It was updated for the release of ''[[Ancient Sanctuary]]'' on July 22, 2004,<ref>{{cite web | url = http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/yugioh/forbidden.asp | title = Effective April 19, 2004, this is the list of Forbidden and Limited Cards from Konami. : Updated for Ancient Sanctuary! | publisher = Upper Deck Entertainment | archiveurl = http://web.archive.org/web/20040722043431/http://www.upperdeckentertainment.com/yugioh/forbidden.asp | archivedate = July 22, 2004 | accessdate = March 25, 2014 }}</ref> though the only change was the removal of the "Forbidden Cards for Asia" note. This list was followed by the [[August 2004 Lists|August 2004 Forbidden and Limited List]].
From May 1, 2004 onward, players in the ''TCG'' could use English cards from any territory, not just the territory designated for that card, meaning that any English card can be used around the world. However, Asian-English was still prohibited for any territory other than Asia.
