1X[edit]
7210: Spell Card > Wrath of Neos
3X[edit]
7233: Effect Monster > Mist Valley Thunderbird
- The effect of "Mist Valley Thunderbird" which Special Summons it is a Trigger Effect that activates in the hand.
- The "cannot attack" effect of "Mist Valley Thunderbird" is resolved as the same effect which Special Summons it.
- The effect of "Mist Valley Thunderbird" which Special Summons it will activate even if "Mist Valley Thunderbird" is returned to your hand during the Damage Step.
4X[edit]
7240: For "Gaap the Divine Soldier", is revealing your hand to your opponent a cost? Please explain.
- Revealing a Fiend-Type monster(s) from your hand is a cost to activate the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" which increases its ATK.
- When activating the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier", you can reveal any number of Fiend-Type monsters; you do not have to reveal every Fiend-Type monster in your hand.
- Example: If you have two Fiend-Type monsters in your hand, then you may only reveal one of them to increase the ATK of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" by only 300.
- The effect "Halve the ATK and DEF of any monster that battles with this card." of "Gaia Plate the Earth Giant" is a Continuous Effect which is applied during Damage Calculation. This effect does not start a Chain.
7246: Can monsters be Set while the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is active?
- While the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" is active, monsters may still be Set in face-down Defense Position. However, the effect of "Gaap the Divine Soldier" will immediately be applied, so that the monster changes to face-up Attack Position. If the monster has a Flip Effect, then it will not activate.
5X[edit]
7254: Does the effect of "Tsukuyomi" activate if "Dark Simorgh" is on the field?
- If "Dark Simorgh" is on the field when your opponent Summons "Tsukuyomi", then its effect activates but resolves without effect. If "Dark Simorgh" is on the field when you Summon "Tsukuyomi", then its effect activates and is applied.
- If the effect of "Cyber Jar" activates while "Dark Simorgh" is on the field, then the effect of "Dark Simorgh" which prevents Setting is no longer applied as soon as "Dark Simorgh" is destroyed. Thus, players may use the effect of "Cyber Jar" to Set monsters. For "Morphing Jar #2", the effect of "Dark Simorgh" is no longer applied as soon as "Dark Simorgh" is returned to the Deck, so the opponent may Set monsters in face-down Defense Position.
7257: Can you not activate the effect of "Emperor Sem" if there is no card in either player's Graveyard?
- If your opponent has no cards in his Graveyard, you can still activate the effect of "Emperor Sem" as long as you have one or more cards in your Graveyard. You cannot activate the effect of "Emperor Sem" if you have no card in your Graveyard.
- If control a "Beast Machine King Barbaros Ür" equipped with your "Fairy Meteor Crush" or "Big Bang Shot", then when it battles, its effect will make the Battle Damage it inflicts to the opponent become 0, so it will not inflict Battle Damage to your opponent. Also, if you control a "Beast Machine King Barbaros Ür" equipped with an opponent's "Fairy Meteor Crush", then when it battles, the Battle Damage will be inflicted to you.
7259: Can you Normal Summon in face-up Defense Position while "Dark Simorgh" is on the field?
- While "Dark Simorgh" is on the field, the opponent may not Normal Summon a monster from his hand in face-down Defense Position. He may only Normal Summon a monster in face-up Attack Position. He may not Normal Summon a monster in face-up Defense Position.
6X[edit]
- When a monster is successfully Tribute Summoned or Tribute Set, the player who controls "Emperor Sem" chooses whether or not the effect activates. When you activate the effect of your "Emperor Sem", you must return a card to your Deck, but your opponent may choose to place a monster on the top of his Deck or not.
- While the effect of "Dark Simorgh" is active, your opponent cannot activate the effect of a card like "Guardian Sphinx" or "Stealth Bird" which switches the monster to face-down Defense Position. Also, if the effect of "Guardian Sphinx" is activated and an effect like "Call of the Haunted" is chained so that "Dark Simorgh" is Special Summoned from the Graveyard, then your opponent can no longer Set, so the effect of "Guardian Sphinx" is not applied and the monster is not switched to Defense Position.
7264: Can "Book of Moon" or "The Shallow Grave" be activated if "Dark Simorgh" is on the field?
- While "Dark Simorgh" is on the field, the opponent cannot Set cards on the field, so he cannot activate the effect of "Book of Moon", and neither player may activate "The Shallow Grave".
- After resolving the effect of "Kuraz the Light Monarch", it is treated as being both "When a monster is destroyed" and "When a card is drawn". The "destroy" and "draw" parts are considered to resolve simultaneously.
- Example: If "Kuraz the Light Monarch" destroys "Yubel", then even if you draw a card the effect of "Yubel" does not miss the timing and can be activated, so that "Yubel - Terror Incarnate" is Special Summoned.
7266: Are "Dark Simorgh" and "Red-Eyes Darkness Dragon" Normal Summon Monsters?
- "Red-Eyes Darkness Metal Dragon" and "Dark Simorgh" are Normal Summon Monsters, so they can be Tribute Summoned from the hand. They may also be Special Summoned from the Graveyard with another card effect, even if the monster is sent directly to the Graveyard from the hand or Deck.
7X[edit]
7270: Please explain the details of resolving the effect of "Lucky Chance".
- When "Lucky Chance" is face-up in the Spell/Trap Card Zone, if an Effect Monster's effect which requires a coin flip is activated, then the effect of "Lucky Chance" activates in chain to the Effect Monster's effect. It is mandatory (so you cannot choose to not activate the effect).
- If you activate an effect that requires a coin flip and chain a face-down "Lucky Chance" to that effect, then you can apply the effect of "Lucky Chance".
- You call which side of the coin at resolution. However, you draw when you resolve the Effect Monster's Effect after you determine the result of the coin toss.
- An example of using the effect of "Lucky Chance": the effect of "Abare Ushioni" activates, and then the effect of "Lucky Chance" is chained. First, you resolve "Lucky Chance" and declare "tails". Next, the effect of "Abare Ushioni" resolves. The coin lands on "tails", so after resolving the effect of "Abare Ushioni" you draw 1 card.
8X[edit]
- Fusion Monsters are Special Summon monsters, so they cannot be Special Summoned from the Graveyard if they were not, at one time, Special Summoned by the correct procedure before being sent to the Graveyard. Thus, an effect like "Monster Reborn" cannot Special Summon a Fusion Monster which was discarded from the Extra Deck to the Graveyard by the effect of "Gale Dogra".
9X[edit]
7292: Effect Monster >
- This monster is a Normal Summon Monster.
- The effect which negates the effect of a card on the field targets one face-up card on the field.
- [[:Card Rulings:]]
- If a Token Monster or "Embodiment of Apophis" is being treated as "Elemental Hero Neos" because of "Hero Mask", then you may select it as a target of "Wrath of Neos". If "Wrath of Neos" attempts to return the Token Monster to the Deck, then the Token Monster disappears instead, so "Wrath of Neos" does not destroy the cards on the field because you did not return the Token Monster to the Deck. If "Wrath of Neos" targets "Embodiment of Apophis", then "Embodiment of Apophis" is returned to the Deck, so all cards on the field are destroyed.
7296: When a card's effect is negated by "", how long is it negated?
- The negating effect of "[[:]]" does not end during the End Phase. The effects of the targeted card remains negated during the entire turn.
- Example: The effects of Spirit Monsters, "Majestic Mech - Goryu", and "Jain, Lightsworn Paladin" will activate during the End Phase, but they will be negated and resolve without effect.
- [[:Card Rulings:]], Card Rulings:Lightsworn, Card Rulings:Majestic Mech - Goryu, Card Rulings:Spirit Monster
- When Fusion Summoning "Elemental Hero Divine Neos", you cannot treat "Elemental Hero Neos" as both an "Elemental Hero" monster and a "Neos" monster. If you use "Elemental Hero Neos" as a Fusion Material Monster for "Elemental Hero Divine Neos", then you must use another "Elemental Hero" monster or another "Neos" monster.
- If you cannot Set because of "Dark Simorgh" or "Searchlightman", then you can still activate "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow", as long as it was Set beforehand. When resolving the effect, the attack will be negated, but "Scrap-Iron Scarecrow" will be sent to the Graveyard since it cannot be Set.
