Chain Link

A Chain Link (チェーンブロック Chēnburokku "Chain Block") is a single step within a Chain. Each new effect started within a Chain adds a new Chain Link (numbered one greater than the previously greatest Chain Link number). Each Chain Link can only have one card effect. There is no general restriction on the number of times a card can activate its effect in the same Chain, but some card (such as "Light and Darkness Dragon") have this restriction specifically imposed on them by their card text.

Chains are resolved starting from the Chain Link with the greatest number in descending order.

Notes

  1. As for OCG terms, the parentheses here specify what part is always dropped in card text, but is mentioned in the official rulebooks.
