"Elemental HERO" (E・HERO Erementaru Hīrō) is a "HERO" sub-archetype of mostly Warrior monsters used by both Jaden Yuki and Aster Phoenix (for a period of time until the latter changed to the "Destiny HERO" archetype) in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. The former also used this archetype, along with his mentor Koyo Hibiki, in the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX manga. They are used by Fusion Mask in the Yu-Gi-Oh! D Team ZEXAL manga.
They were designed by Kazuki Takahashi, and are based on comic-book superheroes in the anime and on natural elements in the manga.
"Elemental HERO" Decks focus heavily on Fusion Summoning. Most of these fall into two primary "Elemental HERO" monsters categories that can be fused with one another: Normal Monsters from the anime (monsters that are specifically required as materials for Fusion Summons) and the manga counterparts that also have effects (while the Fusion Monsters require generic Fusion Materials).
==Design==The "Elemental HERO" (Japanese: E・HERO monsters are based after the western comicsErementaru Hīrō) is a heroes, and as the name implies, they each represent an aspect of nature. This goes beyond only representing classical elements like earth, fire or water; "Elemental HEROWildheart" sub-archetype of mostly Warrior-Type monsters, used mainly by Jaden Yuki in for example, represents the Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime and in its manga adaptationwilderness. Their Aster Phoenix and Koyo HibikiFusion Monster have also used them in s typically combine the anime and manga, respectively. They were designed by Kazuki Takahashi, and are themed after comic-book superheroes aspects from the anime and are based off natural elements in the manga. "Elemental HERO" Decks focus heavily on their Fusion SummonMaterialing. Most of the primary "Elemental HERO" monsters can be fused with one another, allowing for an enormous amount of flexibility in a dedicated Decks.
In the Yu-Gi-Oh! GXOCG anime, all of the Jaden YukiMain Deck first used monsters introduced in the following "Elemental HERO" monsters: anime, except "AvianNeos", and "BurstinatrixPrisma", follow the naming scheme "[[Elemental HERO Sparkman|Sparkman][Term related to its element]Man" (or "Lady", in the case of "ClaymanBurstinatrix" and aka "BubblemanBurst Lady"). In the manga, relying on their numerous fusions including only "Flame WingmanWoodsman" ("Forestman" in the OCG) and "Thunder GiantStratos" to win. Then came ("Airman" in the OCG) follow the scheme while others like "BladedgeIce Edge", or "WildheartHeat" and do not. "NecroshadeCaptain Gold" is unique to the OCG/TCG and doesn't follow the naming scheme, but later on, giving way to new Fusion Monsters including cards like "WildedgeBlazeman", "Necroid ShamanSolid Soldier" ("Solidman") and "Wild WingmanLiquid Soldier"("Liquidman") do.
Most people group Avian, Burstinatrix, Clayman and Bubbleman together, as all have a fusion together with the exception of Clayman and Avian. Therefore Necroshade, Wildheart and Bladedge are also grouped together as they all have fusions together, with the exception of Necroshade and Bladedge. Even though Sparkman was introduced very early on and is usually on cards like Fifth Hope and HERO's Bond with Bubbleman, Clayman, Avian and Burstinatrix, but only has a fusion with Clayman, some could argue Tempest, but he requires ===Members==={| class="wikitable" style="3text-align:center" Monsters, unlike the rest. ==Playing style==The fusions used in the manga are different because instead of specific monsters, each required any one "Elemental HERO" (with the exception of "archetype has many Elemental HERO Absolute ZeroMain Deck" which can take any "HERO" monsters and Monster CardExtra Deck) and one monster of the required Monsters, each with their own varied effects. Fans often call these cards "Omni HERO"Historically, the unofficial term for these cards. They are "Elemental HERO The Shining" (LIGHT)archetype can be built to focus on their Main Deck monsters or their Fusion Monsters; currently, the Main Deck "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero" (WATER)monsters are too weak in contrast to the general power level of the game, "Elemental HERO Great Tornado" (WIND); "Elemental HERO Nova Master" (FIRE); "Elemental HERO Gaia" (EARTH) and later "Elemental HERO Escuridao" (DARK) Jaden Yuki also used other support leaned into their Fusion Monsters like "Elemental HERO InfernoSummon" and "Elemental HERO Terra Firma", both of which required specific "Elemental HERO" monstersing playstyle more favorably.
==Design==The pure "Elemental HEROes' designs are based after the western comics' heroes. In the Japanese version, HERO" playstyle aims to Fusion Summon their Extra Deck Fusion boss monsters by searching out their nomenclature is required Fusion Materials and "Elemental HERO Polymerization"man/" Fusion"Spell Cards as quickly as possible. This can be done through a combination of specific "Elemental HERO Prisma|Prisma" support cards (e.g. "A Hero Lives" and "E - Emergency Call"). The only feminine heroes , generic "Burstinatrix and " support cards (e.g. "Elemental HERO Lady HeatStratos", who have "LadyElemental HERO Shadow Mist" instead of and "ManVision HERO Vyon" in their Japanese name), and non-archetypal Warrior support cards (e.g. Some "Reinforcement of the names are changed in the English versionArmy").
As the name says, the The "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters typically have battle-focused effects with little defensive capabilities. Most "Elemental HEROesHERO" each represent an element Fusion Monsters also require Fusion Materials with specific names, but some of naturethem have more generic materials, thus are much easier to summon. In western cultureThe 6 most notable ones are "Elemental HERO Great Tornado", "Nova Master", the main elements are fire"The Shining", water"Escuridao", air"Absolute Zero", earthand "Gaia", light which require 1 "Elemental HERO" monster and darknessa monster with a specific Attribute as their materials, but in eastern culturemaking them useful choices to summon with "Super Polymerization" by using an opponent's monster as material. Among these 6, more elements "Escuridao" and "Absolute Zero" are consideredthe most commonly used, such as lightningbecause "Escuridao's" DARK Attribute is ubiquitous when mixed with other "HERO" monsters, woodand "Absolute Zero" has a very strong effect, metal and icealso only requires a "HERO" monster rather than an "Elemental HERO" monster as its material, though ice making it even easier to Summon in a general "HERO" Deck. Following behind are "Elemental HERO Sunrise" and "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage" whose materials can make use of the varying Attributes of "Elemental HERO" monsters and they both have effects to search out yet another card that can Summon another "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster ("Miracle Fusion" and "Favorite Contact"). "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO" is many times not considered, since itthe archetype's part powerhouse that requires any number of Warrior monsters and an "waterElemental HERO"Fusion Monster, which can easily use close out games with its powerful attacks and can float into any Warrior monster from the Deck upon its destruction.

The manga doesn't follow the same theme as the anime, but the heroes still are based after those same elements.
== Playing Style =With "Neos" and "Neo-Spacian"===Neo-Spacian#Playing style
While "Elemental HERONeos" Decks mainly focus on using cards like is featured as main piece of the "Neo-Spacian" and "Fusion GateNeos", "archetypes that usually uses Miracle Contact Fusionor other effects to Special Summon the Fusion Monsters that mention "Elemental HERO Neos"as material, this mainly differs from the traditional Fusion Summon playstyle of "PolymerizationElemental HERO"in general. Over time however, and the "Super PolymerizationNeos" to theme has been integrated with the traditional "Elemental HERO" Fusion Summon a variety playstyle by the introduction of newer support. These include: "Fusion MonsterCross Keepers. For "Elemental HERO, the "EN" Fusion Monsters with specified names, cards ("King of the SwampEN - Engage Neo Space" and , "Elemental HERO WoodsmanEN Shuffle" can be used to search/recycle copies of and "Wave". It has also become common to play Xyz Monsters like ) and new "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monsters that must be Fusion Summoned such as "Number 39: UtopiaElemental HERO Brave Neos", "Steelswarm RoachElemental HERO Neos Knight", and "Blade Armor NinjaElemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman" and . In particular, "Elemental HERO Flame Wingman - Infernal Rage"Maestroke facilitates the Symphony DjinnSummon of "Elemental HERO Shining Neos Wingman" by searching "Favorite Contact" which can Summon "Neos Wingman"during the opponent's turn to disrupt the opponent.
"Elemental HERO Spirit of Neos" can search "Polymerization" or a Spell/Trap that mentions an "Elemental HERO" monster upon its Special Summon, which facilitates easier use of the niche classic "Elemental HERO" monsters support. Then it can be Searched tag itself out with an "Elemental HERO" Normal Monster from the Deck using . These effects in tandem grant easy access to use the "Elemental HERO" Normal Monsters-oriented cards (like the Trap Card, "E - Emergency CallFeather Wind", Reinforcement which negates the activation of the Army, a Spell/Trap Card with "A Hero LivesElemental HERO Avian"), though it will usually search most of the "Elemental HERO Neos"-oriented cards or "Hero SignalProtection of the Elements, and Summoner Monk " (who would also be another Counter Trap Card which can negate the activation of a good qualification, since Spell/Trap Card by using any "Elemental HERO" decks rely on a lot of Spell Cards monster for its activation requirements as opposed to add Fusion-Material Monsters to your hand and Fusion Summon"Feather Wind" requiring "Elemental HERO Avian" specifically).
Recycling ===Other "HERO" support===Within the entire "HERO" meta-archetype, the "Elemental HERO" archetypal playstyle is strongly supported by the "Fusion Material MonsterVision HEROs will allow you future use of fusion material. " combo ("Faris is perfect for recyling " → "Increase Elemental " → "Vyon") since "Vyon" can search out "Polymerization" and is perfect for comboing off of can Fusion Gatesend and "Miracle FusionElemental HERO Shadow Mist. The "Vision HERO" Fusion Monster s, "Adoration" and "Trinity will allow recycling ", are also good options for an "Elemental HERO monsters from the " Deck to run due to their generic Fusion GraveyardMaterials of just any "HERO" monsters.
The "Elemental Xtra HERO Neos Alius is not only a " LIGHTLink Monster target for s provide many helpful benefits to the "Elemental HERO" playstyle. "Infernal Devicer, but it also allows you " can directly search out up to beat down your opponent with 2 listed Gemini SparkFusion Material s on a "HERO" Fusion Monster, making it most strongly support the "Elemental HERO" and allows you to use "Hero BlastEvil HERO to recycle " playstyle of Elemental HERO Neos AliusFusion Summon and destroy one of your opponent's ing monsters with 1900 Attack or lessspecific materials. This also makes a good set up for "Wonder Driver or light material for " can recover "Polymerization" and "Fusion" Black Luster Soldier - Envoy of the BeginningSpell Cards, making it useful for longer combos or grind games.
Most tech cards you use in a ===How "Elemental HERO" supports other "HERO" sub-archetypes===On the other side, the "Elemental HERO" deck like archetype (EX: Miracle Fusion;E - Emergency Call; Destiny Drawspecifically, a few individual members) are vital combo pieces to the overall "Normal Spell CardHEROs" meta-archetype playstyle. You can mill these type of cards using Destiny The most important "Elemental HERO - Diamond Dude " monster with regards to activate them from the entire "HERO" archetype is "HERO Stratos on your next ", a non-once-per-turn. Since cards like "Torrential TributeElemental HERO Solid Soldier, " and "Liquid Soldier, or " are good monsters to Mirror ForceNormal Summon , as they can cause the downfall of the deck (by destroying your Fusion Monster(s)Special Summon), a great way needed "HERO" monsters (usually "Shadow Mist" to protect them is with search for "Safe ZoneMask Change. If your opponent activates Fusion Summon (reviving a "HERO" monster from the GY via "Solid Soldier" or allows drawing of 2 cards that would destroy this set card+ a discard with "Liquid Soldier"). Lastly, you can "Honest Neos it to one of your opponent's monsters and banish that monster upon the card's destruction. You can use " is an Safe ZoneATK to make an almost indestructible -booster for all "HERO" monsters, and "Sunrise and keep returning " is a Monster to your hand, then with generic "HERO" Material it to s that can search for any out "HEROMiracle Fusion" card, or even blow up a (minimum) of one powerful Fusion Spell/Trap Card. You that can also equip use monsters in the Safe ZoneGY as Fusion Materials, allowing a Fusion Summon with zero card loss to one the field advantage. "Wake Up Your Elemental HERO" requires an "Elemental HERO" Fusion Monster and any number of your opponent's Warrior monsters so it (ie. the vast majority of the "HERO" archetype) which can't be used to close out games with its high ATK and its attacking-oriented effects, or be destroyed by battle, and continue to attack Special Summon another "HERO" monster from the targeted monster with Vision HERO Trinity in order to deplete your opponent's life pointsDeck.
When playing Most "Evil HERO" Fusion Monsters also require specific "Elemental HERO" Decks, you find that a lot of times (with Fusion Gate and Miracle Fusion) that you are Banishing your monsters. Return from the Different Dimension and D.D.R. - Different Dimension Reincarnation can easily take advantage of this. If things aren't going your way, or you need a back up plan, Return from the Different Dimension would allow you to Special Summon as many banished monsters as you wanttheir Fusion Materials, and turn the tides in your favor. This is also good for when you don't have many Fusion Material Monsters and you need to Fusion Summon or even Xyz Summon. You which can activate this card, get out Fusion Material Monsters, and use Fusion Gate to Fusion Summon be aided with those monstersthe aforementioned "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer".
When using a variety of "HERO" monsters, utilizing the Change Quick-Play Spell Cards can help for a quick and powerful summon using your Elemental HERO Monsters to special summon Masked HEROes.===Recommended cards===
There is a great combo using Form Change, ====Classic====This Deck list focuses on the playstyle of "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero, and Masked HERO Acid. First fuse any HERO monster and a water attributed monster with Polymerization, or any card " Fusion Monsters that can fuse monsters, to get Elemental HERO Absolute Zero. An easy way to get require specific Fusion Materials featured prominently in the two monsters you need is with Stratos's effect to search for any HERO monster that has a water attribute'Yu-Gi-Oh! GX anime. Use Form Change to send Elemental HERO Absolute Zero back to While it is outclassed by the current power level of the extra deck and summon Masked HERO Acidgame, this playstyle still received various modern pieces of support, remember that when Elemental namely "Xtra HERO Absolute Zero is removed Infernal Devicer" and greatly benefits from the field he destroys all of your opponents monsters"Vision HERO" engine involving "Vision HERO Faris", "Vision HERO Increase" and Masked "Vision HERO Acid's effect says that when he is summoned Vyon". After searching "Polymerization" with "Vyon", both itself and "Increase" can be used to Link Summon "Xtra HERO Infernal Devicer" which help easily search the field all pair of your opponents traps/spells are destroyed effectively clearing your opponents fieldFusion Materials needed. This combo works perfectly because Masked HERO Acid only needs a water attributed monster like Alternatively, one could use the searched "Polymerization" instead to Fusion Summon more generic choices, more notably "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero and a Change card to be summoned. If your opponent tries to get rid of Sunrise" or "Elemental HERO Absolute Zero before you can summon Masked HERO Acid remember that Form Change is a Wingman -Play Spell Card, so you Infernal Rage" which can chain it search cards to any move your opponent makes. But as of September 1st, 2013, Stratos became Forbidden, so it has become more difficult to use Summon yet another "Elemental HEROs (but not in OCG)HERO" Fusion Monster from the Extra Deck.

The effect of "Kinetic Soldier" increases its ATK by 2000 when it battles with Warrior-Type monsters, and thus is a great choice as a counter to most of these decks, so heavy Trap support like the "Solemn" series, "Bottomless Trap Hole", "Dimensional Prison" are recommended so the "HEROs" will able to survive in the early game. Since most "Elemental HERO" Decks heavily rely on Fusions to remain in the game long enough to bring "Elemental HERO Neos" and his fusions out, a good anti-spell Deck will eliminate the activation and use of "Polymerization" and Fusion Spells. Also a Deck with the ability to destroy Fusions, before and after summoning, will also make it easy to take down an "Elemental HERO" Deck. The trap card "Non-Fusion Area," for example, is nothing short of crippling to most "Elemental HERO Decks". "Cursed Seal of the Forbidden Spell" is another example because it negates the activation and the effect of a Spell Card (in this case a Fusion Spell Card) and destroys it and stops the player from using the Fusion Spell Card that he/she tried to use again. Another good choice to permanently cease Fusions Spells in a Duel is "Armageddon Designator". "De-Fusion" will stop Fusion Monsters because the Fusion Material is in the controller's Graveyard, and the other player is able to return the Fusion Monsters without summoning the Fusion Material Monsters, although "Anti-Fusion Device" and "Steelswarm Sting" are good 1 for 1 second choices in simply destroying them. Since Fusion Summons are Special Summons, cards like "Royal Oppression", "Fossil Dyna Pachycephalo", "Archlord Kristya" and "Aurora Paragon" can interdict these Decks well--the latter two cards can also cut off use of additional support cards like "Elemental HERO Voltic", "A Hero Lives" and "Hero Signal".  "Elemental HERO"s can be better chasened and repelled via cards like "King Tiger Wanghu", "Battle of the Elements", "Gozen Match" "Warrior Elimination", "Ryu Kokki", "Pestilence" and even "4-Starred Ladybug of Doom" (many non-Fusion "Elemental HERO"s are Level 4). These may be just as efficient as anti-Special Summoning/Fusion destroyers, if not worse because their use can be much less passive than say, waiting for Fusion "Elemental HERO"s to grace the Field and have a more profound effect against such Decks. Finally, "Skill Drain" and/or "Angel O7" can cease and desist "HERO" effects, which would be significant against these Decks because without substantial Spell/Trap support, many of the "HERO"s, including quite a bit of Fusion "HERO"s, do not possess significant sustainability stat-wise whilst on the field. A deck that can beat it is Blackwings due to their fast swarming and destructive techhniques
Weaknesses
* "Elemental HERO" monsters often lack protection, and as such the player can often easily have their field cleared by mass destruction cards and effects like "Dark Hole", "Raigeki" and "Evenly Matched".
* Pure "Elemental HERO" monsters have very weak disruption and oppression power, having little ability to disrupt or prevent the opponent's plays.
* "Gozen Match" can significantly disrupt a pure "Elemental HERO" Deck due to their variety of Attributes.
* As all "Elemental HERO" non-Contact Fusion Monsters cannot be Special Summoned in other ways than Fusion Summon, cards like "Non-Fusion Area" and "Dimensional Barrier" can prevent these Fusion Monsters from being Summoned easily. Furthermore, cards like "Nekroz of Unicore" can have their effects negated.
* As "Elemental HERO" monsters are mostly Warrior-Type, cards such as "Cipher Soldier", "Warrior Elimination" and "There Can Be Only One" can pose as a threat to such decks.
