This is my Glad Beast deck I want to use for the Irish Nationals, any ideas on how to improve it?

Suggestions

I think Shield Warrior is very interesting tech in there, but I'm not sure you'll need it with all the Defensive Tactics and Waboku that you're already using. That's probably the main reason you have cards that require cost as well as Foolish Burial. I'd really like to see 1x Gladiator Beast Retiari in there because he truly makes a difference. I haven't seen a Glad Beast deck top without him yet. -- Sub 16:23, 13 February 2009 (UTC)

If you want a true Gladiator Beast Deck you need to build your deck around the Gladiator Beasts. Here's some cards:

shining dragon whatever your name is no one uses those gladiator beast. your smart with glads but take out sangan and add shrink x3 and add cold wave X3 have waboku x3 or defensive tactics x3 but not both.add book of moon not book of eclipse. add 1 more gb darius. no divine wrath and phoenix wing whatever ,giant trunade,and foolish burial .good look at irish regionals

I'm sorry sir, but do you know what your even talking about? I agree with adding Book of Moons, but the rest of your post is just incorrect. The current format doesn't agree with you. Waboku is no longer used because, simply put, it sucks. It lets Glads tag-out, but it lets the opposing monsters survive.

Mirror Wall is much better because it lets Gladiators tag-out, and it kills the attacking monster. Even Bottomless Trap Hole is better, because monster removal is still better than whatever Waboku accomplishes. Sangan should stay because it replaces itself in the hand, and adds to the toolbox aspect of the Gladiators. And Book of Eclipse is never good, outside of a Mill deck. It lets your opponent plow through there deck, making the deck even faster. Why would you want to do that?

Ok, first off, I'd like to apologize to ShiningDragon55 in advance, because of this: you should NEVER, EVER use any [at least most]of those cards if you ever want to compete in a competitive environment. With the recent March Ban List , I'd like to introduce you to the new Gladiator deck. Here it is:

This deck is made to combat Lightsworns, and is also a smoother Build. You wont need Cold Waves, because Sworns don't need to activate S/T's to win. Some even run Cold Waves. Thats all. BEWK 00:37, 19 February 2009 (UTC)

  • I'd replace your Shield Warriors and Foolish (good idea, it's just too slow, and can result in TERRIBLE hands) with 2x Shrink and 2x Mirror Wall (this will add a huge defence boost and is VERY useful). Also, replace Karma Cut (good, not good enough) with a Rescue Cat (get 2 samnites from your deck, Heraklinos anyone?) umm... Normally I wouldn't ask...but.... would you mind taking a look at my Dark Creator DDT? No one's posting on it so I need to ask XP --Tantara 02:02, 3 March 2009 (UTC)

Waaaay better!!!

this deck is pretty good dont take out shield warrior but do take out foolish burial.I think you should have 3 defense tactics or 3 wabokus but dont have both.No parry or secutor these cards are not for the elite glads.

  • I'd do everything Takuma says, except instead of replacing Karma Cuts with Rescue Cats, replace Karma Cuts with Bottomless Trap Hole. Toss in Rescue Cats by taking out 1 Prisma and a Samnite. 3 Prismas are overkill. Thats all. --bewk 04:36, 3 March 2009 (UTC)
  • Just as a note: Those suggestions are not by me but by Tantara (Similar name different people), I have not made a suggestion to this GB thread/topic yet mainly due to lazyness lol. Also I havent looked over this deck but yeah, prisma x 3 overkill and not needed. Take out karma cuts but I wouldn't suggest putting in Bottomless as a main deck. That is purely opinion though. It works in mirror matches, Bottomless the Bestiari and its all good.--Takuma. 04:58, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

Here's the new deck. I tried it at the regional qualifier(all except murmillo) and came eighth - I got an invite to the nationals, any ideas how to increase my chances of winning (I won 2 out of 4 matches in the qualifier)

Did you necrobump this? Anyway, to make your Deck effective in the Sept. 2010 list..


  • Shield Warriorx2 -Take out
  • Rescue Catx2 - banned
  • Reinforcement of the Army - using proving ground instead
  • Heavy Stormx1 -banned
  • Cold Wavex2 -limited
  • Gladiator Beast War Chariotx2 - need 1 more
  • Divine Wrathx1 -3 chariots
  • Wabokux - get rid of 2, add 2 bottomless trap holes.

Max out Book of Moon and Enemy Controller. Add Mirror Force.
