A Tribute Summon (Japanese: アドバンス
Tributing a monster for a Tribute Summon is part of a Summoning condition. Therefore, if the Tribute Summon is negated, the Tributed monster(s) will not return to the field.
Interactions with effects
- Some cards require 3 Tributes to be Normal Summoned. (e.g.: "The Wicked Avatar")
- Some monsters can be Tribute Summoned with varying numbers of monsters. (e.g.: "Moisture Creature")
- Some cards allow Spell or Trap Cards to be Tributed in place of monsters. (e.g.: "Dinomight Knight, the True Dracofighter", "Ancient Gear Castle")
- Some cards allow high-Level monsters to be Normal Summoned with fewer or no Tributes. (e.g.: "Fog King", "Mausoleum of the Emperor") However, if no cards are Tributed to perform the Normal Summon, the Summon is not considered a Tribute Summon, unless a card specifies otherwise (such as "Tribute Burial").
