Condition : - My opponent has one monster and a set Royal Decree - I have one winged beast monster, a set icarus and mirror force

My opponent attacks me with his monster and i respond with icarus attack then he activated Royal Decree. I chained my Mirror Force to his Royal Decree. Can i do that?--118.137.219.184 (talk) 07:29, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

Next time, please ask questions about rulings in the Forum:Yu-Gi-Oh! Ruling Queries section.

Yes, you can do that. Since the Chain resolves in reverse, the effect of your Mirror Force will resolve before your opponent's Royal Decree.-- HHTurtle Talk   07:47, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

not 100% sure about that, mirror can only be activated in direct response to the attack, so he'd have lost his chance to activate MF. at least thats what i think, similar to the prison situation. Yes, im Pato (talkcontribs) 07:50, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

What are you talking about? You can activate Mirror Force in a chain that is in response to the the attack declaration. Please read more on the Breakdown of the Battle Phase page.-- HHTurtle Talk   07:55, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

but, mr rude guys #1 & #2, isn't this the same, i quote:

´´You only get one Chain to respond to the attack declaration. If you declare that you don't want to activate anything, then the game advances - you're now no longer acting in response to the attack declaration.´´ Deus Ex Machina (Talk) 04:19, August 4, 2010 (UTC)}}

Yes? Pato M, can I please know what you think is wrong with my explantion?-- HHTurtle Talk   08:17, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

The 2 situations are different.
  • 'Attack Declaration'
Turn Player - passes priority
Opponent - does nothing
'Attack Declaration' instantly ends here.
'Before Damage Step'
Turn Player - Book of Moon
Opponent - Cannot use D. Pris because it's not 'Attack Declaration' any more.
  • 'Attack Declaration'
Turn Player - passes priority
Opponent - Icarus Attack
Turn Player - Decree
Opponent - Mirror Force

So what was wrong with my explanation?-- HHTurtle Talk   08:31, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

There is nothing wrong, but someone who doesn't exactly know might get confused. The point is: The "respond to attack declaration" refers to 1 whole chain after attack declaration, not only the first card. So it is still attack declaration even at chain link 4. The point where deus said that is different. There you wanted to activate something after the chain from the attack declaration resolved (or in that special case: you didn't respond to the attack declaration, it directly advances to battle step, declaration is over and then your opponent activated book of moon). -dest- (talkcontribs) 09:00, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

I wasn't talking about that. Even if my explantion confuses certain people, it wasn't necessary for Pato M to refer to me as "mr rude guys #1 & #2", as well as saying "(like polite human beings, just try for once)". I don't understand why he would be mad at me.-- HHTurtle Talk   09:03, October 3, 2010 (UTC)

nvm, the only thing that matters is that the question was solved Yes, im Pato (talkcontribs) 19:44, October 3, 2010 (UTC)
