- This card can be searched via "Sangan", "Sphere of Chaos", "Last Will" and "Giant Rat".
- Use this card against Gladiator Beasts, as they cannot break through this unless with "Test Tiger", "Gladiator Beast Andal" and common monster removal like Gladiator Beast Murmillo and Smashing Ground.
- This card is a good counter to Synchro Monsters (Especially Stardust Dragon).
- If your opponent has a full monster field and they declare an attack, activate "Staunch Defender" to return all there monsters to the top of their deck, clogging up there draws for five turns (unless they draw outside their draw phase). Make sure this monster has been powered up by some kind of defense increase such as "Yellow Luster Shield", "Chorus of Sanctuary", or "The Reliable Guardian" to prevent a high attack monster from destroying this card.
- Use it with Waboku and Battle Mania which will result in your opponent returning a good number of their monsters to their Deck.
