varis can't do anything either. Varis reminds them that he still has "Topologic Gumblar Dragon", so if they keep a card in their hand, then 3000 damage that they can't negate will be coming their way. Ai slumps as he remembers the effect, and he slinks back into Playmaker's Duel Disk, telling him that this is the situation. Playmaker replies that he knows, and he declares his turn and draws, then Sets a card and ends his turn. With the end of one of his turns, the top layer over the gel of "Drop Frame Wedge" evaporates, and Ai notes that the effect of "Drop Frame Wedge" will end after Playmaker's next turn, so they have to think of a plan before then.  Playmaker agrees, and then Varis declares his turn and draws. He Summons "Autorokket Dragon", which increases to 1900 ATK due to "Boot Sector Launch", and Ai yelps that Varis has Summoned a seventh monster. Then Varis activates the effect of "Borreload Dragon"; "Anti-Enemy Rokket", which lowers the ATK and DEF of a monster by 500. "Autorokket Dragon" falls to 1400 ATK and then Varis activates its effect since it was targeted by the effect of a Link Monster, destroying it and then sending one Spell or Trap Card on the field to the Graveyard. "Autorokket" transforms into an orange ball, and the ball enters one of the cylinders on "Borreload Dragon", which locks into place and then the cannon in the mouth of "Borreload Dragon" glows orange and it fires the blast at Playmaker's Set card, sending it to the Graveyard. Ai laments that Varis won't let them do anything, and Varis warns them that he told them he'd seal away all their moves. He Sets a card and ends his turn, and the effect of "Autorokket Dragon" activates since it was destroyed and sent to the Graveyard, Special Summoning a different "Rokket" monster from his Deck. He Special Summons "Anesthrokket Dragon" in Defense Position, and its DEF increases to 2500 due to the effect of "Boost Sector Launch". Playmaker pants heavily, and Ai laments that their situation has just gotten worse. Playmaker tells him not to complain with a smile, since it's a miracle they're still standing. Ai yelps that they'll lose at this rate, and Playmaker agrees; they have to do something. Ai turns in shock to see Playmaker's smile, and he hesitantly states that Playmaker is laughing. Playmaker grins, stating that there's nothing to do but laugh in this situation, but that doesn't mean he's given up. Pigeon wonders if Playmaker really thinks he can turn this around, but then Frog gets excited and rocks side-to-side, much to Pigeon's terror, crying out that if Playmaker's going to fight, then he isn't going to go home. He won't go home, he doesn't want to go home, and he tells Pigeon that they'll watch him to the end. Pigeon enthusiastically agrees. Playmaker staggers as he declares his turn and draws, and Ai laments that it's unfair that they'll be taking 3000 damage if they keep a card in their hand. Playmaker reassures him that his field is empty, so he can keep playing cards as long as he doesn't draw a high-Level monster. Ai admits that's true, but still seems doubtful. Playmaker activates the Spell Card "Arrow Charge", since there are two monsters in the Extra Monster Zones with the same Link Rating, he can draw two cards and reveal them. Ai emerges from his Duel Disk, praying that they draw good cards. Playmaker smiles, and he comments that he thought A.I.s didn't pray. Ai replies that he'll pray this time as he bows down in prayer, and whispers "C'mon!" repeatedly as Playmaker draws his two cards. He's drawn "Disconnect Linker" and "Transaction Rollback", and he immediately activates "Disconnect Linker", Special Summoning a Link-2 or lower Link Monster from his Graveyard with its effects negated, and then using it to Link Summon. He revives "Restoration Point Guard" and then chants "Appear! The circuit that leads to the future!" He states that the Summoning condition is one Cyberse Link Monster, and he sets "Restoration Point Guard" in the Link Arrow to Link Summon the Link-1 "Secure Gardna". He reveals that due to the effect of "Disconnect Linker", it will be unaffected by Varis's card effects, and as "Secure Gardna's" armor plates arrange themselves into a cross-shaped shield that projects an energy barrier. Ai cheers that this means that the effect of "Magnarokket Dragon" won't be able to send "Secure Gardna" to the Graveyard. Playmaker adds that as long as the monster Special Summoned by the effect of "Disconnect Linker" is on the field, monsters in the Extra Monster Zone cannot attack, and the energy shield protecting "Secure Gardna" flares, sending out blue energy pulses that pass over "Topologic Gumblar Dragon" and "Topologic Bomber Dragon". Ai cheers that now Varis's two ace monsters can't attack. Playmaker Sets "Transaction Rollback", and Ai sighs in relief that Playmaker managed to use up his entire hand. Then Playmaker adds that since the same number of turns have passed as the number of cards he sent to the Graveyard with "Drop Frame Wedge", it is destroyed. The prism of gel liquefies into a twister and then explodes into a shower of rain, drenching Playmaker and Varis before dissipating. As their Avatars begin to steam dry, Varis comments that now both of their monsters can attack, and Ai asks if this is all right, since now Varis has seven dragons and their situation is worse than before. Playmaker reassures him that it's all right. He watches Varis through the evaporating steam, and then he swings his arm and clenches his fist, telling Varis to come at him.
