- Dark Dust Spirit is based on Japanese Mythology death representation "shinigami" what means death god .
- Its appearance, however, does seem to match that of an oni, or mythical Japanese ogre-demon. It may also be either the Death goddess form of Izanami or the skin removing demonness Datsue-ba.
