They consist of monsters whose effects activated activate when a player has no cards in their hand. This archetype resembles much of the wild west, with cards such as "Infernity Archfiend", "Infernity Necromancer", and "Infernity Mirage" alluding to the native Americans while cards like "Infernity Avenger", "Infernity Randomizer", and "Infernity Launcher" (whose original Japanese name was Infernity Gun) relate to the cowboys. This archetype was used by Kalin Kessler in Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's.In episodes 33, 34, and - 35 in the english dub version of Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's, these Infernity monsters, spells and/or traps were known the archetype was referred to as "Infernalty".== Appearance ==The first "Infernity cards were released " has two primary themes within their artworks; members originating from the anime have a more Wild West-inspired aesthetic, as promotional cards in seen with "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Stardust AcceleratorInfernity Avenger: " and "Infernity ArchfiendRandomizer", for cowboys and the likes of "Infernity DwarfArchfiend", and "Infernity GuardianMirage"for Native Americans. Meanwhile, the manga members much more closely resemble chess pieces akin to the early "Infernity DestroyerArchfiend was released in the " monsters, namely "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's Stardust Accelerator - World Championship 2009 Game GuideInfernity Patriarch in Japan. The first Infernity card released in a booster set was " and "Infernity BeastKnight" . Fire is also a commonality shared by members of the archetype and as their name implies, are generally demonic in Ancient Prophecyappearance. Two additional == Etymology =="Infernity cards soon followed with " is a portmanteau of the release of Stardust Overdrive: Infernity Necromancer words "Infernal/Inferno" and the first Infernity trap card Infernity Force"Infinity"
Playing style
As the monster Effects imply, this deck is focused The archetype has a play-style focusing on having no hand. Using discarding effects, such as Raigeki Break and an empty Phoenix Wing Wind Blast is the fastest way to empty your hand while setting up your graveyard for cards like Infernity Necromancer and Infernity Launcher. Used correctly, this deck can become very powerful on its ownwith in-theme ways of emptying it to make their plays. However, you This can add make cards that force discards a twist by adding in cards from one or two different bonus for the ArchetypeDeckseven against an archetype that would focus on doing so. The first is the "They also possess strong Dark WorldSpecial Summon" seriescapabilities, allowing them to take advantage of multiple mechanics. Most A key member of the support tends Deck is "Infernity Archfiend", able to involve discarding cards from the Special Summon itself when drawn into an empty hand and Special Summoning from allowing for a search upon doing so. As such, having it in your starting hand can dampen the graveyard, and most usefulness of the monsters benefit from thiscard though there are workarounds. With "Infernity NecromancerWildcat and the release of " can help with getting monsters into the support cards in The Shining DarknessGY, Infernity cards seem to be heading that way allow one to get going as well. The other Archetype is the it gets rid of a fellow "FabledInfernity" series. Like the Dark World set, these cards focus primarily on discarding cards in the player's hand. The key difference, however, is that the Fabled do not actually discard cards to use their own effects, but rather to decrease the number of cards the player is holdingSpecial Summon itself, and as their monsters can use their effects only when the player's hand is low on cards, or empty altogether. For this reason, they seem to fit in better with the Infernity cards. Notable cards are a Fabled RavenTuner (a Level 2, 1300 ATK allows for easier Summon monster which lets you discard any number ing on top of cards being able to increase modify its Level by 1, and its ATK by 400, for each card. This effectively lets you empty your hand to have a high Level, high power own TunerLevel monster) and by Fabled Soulkiusbanish (ing a Level 6comrade from the GY, 2200 ATK while "Avenger" requires a monster which lets you discard two cards to Special Summon it from the graveyard, fitting perfectly into both the themes of the Infernity cards)be destroyed. On top of that, the One could use this with "General" are all LIGHT monsters, while the who in turn banishes itself to revive 2 Level 3 or lower "Infernity cards are all " monsters which could also set up DARKXyz Summon monsters, so even the powerful s. "Chaos SorcererInfernity Beetle can be splashed into this deck, and in " is another Level 2 Tuner which Traditional FormatTribute, the great and mighty duo s itself to Chaos Emperor Dragon - Envoy of the EndSummon and additional copies from the Deck while you have a bare hand, adding to Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the Beginningswarming capabilities. Another Archetype that could help helpful member is "Necromancer", they who can help to make immediately go into Synchro SummonDefense Positions more consistent and summon with a decent 2000 Hundred-Eyes DragonDEF and remove cards Special Summons more resources from either archetype to Beatdown the opponent.  Zombie-type monsters could also GY, which can be mixed into an combined with "Infernity deck. Zombies tend to work off of the grave Mirage" for swarming and, in turn, could recovery though note "Mirage" itself cannot be used as main discard fodderSpecial Summoned. You'll most likely summon the monsters you discarded anyway, so discarding them to kill your hand probably won't affect you much. As of "The Shining DarknessInfernity Conjurer release" revives itself and, while your hand is empty, lowers the Infernity archetype has become much more GraveyardATK basedof opposing monsters by 800. Both "Infernity MirageDwarf and Infernity Launcher can quickly and effectively summon " simply grants your monsters from the grave. And because the most common way piercing battle damage which may be of emptying your hand is discardingsome use, you'll have plenty of guys in your grave to summon. whilst "Infernity AvengerBeast can also summon himself and possibly become one of the only Lv.5+ tuners. Because of new graveyard tactics, the Infernity have become less and less reliant of topdecking, turning this rather risky deck type into a powerful tool of decimation. Another Tech Choice is " shuts down Hate BusterSpell as most of the s/InfernityTrap monsters are s when it attacks. "Destroyer " sports a decent 2300 ATK and have reasonably low attack. can deal an additional 1600 Hate Bustereffect damage gives the deck much needed protection against your opponent's strong when it destroys a monster, conversely "Guardian" cannot be destroyed by battle or card’s effects while face-up which can help with playing defensivelyEven though Infernity decks "Randomizer" allows for some draw-power while also inflicting burn damage if it draws a monster but can manipulate also burn you for 500 damage if anything else is drawn. "Patriarch" relies on being the number of DARK monsters in their Graveyard at ease, Dark Armed Dragon is not a recommended only card, due to the possibility of it getting stuck in your hand, hindering the entire deckto Special Summon itself, and you don't want your Infernities Removed can banish itself from Play. You could use a card like Blade Knight because it gains power with one or less cards in your hand, fitting rather nicely with the theme of the Infernitys. It's usually not recommended GY to use save your cards such as from destruction while "Full SalvoKnight", "Fine" and "Rope of Life", since, while they can empty your hand, they also give small benefits and most times the loss outweighs the gain2 cards at a time to revive itselfThe Infernity deck structure is now able to effectively summon several high-level "Synchro MonstersInfernity Archer every turn, providing the right cards exist on the field or in-hand" simply attacks directly. A popular choice is to Synchro Summon Trishula, Dragon In terms of the Ice Barrier or Mist WurmExtra Deck, and exploit their field-clearing abilities, while Infernity Launcher (whether in the hand or on the field) will allow the player to summon a second Trishula or Wurm via Infernity NecromancerSynchro Monster, "Infernity Doom Archfiend, " can Infernity Beetlenegate and another copy of Infernity Launcher, to clear the opponentany face-up card's fieldeffects and on a bare-bones hand, hand and graveyard of can also destroy it while also doubling any cards blocking a direct attackbattle damage it inflicts. Another good It also grants any DARK Synchro Monster is up to 2 attacks each Hundred-Eyes DragonBattle Phase due to the fact that it can copy most of the ability's used by a . "Dragon deck. However, you want your Infernity monsters in the Graveyard, so it " can target and destroy a monster before inflicting half its ATK as damage but won’t be a double-edged swordable to attack== Weaknesses == Infernities, despite their enormous potential as an Instant Synchro deckIn terms of Spells and Traps, have a number of crucial weaknesses. Of course, the foremost one staple card is the one shared among most of today's competitive decks - "Special SummonInfernity Launcher and Graveyard reliance. Cards like Royal Oppression, Macro Cosmos, Dimensional Fissure, Crevice Into " as it can empty the Different Dimension hand faster and any other that could lock down the main assets bring back 2 of your monsters by sending itself to the deck are the most dangerous threat, GY. Combined with "Skill Drain placing just after them in terms of threat. SideWave-Deck Imperial Iron WallMotion Inferno to combat against the removal cards, " this can quickly power up your monsters and Twister to deal with Royal Oppression and Skill Drainstart off strong. Cards like "D.D. Crow and Battle Fader that can be activated in hand can give major surprise and/or lockdown to Infernity combo. Cards like Threatening Roar and WabokuParanoia " can slow Infernity for a turn, allowing you Tribute your monsters to get a bit of timing to counter. Also, by themselves they Summon another from the Deck or GY but its effects are negated as a fairly weak archetyperesult, with and must have different name but the same Level as the most powerful non-Synchro card, Infernity Destroyer, being only 2300 ATK and without a strong enough effectTribute. Hindering "Paranoia" can also recover resources during the key cards of next turn after it was sent to the deck with GY. "ProhibitionZERO-MAX " helps with reviving your monsters and the like can also disrupt their strategy dramatically, since this will leave cards in hand, stopping clear the effects of opponent's Infernity monsters. Infernity monsters are also severely affected by Consecrated Lightfield. This monster prevents the Summoning of DARK monsters; therefore disabling Synchro-Summoning. Be careful, Dark monsters can be Flip-Summonedwith equal or lower ATK to boot. "Consecrated LightPhantom Hand will only stall for " is a turn or two. And if you're looking for cards to side against Infernities, D.D. Crow, Crevice Into the Different DimensionContinuous Trap and likes shuts down any Infernity OTK move. The fact that this deck depends on having no cards in your allows its controller to banish their entire hand can face-down which could be a weakness itself. If you play counter in a large number of cards and then your opponent plays a field-clearing card like Judgment Dragon or Black Rose Dragon, pinch against Decks that would lose you may find yourself painted into a cornerthe game. To keep this from happening an "Infernity GuardianSuppression is " can negate a great defense since monster's effect and inflict burn damage, making it can't be destroyed by effects. Another weakness of an Infernity deck is that valuable with the fact it can be completely shut down by Ambitious Gofer due to activated the fact that turn it takes advantage of was Set if you have an empty hand. == Strengths == Currently, the most noticeable strength of an Infernity deck is its ability to Instant Synchro with ease, thanks to cards like "Infernity LauncherBarrier and Infernity Necromancer, which allow for very fast Special Summoning from " on the Graveyard. Similarly to Launcherother hand, is a Infernity MirageCounter Trap that can Special Summon two more Infernity monsters simply by being Tributednegate anything while your hand is lacking, and making it's rather easy to keep a hand empty thanks to many cards like staple. "Raigeki BreakInfernity Reflector, Phoenix Wing Wind Blast, Into " empties the Void hand when your monster is destroyed and so onrevives it before inflicting 1000 damage. Also, the Infernity archetype has its own specific Counter-Trap in the form of "Infernity BarrierVoid Ogre Dragon, " is a card that can jam almost anything by itself. If properly used, the deck can guarantee an OTK situation with its main combo, which allows useful Synchro Monster for the Synchro Summon of three Lv. 9 Synchro Monsters Deck (Mist Wurm in the TCG, Trishula, Dragon of the Ice Barrier and was even used by Kalin Kessler in the OCGmanga), plus another Synchro Monster providing a big 3000 ATK beatstick who can negate and an Infernity Archfiend, or two Archfiends. Otherwise, it can simply destroy any Spells/Traps the opponent would use the many ways it has to Special Summon from the Graveyard to provide material for other Synchro Summons, not necessarily having to rely on big plays==Post-September 2010 Strategy== After the September 2010 Forbidden list, the Infernity strategy became less OTK oriented and more control oriented. The place of primary tuner, once take by "Infernity BeetleCharge Into a Dark World, now belongs to " can resurrect practically any of the Infernity AvengerMain Deck. In additionmembers before emptying your hand, the loop is now about summoning level eight synchro monsters, not level ninesmaking it a perfect fit. "Hundred-Eyes DragonDark World Dealings has become " might also be of use as it can draw a much more important cardwhile also providing your GY with resources. It is being used to remove "Infernity MirageCherubini, summon Infernity ArchfiendEbon Angel of the Burning Abyss and Infernity Necromancer. This to obtain an extra search with Infernity Archfiend, usually for Infernity Barrier or Infernity Break. Another major level eight synchro " is Infernity Doom Dragon wich not only gives you a 3000 attacker with a burn and destruction effect but also a name helpful as it can accomplish getting monsters like "General" ready for Infernity Barrierlater. "Infernity NecromancerHundred Eyes Dragon " is then used to retrieve Infernity Avengeran extremely useful card, which is used able to synchro summon for another level eight. Stygian Street Patrol is now being used to special summon Infernity Archfiend while it is continuously copy the last card effects of your monsters in hand, and thus generates a search. It is also used to special summon searched Infernity Mirages to continue the combo, or search Infernity Necromancers and Infernity Avengers GY to obtain missing pieces get more mileage out of it. Armageddon Knight has replaced one Dark Grepherthem, as one does not always want to discard Infernity Archfiend now. If one starts especially the loop while one's opponent has a monster with 1900 attack or more, one can OTK by summoning Colossal Fighter and Armory Arm. Simply perform the loop as normal, but leave Infernity Archfiend out likes of the last synchro summon. Equip their monster with Armory Arm, and attack it with Colossal Fighter until they lose"Mirage"===Recommended Cardscards======Weaknesses===Despite their power, "Infernity" can be quite the glass-cannon as their reliance on having no-hand requirement)can keep the player from using their effects if unable to discard. Cards like "Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring" and "Effect Veiler" can also harm the Deck significantly as shutting down the effects of "Archfiend" can be a death sentence. Cards like "Dimensional Fissure" will also stop it dead in its tracks. Another, arguably greater flaw is the Deck's reliance on an explosive start which can quickly drain resources and make it vulnerable if unable to go in for a quick kill.
Trivia
* The Deck has great symbolism with its user in the anime, Kalin Kessler's mindset. Kalin believes he must pay for his wrongdoings, and "fate" determines whether or not he will win. He largely determines his win or loss off his topdecks, as he must have no cards in his hand when dueling. This can be well said about the play-style of "Infernity", as it is an almost guaranteed win if you draw a good hand, but you will likely lose very quickly if you draw a bad hand and are unable to empty it fast enough, unless you topdeck an extremely lucky card such as "Infernity Archfiend".* In the Japanese version manga, Kalin sometimes refers to his monsters as "Purgatory" monsters rather than "Infernity".* The handless effect of the "Infernity" archetype is identical to the "Hellbent" effect of the "Rakdos" related cards from Magic: The Gathering.** Additionally, the "Rakdos" cards use Red/Fire and Black/Darkness mana, while "Infernity" monsters are DARK monsters and their artwork generally depicts them in some fiery location or using fire.* "Infernity" is notorious for its ability to take huge advantage of new Summoning types and mechanics.** While initially doing little of note, the archetype quickly made great use of "YuBrionac, Dragon of the Ice Barrier" pre-Gi-Oh! 5D'serrata.** During the Xyz era, the Deck was able to abuse both "Leviair the Sea Dragon when " and "KalinLavalval Chain says Infernity" to easily keep "Hundred Eyes Dragon" in a deadly state, you can mishear him saying Infinityeven copying the effects of "Mirage" to keep the game in their favor. * In * During the Pendulum era the archetype favored using a combination of "Performapal Skullcrobat Joker", "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode 54Monekyboard " and "Yu-Gi-Oh! 5D's episode 55Lizardaw the word Infernity was used instead of Infernality (ep. 33-35). For example, when Kalin played his Infernality Fiend in " to easily abuse episode 33Pendulum Summoning, he then later called short-lived as it by its TCG name when dueled Yusei again (ep. 54-55)was. * The more recent additions of the * When Monster archetype seem to have s were introduced, "Infernity" was almost immediately using a Western Shootout theme to them. * The handless effect combination of the "Dragon archetype is identical to the "Hellbent, "Summon Sorceress" effect of the and "RakdosKnightmare Goblin" related to rise up once again prior to the cards from Magic: The Gatheringin question being banned.== References ==<references />Archseries navboxInfernityArchseries navbox (manga)
