Joey has just drawn Meteor of Destruction. Marik orders him to play the card, but at this point Joey starts remembering his past. Marik tries to use force but Joey refuses due to his friendship with Yugi. Yugi, at this point goads Marik to duel him personally since he was cowardly using Joey as a puppet. Angered, Marik uses his Rod to its full power and completely takes control over Joey.[[Joey Wheeler|Joey]] [[activate]]s [[Normal Spell CardsCard|Magic Card]] "[[Meteor of Destruction]]". He [[pay]]s 500 [[Life Points]] ([[Joey Wheeler|Joey]]: 1100 → 600 [[Life Points]]) to inflict 1000 points of [[Effect damage|damage]] to [[Yugi Muto|Yugi]]'s [[Life Points]] but then he breaks free of [[Marik Ishtar|Marik]]'s control due to his last bit of friendship with Yugi and free will being strong enough to break free of the Rod's control over him and forcibly removes Marik out of the duel for good. [[Yugi Muto|Yugi]] [[activate]]s [[Normal Trap CardsCard|Trap Card]] "[[Mystical Refpanel]]". [[Yugi Muto|Yugi]], not wanting to see [[Joey Wheeler|Joey]] die, decides to [[target]] the [[Card effect|effect]] of "[[Meteor of Destruction]]" at himself ([[Yugi Muto|Yugi]]: 1000 → 0 [[Life Points]]). [[Joey Wheeler|Joey]]'s key box opens. When [[Joey Wheeler|Joey]] realizes "[[Meteor of Destruction]]'s [[Card effect|effect]] can force 1 of the opponent's [[Monster Cards|monsters]] to [[attack]] (not real life effect), he orders [[Red-Eyes B. Dragon|Red-Eyes Black Dragon]] to [[attack]] him ([[Joey Wheeler|Joey]]: 600 → 0 [[Life Points]]); [[Yugi Muto|Yugi]]'s key box also opens.
