Card Rulings:Banisher of the Radiance
OCG Rulings
- If "Banisher of the Radiance"/"Macro Cosmos"/etc is active, then you can activate the effect of "Gallis the Star Beast". The top card of your deck will be removed from play instead. Also, if the removed card is a monster, then you still inflict damage and Special Summon "Gallis the Star Beast".[1]
- While an effect like that of "Banisher of the Radiance" or "Macro Cosmos" is active, it is impossible to discard a card to the Graveyard. The activation costs of the effects of "Jowgen the Spiritualist", "Abyss Soldier" and "Return of the Doomed" require you to discard a card to the Graveyard, which is impossible, so you cannot activate their effects. However, the activation costs of effects like "Magic Jammer" only require you to discard a card, so you can activate their effects since the card does not need to be discarded to the Graveyard.[2]
- "At the end of the Damage Step", as mentioned in the text of cards like "Legendary Jujitsu Master", occurs at the same time as "when the monster which is destroyed by battle is sent to the Graveyard". Or, if "Macro Cosmos" or "Banisher of the Radiance" is active, then this occurs at the same time as "when the monster which is destroyed by battle is removed from play".[3]
- You can treat "Dragunity Javelin" as an Equip Spell Card and equip it to a Winged-Beast-Type "Dragunity" monster even the effect of a card like "Banisher of the Radiance" or "Banisher of the Light" or "Macro Cosmos" or "Dimensional Fissure" is active when "Dragunity Javelin" would be destroyed while it is face-up in the Monster Card Zone. If the effect is not applied, then "Dragunity Javelin" is removed from play by the effect of the card like "Banisher of the Light".[4]
Previously Official Rulings
These TCG rulings were issued by Upper Deck Entertainment and have since been declared unofficial by Konami.[6] They were previously considered official and can still be correct, as long as they follow the official gameplay rules, or unless Konami has issued a ruling that says otherwise. Mentions in Other Rulings
- Gadget Hauler: If "Gadget Hauler's" effect is activated while "Banisher of the Radiance" is face-up on the field, the "Morphtronic" monsters are removed from play instead of being sent to the Graveyard, and “Gadget Hauler’s” ATK does not increase.
- Herald of Green Light / Herald of Orange Light / Herald of Purple Light: If "Banisher of the Radiance" or "Macro Cosmos" is face-up on the field, you cannot activate [the "Herald"'s] effect because you cannot send it and another Fairy-Type monster to the Graveyard for the cost.
Judge List Rulings
- If "Banisher of the Radiance" and "Sangan" are destroyed simultaneously by an effect like "Lightning Vortex", then both are sent to the Graveyard and "Sangan's" effect activates normally.[5]
