I have been searching the web for sometime for the rulings regarding Karma Cut, and I can't seem to see an answer for my question.
Karma Cut - "Discard 1 card. Remove from play 1 face-up monster your opponent controls. Then, remove from play any cards in your opponent's Graveyard with the same name as that monster"
As far as I know, to fully activate a card's effect, you need to pay the cost, and then fulfill the conditions. WHAT WOULD HAPPEN IF THERE ARE NO MONSTERS IN THE OPONNENT'S GRAVEYARD WITH THE SAME NAME AS THAT MONSTER? No "YOU CAN" was stated, so I don't think you have a choice. Same goes with BOOK OF LIFE, wherein there's no "YOU CAN" stated upon removing the monster in the Graveyard from play. Yes, it may not be a cost needed to activate the card's effect, but really I can't find answers on forums. Help Please!
Will you be able to activate Karma Cut or not? Please help me, I've been having a hard time duelling since I have three copies of Karma Cut in my deck.
- Since the card lore says "Then, remove from play any cards in your opponent's Graveyard[...]" it doesn't have to be fulfilled if it is not possible. This applies to every card in the game.
On the other hand, if the card lore was "Discard 1 card. Remove from play 1 face-up monster your opponent controls and remove from play any cards in your opponent's Graveyard with the same name as that monster.", then you would have to remove at least 1 monster from your opponent's graveyard from play. That was quick, thanks! I have another inquiry, though it's not about Karma Cut anymore.
Every time you activate a trap card, your opponent gets the chance to activate a Chain right? And then the Chain resolves backwards. Does that mean you can still chain Compulsory Evacuation Device and other Normal Trap cards upon the activation of ROYAL DECREE? Since the chain resolves backwards, I think Royal Decree's effect would resolve last. I need a confirmation, thanks for helping!
