===Family tragedy===
Marik hung his head in shame, as Ishizu and Rishid approached him. Ishizu reminded him that their family had lived in darkness for thousands of years and said it had been his destiny to end that. She said that revenge should not last thousands of years or even a lifetime and suggested that their family may have been given the duty of guarding the pharaoh's memories, so that the pharaoh could teach them that lesson. Marik asked her if their family could live outside of the dark. She replied that she, Marik and Rishid were Tomb Guardians and family no matter where they live.<ref name="d d 217" /> Rishid, who had long yearned to be considered a member of the family<ref name="d d 155" /> was surprised and thankful to hear that.<ref name="d d 217" />
Ishizu and Marik fulfilled To fulfill their duties as Tomb Guardians, by revealing Marik showed the [[Seal of Memories]] on his back to Dark Yugi. Ishizu explained that the depicted hieroglyphics contained the prophecy foretelling the pharaoh's memory which had been carved onto Marikreturn and the pharaoh could be identified, as he would wield the stone slabs of the three gods. With the God cards, being the modern form of the stone slabs and now being in Dark Yugi's backpossession, Ishizu said this was proof of him being pharaoh and that he deserved to know the truth of his lost memories. <ref name="d d 218" /> With their duties fulfilled and their family reunited, Ishizu, Marik and Rishid then returned to Egypt to start a new life.<ref name="d d 218" />
