Forum:Need Advice - Blue-Eyes Beatdown?

Hello all: I've been toying with the idea of creating a deck revolving around Blue-Eyes Dragon. So far, the cards I've been considering are:

...and that's about it. I'm now stuck.

Oh, there's always The White Stone of Legend, and a few other cards, but I'd like to hear other people's opinions. Fusion oriented, Synchro, both? What cards (and how many) would you include in this type of deck, and, most importantly, why?

Your constructive ideas are greatly appreciated. Thank you so much in advance. --Kungfu-mama(talk) 18:36, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

Lighten the Load isn't necessarily needed, and only use Birthright if you've already added Monster Reborn and Call of the Haunted. Another thing to use is Kaibaman, either at 1 or 2. Also, 2 Rykos greatly speed up the Deck, which is why you should add Debris Dragon to revive Kaibaman, Rykos, or Dandylions. Don't use Paladin of White Dragon, it really slows the Deck down. 1-2 Trade-Ins and 2 Cards of Consonance (or 3, if you're doing 3 Debris and 3 White Stones), also, a good choice is to use Elemental Hero Prisma 2x and Stratos, and a ROTA, which opens up the ability for E-HERO Fusions, and lets you use the Prisma-Burst Streak combo. Also, unless this Deck has crazy removal power with Miracle Fusion and Dragon's Mirror, don't use Return from the Different Dimension, but D.D.R instead. Also, D.D. Warrior Lady and/or Luster Dragon and/or Spear Dragon and/or Vanguard of the Dragon are exceptional. --Drew-Gi-Oh! (talk) 18:51, October 17, 2010 (UTC)

  • One thing I've been struggling with is whether or not I should stay with mostly Light monsters, or go with a mixture. If mainly Light, I can throw in Honest to inflict further damage. Gotta love inflicting damage.
  • Too, I may not need the Orichalcos Shunoros unless I go with more of a geminii/plain vanilla type of build. Thoughts?

Well, let's try mocking up a sample deck. Here goes!

So tell me, what would you change and why? --Kungfu-mama(talk) 18:51, October 19, 2010 (UTC)

There are a few things to consider when making a deck; out of those I usually take note of "Theme" and "Budget". Now, I see you want a BEWD theme deck but I would personally make him a side dish and focus on the fact that he is a Normal,Dragon and a level 8 monster. Naturally, I'm talking about using Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon combined with normal monster support. A few formats back, I made a rather fun deck that takes advantage of BEWD's status and it's fairly cheap to boot if you ignore REDMD (don't worry, there are plenty of ways to play without him), so if you want I can post the deck list for you. And just so that I don't leave without giving off some tips: using Tri-Horned Dragon along with BEWD, Summoner's Art becomes a very handy card; not to mention the fact that his Dark attribute opens new windows of opportunity.Otakon7 (talkcontribs) 16:40, October 20, 2010 (UTC)

  • Oh the possibilites! Thanks for the advice! I actually ran a REDMD centered dragon deck that had Blue-Eyes in it, but ended up taking BEWD out to see if I couldn't get things to run a bit smoother. In this case, I am trying to build something that isn't so dragon oriented, but more like a standard Beatdown or a Gemini Beatdown deck. Still, I'd LOVE to see your Dragon deck list - I kinda miss old blue-eyes to tell the truth. If you get a chance, would you mind posting it on my talk page? Thanks so much!
