'''Extra Monster Zones''' are the 2 [[Zone]]s in the center of the field where [[Monster Card|monsters]] [[Summon]]ed from the [[Extra Deck]] are placed on the [[field]]. Only [[Fusion Monster|Fusion]], [[Synchro Monster|Synchro]], [[Xyz Monster|Xyz]] and [[Link Monster]]s can occupy the Extra Monster Zones.

If a [[Fusion Monster|Fusion]], [[Synchro Monster|Synchro]], [[Xyz Monster|Xyz]], or [[Pendulum Monster]] is Special Summoned from the Extra Deck, it must be placed in the Extra Monster Zone or a [[Linked Zone]]. (If one of these monsters would be Special Summoned from another location, it is placed in a [[Main Monster Zone]].) While both Extra Monster Zones are unoccupied, neither is treated as being part of the [[Fieldfield]] of any player. When a player [[Special Summons]] a monster to an Extra Monster Zone, that zone is then treated as part of their field while it is occupied, while the other zone is automatically treated as part of their opponent's field. A player can only occupy 1 Extra Monster Zone at a time.
