An Infinite Loop is a never-ending cycle of cards trying to resolve.
However: it isn't counted as an illegal loop when
- One or more cards in the loop are 'YOU CAN' effects, so that you can quit the loop easily.
- The loop ends at some point because a winning condition is archieved.
Such loops are called 'controlled' loops. If however the loop is an infinite circle of effects that can't be ended by both ways described above, the loop is a real Infinite Loop. Getting Stuck in such a loop will cause a never-ending game.
Because of this, a ruling was introduced that states you may not activate a card knowing that it will cause an Infinite Loop.
