Divine-Beast (Japanese: げんしんじゅう Genshinjū "Phantom God Beast"; Chinese: 幻神獸族 Huànshénshòuzú) is a Type used for the Egyptian God Cards: "Slifer the Sky Dragon", "Obelisk the Tormentor" and "The Winged Dragon of Ra" (including their illegal prints). In Yu-Gi-Oh! R, the Wicked Gods are Divine-Beast-Type monsters; in the Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's anime, the Aesir are Divine-Beast-Type monsters.

The three Egyptian God Cards are considered the most powerful cards in the Yu-Gi-Oh! anime and manga, each having their own unique and devastating effects.

Prior to the release of the legal prints of "Obelisk the Tormentor", "Slifer the Sky Dragon", and "The Winged Dragon of Ra", Divine-Beast was originally not a legal Type, since it only appeared on the illegal prints. With their release, it can now be declared with cards like "DNA Surgery". There is currently no support for Divine-Beast-Type monsters.

Divine Type

In Reshef of Destruction, the Divine Type was given to monsters so that they would not be affected by the game's standard type system, which caused monsters of certain types to automatically destroy monsters of certain types. Any cards that target "light type" monsters may also target Divine-Beasts (this might have been applied in some video games, but it does not apply to real game play). For example, "Kaiser Sea Horse's" effect applies to the summoning of Divine-Beast-Type monsters. Also, contrary to popular belief, the Divine type is just as Susceptible to card effects as any other monster, not including monsters with the ability in their effect not to be effected by said effects.
