.....Yeah. Sorry if this is gonna sound a little rant-ish, because it is. This issue never bothered me until now. My only quarrel over it is how many people keep saying Dharc's a guy.

Alright, let's begin.

Have you ever heard of the term "trap". If you're a frequent anime watcher, or at least able to follow the flow of anime and manga, them you should've heard of it. For those who haven't, a trap is simply a guy who looks like a girl and dresses in female clothing. Traps are different from the bishonen because the latter only have feminine traits but still distinguishable as a guy, and they are usually not caught in girl clothes. But traps are different: Their existence in a story drives on being feminine until someone, usually a person who becomes in love with the 'girl' finds out the cold truth. Traps can be used in many ways, but usually, they're done for comedy. Here's an in-depth article about that.

So maybe, after you read that paragraph (and possibly the article) above, you're thinking, Say, Marx. If that is so, then is the opposite possible?

Yes.

Enter, the Reverse Trap. No, not that reverse trap, mind you. The reverse trap is exactly as it is implied: A girl who looks like a guy and wears male clothing. Being marketed as a guy throughout the story? Yes. For some reason, the knowledge of her true identity is kept from a 'victim'? Yes. Would it be, like it's counterpart, used for various genres like drama and comedy? Yes and yes.

So thanks for bearing with me with this post, as now I will make my point. Dharc, for all reasons intended, is justifiable, and can be concluded as, a girl.

So, why make a guy-ish girl in the group of charmers, you might ask? Well, one reason is to keep it fresh and everyone distinct from each other. Someone had to fall into that category eventually. So why not with either the LIGHT or DARK Charmer? Obviously, DARK gets chosen.

Then, why the hell did Kazuki Takahashi made a reverse trap in the first place? Hold up. First of all, Mr. Takahashi didn't drew the Charmers. Akina Fujiwara did. (Note that the card game has many artists working for them) And even IF he was the one who thought of them, he probably made it that way because some people like their reverse traps (if not many did, then the term shouldn't have existed).

And the whole point of the reverse-trap is, like the trap, you're supposed to figure out that it is a girl. I read someone had 'confirmation' that she's a guy. I don't want to say anything until I see it for myself, but even if it is true, it's either; a) a mistake in the programmers's area; or; b) left there on purpose to keep the disbelief.

And thanks for listening, folks. Dunno what will happen now, but only time will tell. If ever, I will wait for no confirmation other than Akina Fujiwara's on Dharc's gender. But since she's not talking, I wouldn't mind if you all keep it as "ambiguous". But to dismiss Dharc so easily as a guy, then that's being shallow, in my opinion.

PS: Before you say Yu-Gi-Oh! will never do a reverse trap!! EVAR!!1! lololol or anything similar, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime: Episode 20: Rei Saotome/Blair Flannigan, before the reveal.

According to the Japanese games, Dharc is a guy. -Blue-Eyes Starlight Dragon (talkcontribs) 02:17, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

It's exactly for that line there in Dharc's page did I add the third-to-last paragraph, in case you missed it. MarxMayhem (talkcontribs) 02:42, April 11, 2011 (UTC)

dharks obviously a dude NOW! the better question would be.....whats effect veilers gender? lol Raiga (talkcontribs) 00:57, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Dharc is MALE. Effect Veiler is FEMALE. Thanks so much. --FredCat 01:17, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Actually, Veiler is a bishonen, & is female, Dharc is just too androgynous though-Resk (Talk) 01:28, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
Define bishonen, it's not ever exist word; Resk. And why is that anger issue of your, Wheeler? --FredCat 01:36, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
  • What anger? I'm just saying, writing 9 paragraphs over the gender of a card... is kind of sad.--YamiWheeler (talkcontribs) 01:38, April 13, 2011 (UTC)
As per first result in google
"Definition for bishounen:
Bishōnen||extra=also transliterated , is a Japanese term literally meaning "beautiful youth (boy)""

Same problem with Rally in Germany.

--Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 02:21, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

heck, same problem with Rally in JP, no-one on the wiki could decide for a while what he was,-Resk (Talk) 02:27, April 13, 2011 (UTC)

Yep. I kind of figured fans will talk about this. Well it's pretty obvious that it's a chick. Every charmer has to be girls or it will ruin the archetype. I'm pretty sure it's not like the creator to create a crossdressor. Even if it's a he, it doesn't really matter because as long as he is a charmer, the fans are satisfied.
